Way Too Close to Home

Yesterday I wrote about how I watched the first episode of The Handmaid’s Tale and how the dystopian future of a religious police state felt a little too close to home in today’s socio-political climate?

I just watched the second episode.

The show takes place in Boston.

My home town.

Now it’s politically too close to home and LITERALLY TOO CLOSE TO HOME.

Holy shit snacks.

Guitar Maintenance Day

My Les Paul had a maintenance day. I cleaned it up a smidge and put on new strings. I also plugged in the headphone amp I got for Christmas. It really does sound like a Vox AC30. It’s such a groovy little gadget.

Every time I look at either of my 40+ year old guitars I start to think of the work they need to do and I get scared. This guitar needs fret work, and I think one of the inlays might be coming out. Yikes!

I’m also thinking of maybe changing the pick ups again. Maybe get a couple of boutique PAF clones and a 50’s style wiring harness and try to make my 70’s Les Paul feel a little more like a 50’s Les Paul. Maybe that could be my 50th birthday present to myself? Assuming we are post-Covid, of course.

Just a little fantasy.

March Music

Well I guess I’m going to write some music in March. I’ve got one song underway and, much more important from the nerd point of view, I created a Trello board.

I think I’ll go Les Paul this month, and hopefully go with the monstrously loud 30 watt amp. We will see.

Two Random Things

Two random, unrelated things that just happened inside my deficient little (tiny, actually) brain.

  • I just found out that daylight savings begins next weekend. March 14th. One day after my company’s Covid-aversary, and one day before The Ides of March (queue the Iron Maiden song). Somehow… I think… I mean, daylight savings is a great thing, bring it on… but… on that day? Right smack in between those two unhappy (for Caesar, at least) anniversaries? Maybe we should hold off a week? Just saying.
  • I feel like this week has been a tough one over all at work. I’m seriously ready for the weekend. Like… super ready for the weekend. It’s also important to know that whenever possible I take my lunch break at 1:00. Okay… back story over… I have been working on a task at work this morning and every time I feel like I’ve got it wrapped up I find something that shows me that I am still way off. I thought to myself that I’ve been digging into this for hours now, I must be really late for lunch. Then I looked at the clock. It said 11:50. Oh, good grief.

Until next time, folks! (queue the walk off music)
