Unmotivated

I’ve been pretty much crushed for the last week. It’s getting worse. I just want to curl up in a ball and go away. I can’t though. I have too much to do. Is it necessary stuff or is it distracting stuff. Yes. Tonight I hope to finish up the bed room. New mattress pad, new mattress, new end tables. Tomorrow we start on the kitchen which includes the closet in the mudroom. It’s going to take a few weeks to get through everything on the agenda. There are so many boxes waiting to be opened that I don’t know what to do with them all.

So. Many. Boxes.

At least a new mattress could potentially mean that Jen and I aren’t overwhelmed with back pain when we wake up tomorrow. That’s a plus, right? My foot issue which may or may not be Plantar Fasciitis started sneaking up on me eight or nine days ago, and it was a nightmare through last weekend, but now I think it’s gone. I probably just jinxed it though. At least I’ve got that going for me.

The work day is ~88% complete. 60 minutes to go. At least I’ve got that going for me, right?

Weekend Wrap Up

On Saturday I posted my to do list for the weekend. How’d I do?

  • Wrap Christmas Presents. I only have one person’s gifts left to wrap.
    • Every Christmas present I had in the house that was not wrapped is now wrapped. I’m still waiting on a couple of deliveries, but that’s not a big deal. Almost done!
  • Do Christmasy things with the whole family, specifically we need to watch Elf.
    • Oh hells yes. Elf, Polar Express, Christmasy stuff all over the place. WOOHOO!
  • This is a late arrival to the list but I am going to help Jen make a shit ton of cookies. Hell yes.
    • So many cookies were baked. So many delicious cookies. I’ve done a decent job not devouring all of them, but I doubt my will power is going to hold out for very much longer.
  • MUSIC
    • Holy crap! 48 hours ago the December music was nine songs, seven of which had rhythm guitars. That’s it. Now? 10 songs, all of the rhythm guitars are done, all of the lyrics and melodies are done, eight of the songs have vocals done, two of the songs have all of the tracking done, and one of them is mixed. I did a car music yesterday, and another today, and I’ll need one more tomorrow. December music is suddenly on fire.

So there we have it. My weekend to do list may have been short, but it’s complete. Big time complete. I like it when a plan comes together. Now we just have three work days, and a Christmas Eve to go before our first and hopefully last ever Covid-19 Christmas. Here’s hoping the little bastard goes down in history as a unique little blip on the universe. HoHoHo.

To Do List for This Weekend

It’s the last weekend before Christmas and here is my to do list. It’s pretty short.

  • Wrap Christmas Presents. I only have one person’s gifts left to wrap.
  • Do Christmasy things with the whole family, specifically we need to watch Elf.
  • This is a late arrival to the list but I am going to help Jen make a shit ton of cookies. Hell yes.
  • MUSIC

I had a tough time with the intermittent fasting last night. We went out to deliver Christmas presents (successful) and check out some Christmas lights displays (woefully pathetic). We left right after dinner and we didn’t get home until 9:00 PM. I am supposed to start my fast at 9:00 and I was seriously hungry. I had a snack and started the fast at 9:45. I’m still going to get the full 16 hours in before I eat again, but it was just a sign that it’s going to be tough this week. Add that to the to do list, keep on schedule if you can.

HoHoHo.

Weekend To Do List Review

Here is the to do list I wrote up on Saturday. How did I do?

  • Vacuum the rug in the living room. (already done)
  • Sweep the floor in the living room. (already done)
  • Sweep the floor in the hallway, the dining room, and the kitchen.
  • Wash the floor in the kitchen.
  • Do something with the ever growing piles of cardboard boxes in the hallway, the kitchen, and the back porch.
  • Take steroids.
  • Use mass quantities of calamine lotion.
  • Take mass quantities of Advil.
  • Try to not get calamine lotion on the bandage on my hand.
    • I tried… I failed.
  • Add at least two more song ideas to the 50/90 pool.
    • I don’t think so… I think the last couple of ideas I added to the pool were done on Friday, but I’m not sure.
  • Add guitars to at least six songs in the 50/90 pool.
    • Four songs, not six.
  • Write lyrics and a melody for at least five songs in the 50/90 pool.
    • Epic fail
  • Record car vocals for at least five songs in the 50/90 pool.
    • Epic Fail Continued
  • Decide whether or not the tendinitis in your hand is in a good enough condition to put together the new cabinet we bought for the dining room.
    • Pushed off until next weekend.
  • Watch mass quantities of Marvel’s Agents of Shield. I’m in season two. Is season two the best season? It might be.
  • Get some take out for dinner tonight via doordash or some similar internet service. Preferably Indian food.
  • Be sad because I miss the kids.
  • Be sad because Bellana is leaving us next week.
  • Watch the Bruins game tomorrow night. Or at least listen to some of it on the radio.
  • Try in vain to not scratch the poison ivy.
  • Clean the litter box.
  • Pet the kitty because she’s furry and fluffy and adorable.
  • Tell my wife I love her (already done, will be done again).
  • Take two more days worth of photo-a-day pics. You’re almost there, Robbie. Constant Vigilance!

Saturday To-Do List

I have a few things I was hoping to do today, but now that I know the NHL is coming back on 8/1, all I want to do is play EA NHL20 on our PS4.

I need to do the laundry. It’s bed sheets day.

I’m on the hook for quinoa for dinner tonight.

I’m about 90 seconds away from being caught up on Agents of Shield, so that’s good news.

It occurred to me this morning that I have somehow tricked myself into trying to do three music projects at once. 50/90 is underway. I haven’t been ignoring it, but I’ve only been getting a little bit of work done. The Great 2015 Re-Recording Project is two lead guitar parts and two mix downs away from having the first batch of songs complete. The second batch of eight is lined up and ready to go. Then along with 50/90 I am still trying to do an album in a month each month. I need to write 50 songs in 90 days, but 30 of those 50 songs need to be written and recorded entirely within a single month. 10 each for July, August, and September.

First though, the 335 needs new strings, and I am going to re-watch some maintenance vids on youtube and see if I need to make any neck adjustments. Color me terrified.

But first, first! Laundry!

Oh yeah, and I have to take out the trash too. Consider it done. Oh, and the bird feeders are empty. Okay, add that to the list. Oh and NHL20 too… Yeah.

Agenda Update

To update my earlier post with today’s agenda.  I still have some laundry to do, but the important stuff for today is done.  Next up is putting the newly cleaned sheets onto Harry’s bed and then its time to clean the old bathroom.  Also, next up is maybe getting caught up on The Flash?

Today’s agenda:

  1. Say hi to Bellana
  2. Clean the bathrooms
  3. Clean the living room
  4. Shit tons of laundry
  5. Put our new sheets and blankets onto the bed
  6. Sleep

Today’s nerdy alternate agenda:

  1. Say hi to Bellana
  2. Get caught up on Supergirl (I’m about 1.5 episodes behind, I think)
  3. Play some guitar (two new song ideas are in the works)
  4. Watch The Walking Dead
  5. Sleep

Mini To-Do List for Saturday

Here is a mini sized to-do list for today.

1. Get donuts for the wife and kids.
Done
2. Get the guitar playing step son to his band practice.
3. Go grocery shopping.
4. Learn a bunch of new songs for my band practice tomorrow
a. The keyboard part at the end of “Just What I Needed” by The Cars
b. “You May Be Right” by Billy Joel. Mike and I played this one in high school so it’s more like re-learning it for us.
c. “Creep” by Radiohead.
d. “Fine Again” by Seether.
e. Figure out that awful Michael Jackson thing that I was noodling over by ear last week but should probably learn the actual changes and play right. I guess.
5. Practice the guitar so I (hopefully) won’t suck as bad as last week.
6. Most important of all, watch Avengers 2 with the kids! (WOOOHOO!)
7. Second most important of all, watch another episode of Agent Carter with the kids.
