Sunrise

Jen never goes with me when I go out to chase the sunrise. Well… I can’t say she never comes with me because she came with me today!

We went to Salisbury Beach for the sunrise this morning. On the way home we took a detour… sort of. We just pointed the car North and didn’t stop until we were up in the White Mountains. We left the house at 5:30am and got home after 4:00pm. What a day!

Here are some sunrise at the beach pics.

I should clarify, these are digital photos from the ocean. There were film shots too but you have to wait for those to get developed. I hope to ship them out to a lab tomorrow, along with the three rolls from our Florida trip back in May that have been waiting patiently.

There were also some pictures from a quick stop on Lake Winnipesaukee in Alton, NH as well. You’ll see some of those later tonight, I think,

January Plans

Back in January 2009 when Barak Obama was inaugurated I felt like I should have been there to celebrate with him and thousands of my closest friends. In January 2021 when Joe Biden was inaugurated I felt like I should be there cheering on the fact that the orange shit clown lost and the USA was saved for at least a few years.

I didn’t go on either occasion. I honestly didn’t try, even though I really would have liked to have been there.

In January 2025 WHEN Kamala Harris is inaugurated I am really going to want to be there to celebrate with her and thousands of my closest friends.

We already have a trip planned for that month. Our trip does not include January 20th though. It’s a week later. Washington, DC is far enough away that I couldn’t go there for the day and then go home that same day. I would have to go down on Sunday, attend the inauguration on Monday, and then drive home on Tuesday. Two vacation days in the week before I go on vacation for a week… that would be a tough sell. WHEN she wins the election… I might look into the possibility of it though. Even if I have to sleep in the car because I probably won’t be able to get a hotel room in the city.

We’ll see, my friends… we’ll see.

Errands Day

Just running errands and doing chores today. Keeping busy over all. I really wanted to take the cameras out for a walk this morning, but the weather was awful. The light was the worst ever. So disheartening. Oh well.

After a couple of days of weirdness, my stomach has been a team player today. No issues at all. I’m proud of the little surgically altered guy. It did not wake me up last night, which was nice of it. My legs are another story though. Twice overnight I woke up with bad leg cramps. It’s always something when you’re an old fart like me. All I want is to sleep and my own body is stopping me from doing it. What a jerk I am to myself.

Before I get back to the housework, I think I am going to finally put in a vacation request at work for our staycation in September and our next trip back to Disney World in January. I think it’s time, don’t you? There. I just did it. Hopefully my boss doesn’t have a heart attack when he sees two week long vacation requests at once. They are spread out. It’s okay. I’ll wait a while before I put in for the second planned Disney trip. That’s a full year away.

The Red Sox winning streak ended last night. They played Cincinnati, who are pretty terrible this year, and lost. It made me sad. Here’s hoping for vengeance in today’s game. I want to win by 90, at least.

Okay. Back to work, red head.

What Do You Think?

Is it time for me and my wife to consider a career change?

Should we move to Florida and become full time Disney World YouTubers? We’ve spent so much time watching Disney World YouTube videos. You would think that we would have calmed down a little after coming home from our trip a couple of weeks ago, but since then we’ve already booked the next two Disney World vacation trips so we’re still plowing through anything YouTube has to offer… and there are so many Disney World YouTube channels that there are a ton of new videos each day.

Should we do it? I mean, I would absolutely be the most awkward DW vlogger on the net, but I also think that might be a good thing for the channel. It could be our schtick.

What do you think? Should we do it?

Sick Travel

Our trip to Florida last week was sick, both literally and figuratively. It was figuratively sick in that it was a great time. It was literally sick in that Jen and I both came home with head colds. No Covid this time. We did that on a Florida trip back in September 2023. This time it is just a persistent, annoying, bad cold.

That’s two Disney World trips in a row where we were sick on the drive home. Well, last time I got sick on the day we got home. I was okay for the rest of the drive. Jen was really sick the whole way home.

I have to pause to acknowledge the fact that a Red Tail Hawk just attacked something at our bird feeder. I don’t think it got anything, but it swooped out of the sky and landed on our little patio. I saw it there for a second before it bolted into the woods. Hawks are freaking cool.

Okay, back to the subject at hand. Travel. Now that we are home from Florida it is time to tentatively plan not only the next vacation, but the next two vacations.

Tentatively, we’re looking at Southern California in the fall. Maybe September. If we do it, we will split the time between San Diego and Disneyland in Anaheim. After that it will be Orlando again at some time around Jen’s birthday. She has a milestone birthday in 2025 so we are going to want to do something epic. We’ll see if the kids can join us for this one. Maybe Jen’s mother and step father too. It’s all hypothetical at this point. For us though, half the fun of a big vacation is planning the big vacation. We’re well into that process already.

In closing, here are a few pics from our drive down to Florida. We stopped at Castillo de San Marcos in St Augustine, FL and just spent a few minutes wandering around the fort and the neighborhood around it.

That’s way more pictures than I was planning to use for this post. It doesn’t include any of the film shots either. I still need to send those out for developing. Woah!

Accident

I mentioned the accident we drove past today. We were going North on route 95 and the accident was on the Southbound side. Jen was driving so I was able to grab a couple of pictures.

Here’s hoping everyone is okay. Fingers crossed.

Fredericksburg Battle Site

Just before the traffic went down the shitter this morning we stopped at the site of the Battle of Fredericksburg. Back in December of 1862 the US Army got its ass handed to it while trying to cross the road in the town of Fredericksburg, VA. It was a really crappy few days for the United States.

It’s our third Civil War battle site. We went to the site of the two battles of Bull Run in Manassas, VA a few years ago, and 15 years ago this week, on our honeymoon, we went to the site of the Battle of Gettysburg. The USA won that one so we’ve got that going for us.

We didn’t stay long today. We went to the visitors center and we walked a short way down the sunken road. I took a couple of pictures that don’t really show anything.
