Jennifer asks and Jennifer receives.

There are only like three dishes I know how to make and tacos with ground turkey is one of them.

The work day is more than half way done. Just a few hours to go until the weekend. Solving the equation and making use of Einstein’s Theory of Relativity shows us that a five day week that follows a four day weekend that followed a three day week is going to feel like a 20 day week. Do the math. It totally checks out.
After this impossibly long work week, the weekend shines like a beacon in a dark and stormy night. There are a lot of things I want to do this weekend. Christmas lights, a little cleaning at my parents house, cleaning up the post-decorating mess we left in the living room, and music music and more music.
There may be an alternate plan though. One inspired by the love of my life. This morning, I got out of bed a few minutes before she did. When I got up, the cat immediately took my place. Actually, she was on the bed before I got up, sort of willing me to piss off and leave so she could be alone with Jen. As I was starting to make the long journey to the bathroom Jen told the cat that she was just going to spend the entire day in bed. She wasn’t going to get up at all.
Now THAT is a plan!
I could not live that particular dream today, but tomorrow? And Sunday?
Bring it on!
Thanks, Jen! I love you!!!
So I guess I have to put christmas lights on the house now, eh?
December 2021. Heading into Covid month #19 and somehow things are getting worse again? Figures. Lock downs forever.
I guess I have to start christmas shopping now, eh?
It’s not that I don’t enjoy the holidays, it’s more like I just don’t want them to be here yet. It seems like they were just here yesterday and it was Covid and all that and now it’s back and it’s still Covid and I just don’t want to deal with it. I want my old christmas back, and with each new day I become more convinced that the old christmas is never coming back. Covid crap isn’t abnormal anymore. Everything else is now abnormal and it makes me sad. I guess.
The upside is that we’re just a few weeks away from the kids being home again. Bellana is going to school in Europe next semester so she won’t be here for long, but she’ll be here for a while and that’s good. Harry will be around for his whole break.
I am not sure what I want to do for music in December. I can promise you that I won’t be writing a christmas song. Guaranteed. I want to start sneaking over my parents house and doing some cleaning. I want to start on the second floor and work my way down. More sorting than cleaning, I think. A pile of stuff to save, a pile of stuff for other people to review, and a pile of stuff to donate/trash/junk/whatever. I just want to do something. I’ve been wanting to do something for months but haven’t yet.
What else. I’ve got 20 minutes until I have to punch in to work and last night’s episode of The Flash is still playing so what else should I write about?
I have no idea what to get anyone for christmas. In other words, this December is kicking off exactly the same as every other December. HoHoHo and all that.
Okay. I have a shit load of work to do today so I guess I should just get to it. Time to punch in. Welcome to December, everyone.
I made two doctors appointments today. One is just a quickie to drop off some paperwork and take some vitals. The other is a zoom meeting.
I told myself that I wasn’t going to write about this… then changed my mind… then changed my mind again… and now I am changing it again. The appointments are to start the process for weight loss surgery. The idea of mutilating my internal organs in the name of health scares the fucking shit out of me (literally?). 20 years of nothing but negative progress in my attempts to get healthier is currently scaring me even more. A lot more. Almost infinitely more. My step kids were six and four years old when I met them for the first time. I missed out on a ton. I don’t want to miss out on any more because I was not able to get my weight down and it caused my heart to explode. Fuck.
So the first appointment is booked and I am freaking out. Also, the first appointment doesn’t happen until mid-January so I am freaking out about that too. Covid-19 forced us to punt on Harry’s high school graduation trip to Disney World last year. The make up date is currently sometime in January 2023. I don’t want to still be in some weakened recovery phase of this process when the trip date comes around. I’d rather delay than screw up scheduling. Granted Omicron is already hinting at a fucked up 2022 to rival the fucked up 2021 and 2020. Fuck. Who knows what’s going to happen.
Anyway… as of right now I think I am going to share my thoughts and experiences on this whole process as they happen, which means you aren’t going to hear a peep for almost two months. I’ll probably change my mind a few dozen times between now and then so you might not get a post about it until it happens. Or, maybe I’ll wait a year after it happens and then just post a selfie of an unrecognizable, healthier me (that is the goal, right?).
Cross your fingers and hang on to your butts, and come along and freak the fuck out with me.
I wrote “fuck” a lot in this post. Oh well.
I watered the plants, watered the christmas tree, did some laundry, took out the trash, determined that my November music thing is definitely over 30 minutes without adding another song (it’s actually over 40 minutes!), and then I started work.
It’s been a busy day at work too. It’s becoming a trend that halfway through my lunch break things blow up. Four days in a row now. That’s fun.
Nothing else to report on today on this chilly Monday. Just hanging in there, trying to get to 5:30pm, when I’ll make dinner for my love and me and then… I don’t know what. I’ve got seven songs to mix before December 1st, so I will want to do a chunk of that before bed. Other than that? No clue. Mostly, I’m just looking forward to a little time with the love of my life. I kinda like making dinner for her. Is that nerdy? Is it romantically nerdy? You be the judge.
Assuming I don’t need to add an additional song, I think I finished all of the guitars and all of the vocals for November today. Oh my goodness, my finger tips are on fire. Burning hell fire finger tips. Good heavens.
I think I can stop using the Vox MV50 amp now. I should be able to put it back into the living room with the electric piano. It’s going to be there all setup when the kids come home for Christmas break.
They came over today and decorated the tree and packed up their stuff for school and left. I’m sad for me and excited for them. As usual, right? I just love them. You know how it is.

I started at noon and got interrupted at about 1:45. Guitars, babie. Guitars. I did rhythm and leads on three songs. Well… one song still needs one little eight bar solo, but I’ll get to that after the christmas tree is done. The kids should be here any minute. After that I’ve got two more songs ready for leads and one song that needs rhythm and leads. After that… I don’t know. Maybe add up the total time for the eight songs currently part of the project and if it hits 30 minutes declare myself done, otherwise try to add another one. I still have two days after today, but there is also a lot of mixing to do.
I’m sure I’ll snap a guitar pic or two when I get back to it later tonight. It is GibSunday after all. As for now, the plan is to decorate, maybe watch a TV show for a bit, maybe eat some dinner, and then back to it! I think the Walking Dead spin offs are going to have to wait until tomorrow (it is Sunday, after all).
Now, where did I put that owl ornament?
Our plans to cut down a christmas tree today are about to be washed away. Forecasts call for heavy rain to start at exactly the time we were planning to leave on our tree hunt. Oh good.
Hey, did you hear about the new Covid-19 variant that’s popping up in South Africa and early data (which could still be off) is suggesting it could be 500 times more contagious than the Delta variant? Oh good.
What else… I don’t know. I want to get some guitar playing in today, and pretty much all weekend. We’re looking into a minor thermostat upgrade that hopefully will be entirely wireless. We have a ton of turkey dinner leftovers and the stuffing is calling me, but for some reason I have a craving for toast right now. What’s up with that? I wish the kids didn’t have to leave today. I want them to stay, but I don’t want to hold them back, you know? Just call me Robert the Conflicted Red Head. Sounds like a band name.
My step son suggested that this year’s Christmas tree should come from a Christmas tree farm where we actually cut it down ourselves.
We are doing it tomorrow morning. Then the kids go to their dad’s. On Sunday, just before they head back to school, they will pop over here to decorate the tree.
I would still rather get into the month of December before putting up the Christmas tree, but given the scheduling difficulties this year I’m going along without snarky comments. Or at least with a minimum of snarky. Insert shit eating grin here.
HoHoHo and all that.
