Closing

Disney World announced today that they are closing the Muppet Vision 3D show at Hollywood Studios. That makes me sad. I love that goofy little 15 minute movie. I’m always down to see it when we’re at the park. Hopefully it will still be open when we go in January.

Back on Track

We’ve been home for about five hours now. Here’s the summary of the drive there and back:

That’s a nice chunk of driving. 397.6 miles in seven hours and 25 minutes. Nice.

UMass Lowell beat the University of Vermont 3-0 in what was a pretty boring game. Lowell’s second goal was a thing of beauty. It was a two on one break away and the shooter roofed it over the goalie’s left shoulder. Perfect. Lowell’s third goal was a little painful for the Vermont fans. A one on two that should probably have been more like a dump and chase but Lowell’s forechecker just put it on net and poof, goal. Nice.

Before the game we met with the kids, including Harry’s girlfriend, for dinner and had a really nice time. Jen wasn’t feeling well by the end of it though so she stayed at the hotel during the game. That made us all sad. We missed her. After the game we all went back to the hotel and were able to spend some time hanging out with Jen, who was feeling a little better. That made up for missing the game.

Since coming home I’ve just been trying to recover from all of the driving. I did manage to run some errands and do a little around the house. I made lunch and I am going to make dinner too. First though, I have to do my morning exercise that I couldn’t do in the car today. I’s 4:20pm. Let’s make believe that it’s 5:20am and get it done.

Montpelier, VT

On the drive home from visiting the kids in Burlington, VT we stopped in the state capital, Montpelier. We were looking for a breakfast place. Yelp said it was open. Reality said it was closed. We were sad, but we did drive right past the capital building which was nice.

2.5 Hours to Go

It’s a little after 3:00pm. I have done some of that nose-to-the-grindstone stuff and finished off the project I had that is due today. Well… I still need to turn it in, but otherwise the work is done for today.

I still feel like the universe is fixin’ to pull the rug out from under me, but as the clock keeps ticking along the chance of some other shoe dropping is getting slim. I wonder if I could go back and write that sentence again and mix in even more mixed metaphors. Hmmm… probably not.

I got tied up in something while I was finishing the previous paragraph. Now we’re more like two hours away from the weekend. Kids, travel, hockey, fun. That’s on the agenda for this weekend. I just asked the band if there was a chance of getting together next weekend. I hope so, but I am sort of losing what little hope is left. I guess I am clinging to what I still have to cling to. Does that make sense?

Okay, I have sort of lost the thread of where I was going with this post so I am going to wrap it up. Do yourself a favor and listen to as much Throwing Muses as you can today. I’ve had a playlist running since around 11:00am (about 4.5 hours). I’ve made it through about five albums worth of music and it’s helping me out. Just think, a band that is renown for mental illness and creepy, depressing music is actually making me feel better today. Weird how that works. Music is pretty freakin’ magical sometimes.

Two hours and two minutes until quittin’ time and the start of the weekend. Hang in there, folks.

Even More Jealous

Yesterday I wrote a post about how Jen and I watched a TV show where the cast took a trip to San Diego and it made us really jealous because we seriously want to go back there and spend some serious quality time.

This morning I watched a photography youtube video that included shooting a visit to San Diego. It’s like the universe is just screwing with me now. I want to go back there so badly!

Jealous

Jen and I just watched a TV show were a bunch of terrible people took a trip to the beach in San Diego. I went through a bunch of photos from our honeymoon that I took at the same beach. At least I thought it was the same beach but on further review it might not have been.

Anyway, we were both super jealous and wanted to go back to San Diego but we can’t. Our next two trips are already planned and they are both to Florida. San Diego is going to have to wait years. Bummer.

Though, our Florida trips are still pretty good. I mean, other than the state being a breeding ground for nazis and all.

St. Augustine

We had never been to St. Augustine, Florida before. Our anniversary road trip to Disney World brought us there on a bit of a destination tangent. I would like to go back to see more someday. I think I’d rather have color film in the camera when I get there though.
