More Music

Crazy morning, I tells ya.

Five songs worth of vocals, two songs worth of lead guitars, and three songs worth of rhythm guitars… and it ain’t even noon yet!

Why?

It’s 12:38 am and I’m still awake. Why? Why am I still awake?

I took a vacation day tomorrow because Bellana is coming over. She’s not going to be here until close to noon though, so I technically can sleep super late without screwing anything up. I do want to get some car music in though, so I should get up early.

Examining the potential consequences of still being awake at 12:42 am does not answer the pertinent question of why.

We may never know the answer.

Bummer.

Walking Dead Cold Open

Okay, I am not going to live blog the whole episode, and this is spoiler free as can be…

But after the last horrid season of Fear the Walking Dead, and the less than spectacular season of World Beyond, and the Covid lockdown season 10 bonus episodes (which were all okay, just not exactly Earth shattering), the first 10 minutes of the season 11 premier was just completely killer. It’s like… oh yeah, that’s why we all watch this show. Now I remember!

I know it’s only one scene, but that was really good.

WoW and TWD

I just spent about an hour playing World of Warcraft and I didn’t die once! I was killing bad guys left and right! It was a slaughter and those pricks never even touched me (mostly)! Of course this just means that the next time I play I’ll get attacked by a bunny rabbit and it’ll tear my lungs out. That rabbit’s dynamite!

It’s time to wrap it up for the night though. We are 10 minutes away from the season 11 premier of The Walking Dead. It’s zombie time, babie! I sure hope the FiOS app on my iPad can still find AMC. Season 11 is the last season, though it’s going to be three eight episode segments instead of the usual two. That’s good. I can handle some bonus time before it ends.

I should also note that the character I was playing in WoW uses a crossbow, so I was basically Darryl. Unless you prefer the comics to the TV show, in which case I was Dwight… though in TV land Dwight is now on Fear the Walking Dead and that’s pretty much a fate worse than zombified un-death.

Just remember, kids, when the zombies are chasing you, make sure you walk faster! Ooh! See what I did there? In the immortal words of Alf, I kill me!

I Think I’m Done

The second round of guitar playing didn’t last quite as long as the first, and I’ve reached the point where my hands just won’t do it anymore. I think I’m done for the day.

The progress tally is five songs got all of the rhythm guitar tracks, four got their lead guitar tracks, and one got both. I am leaving things with five songs ready for vocals (car vocals in the morning, maybe?) and four ready to mix. There are seven songs still waiting for rhythm guitar, and one that doesn’t have a song form yet. All of that on top of the 21 that are already mixed and uploaded and counted on the 50/90 site. That puts my current total at 38 out of 50 with a couple of days less than half the project still to go.

Yikes!

I’m going to go make dinner and then play some World of Warcraft with my Bride.

And on an unrelated note, I just read that Don Everly died. Rest in peace, Everly Brother.

New Strings Day

It’s been almost four months since my love bought me a new Les Paul for my 50th birthday. Today is the first day since then that it got new strings.

Oh and one of the bridge saddles fell off. Super easy fix but when the time comes to upgrade the shit out of this sucker (it has PAF clones in it’s pick ups’ future), I expect I’ll add a bridge to the list. I’ve never looked into upgrading a bridge before. Is there a boutique bridge industry?

Are We Ready?

Raise your hand if you’re ready for the hurricane that’s about to meteorologically bitch slap us.

<pause while people respond>

<pause while I tally the results>

As suspected, zero people are ready for this hurricane that is about to dump an ocean of ass all over us.

I cleaned up the latest incarnation of Pond Asshole in the cellar. Pretty much guaranteed that after that prick Henri takes a gigantic piss on New England it’s going to re-graduate to Lake Asshole.

At least I am home.

To do list for today:

  • Write this post
  • Put new strings on my sweet new Les Paul
  • Record tons of guitar tracks for 50/90
  • Laundry
  • Try to stay on top of Pond/Lake Asshole
  • Try not to let the hurricane ruin everything
  • Play some World of Warcraft with the love of my life
  • Try not to get too excited about Bellana coming home tomorrow.

Poll Post Script

Nobody voted in the poll in the last post. That’s okay, I was going to watch Titans anyway, though I did doze off half way through the episode.

I’m going to play my guitar tomorrow. That will cheer me up a bit.

Until then, sweet dreams.

Home

I’m home. I had dinner with my love. It’s quiet. The air conditioner is running.

It just feels so good to be home.

I don’t have to go back until Tuesday night.

Sigh of relief.

I need this to be over. Not just for me and my family, but also for my parents and my brother and his family and my sister and her family. We all need this to be resolved so we can be in a perpetual state of sigh of relief.
