Weekend Wrap Up
On Saturday I posted my to do list for the weekend. How’d I do?
- Wrap Christmas Presents. I only have one person’s gifts left to wrap.
- Every Christmas present I had in the house that was not wrapped is now wrapped. I’m still waiting on a couple of deliveries, but that’s not a big deal. Almost done!
- Do Christmasy things with the whole family, specifically we need to watch Elf.
- Oh hells yes. Elf, Polar Express, Christmasy stuff all over the place. WOOHOO!
- This is a late arrival to the list but I am going to help Jen make a shit ton of cookies. Hell yes.
- So many cookies were baked. So many delicious cookies. I’ve done a decent job not devouring all of them, but I doubt my will power is going to hold out for very much longer.
- MUSIC
- Holy crap! 48 hours ago the December music was nine songs, seven of which had rhythm guitars. That’s it. Now? 10 songs, all of the rhythm guitars are done, all of the lyrics and melodies are done, eight of the songs have vocals done, two of the songs have all of the tracking done, and one of them is mixed. I did a car music yesterday, and another today, and I’ll need one more tomorrow. December music is suddenly on fire.
So there we have it. My weekend to do list may have been short, but it’s complete. Big time complete. I like it when a plan comes together. Now we just have three work days, and a Christmas Eve to go before our first and hopefully last ever Covid-19 Christmas. Here’s hoping the little bastard goes down in history as a unique little blip on the universe. HoHoHo.
To Do List for This Weekend
It’s the last weekend before Christmas and here is my to do list. It’s pretty short.
- Wrap Christmas Presents. I only have one person’s gifts left to wrap.
- Do Christmasy things with the whole family, specifically we need to watch Elf.
- This is a late arrival to the list but I am going to help Jen make a shit ton of cookies. Hell yes.
- MUSIC
I had a tough time with the intermittent fasting last night. We went out to deliver Christmas presents (successful) and check out some Christmas lights displays (woefully pathetic). We left right after dinner and we didn’t get home until 9:00 PM. I am supposed to start my fast at 9:00 and I was seriously hungry. I had a snack and started the fast at 9:45. I’m still going to get the full 16 hours in before I eat again, but it was just a sign that it’s going to be tough this week. Add that to the to do list, keep on schedule if you can.
HoHoHo.
It’s a Covid Christmas
It was bound to happen, but did it have to happen to that one?
It’s a Covid Christmas so all of my shopping has been done online. It’s a Covid Christmas so all of my shopping was done much earlier than I usually do it out of fear that somewhere along the supply chain the workforce would be having health issues and things would be delayed.
I found out today that my one big gift… the showstopper, if there were an actual showstopper this year, has had it’s estimated delivery date changed from this weekend to 12/24. Covid Christmas Eve.
I mean, I knew some of the gifts were going to get delayed, and some would probably be delayed long enough to morph from Christmas gift to Birthday gift, but why did it have to be that one?
Ho Ho OhNo!
(No worries, I have a backup plan. I’m covered. I mean, it’s a Covid Christmas after all, right?)
The Day After
I don’t know what I did, but my legs are freakin’ killing me today. I have a little bit of snow to clear, and lots of laundry, another day’s exercise, and some board games. I still have a few songs to finish from the great re-recording thing and I haven’t done diddly for December music.
Mostly I just want to hang out with the kids, but the college student is prepping for finals so she’s busy. That’s okay. She’s going to ace them all.
There’s a good chance I am going to fail on my intermittent fasting today. I don’t think I can make it to 1:00 PM. It’ll only be the second time I don’t make it to 16 hours in the last 88 days, but it’ll be close enough for faux Thanksgiving weekend.
HoHoHo.
A Good Day
Today was a good day.
That’s all. I just wanted to share that.
Have a good night, all.
Thanksgiving Part Deux
The kids are here. They weren’t on Thanksgiving Day.
It’s the weekend. You know what that means?
Today is Thanksgiving, Part Deux.
Get ready for turkey pics and enough stuffing to feed two armies.
Because of the scheduling weirdness, it may be Christmas cookie baking day too. The perfect storm of deliciousness!
Bring it on!
Out of Control
It’s still November, but Christmas is literally exploding around here. We are completely out of control, and the kids haven’t even been involved yet.
Even Patches is overwhelmed.
Thanksgiving Weekend
Thanksgiving weekend has finally arrived. My favorite of all the long weekends. Sure Covid has destroyed it, but at least they can’t take it away from us completely.
Today is the first day we spent with my step daughter who is home from college. She’s going to spend the rest of the long weekend at her dad’s because that’s just the way the calendar worked out. Still, I am so glad she’s here.
We are doing a zoom Thanksgiving tomorrow with my side of the family. I don’t think my step kids will be available, but I hope we can sneak them in for a few minutes at least.
Thanksgiving is pretty much my favorite holiday. It’s going to take more than a global pandemic and a worldwide quarantine and the end of American democracy to ruin it for me. Damn right.
Thanksgivmas
I think I might need to admit defeat on this one.
Thanksgiving is pretty much my favorite holiday. I probably post that every year but it’s true. I just love me some Thanksgiving.
This year, Covid-19 is screwing everything up. No large groups. No family gatherings. Effectively no Thanksgiving. The kids are at their dad’s on the day itself, and also for that whole weekend. That means Jen and I will be alone. We’ll do something low key, and then have a full blown Thanksgiving on the first weekend they are with us. It will be a great Thanksgiving, even if it’s not on Thanksgiving.
What else does this mean though? What other effects does the lack of a normal Thanksgiving have? In a word: Christmas.
It’s November 18th and it’s safe to say that Christmas is already here. The Christmas lights are on the house, there’s a new fake tree that’s ready to be put up, there is a huge box full of new decorations just waiting for the go ahead.
One more thing? Jen bought a Christmas theme quilt for our bedroom. It was delivered yesterday. It’s in the washing machine right now. Before we sleep tonight, it will be on the bed.
It’s November 18th and the Christmas decorations are already going up. We’re going to have Christmas for Thanksgiving this year and no amount of complaining by your humble narrator here is going to stop it. Ho Ho Gobble Gobble Ho.
