We placed an order with Instacart today. It included a half gallon of ice cream.
mmmmm Ice cream.
Instacart delivered it without issue. Except that it was mostly melted. I’m guessing we weren’t their only stop tonight.
Noted for future reference.

12 weeks of everyone working and going to school from home and I never had a problem with our home network…
Until today.
I was on a video meeting with my boss and one of my staff members and I lost the network for a second. Then it recovered. It wasn’t even bad enough to kick me off the call. A minute later though, bam. Total WiFi fail. I had to pull my USB network adapter and plug it back in. That fixed the problem, but I was totally discombobulated for the rest of the meeting.
Hey network, how’s about we don’t do that again, m’kay?

The United States is literally crumbling around us. Americans are being murdered in the streets by law enforcement officials who have sworn to protect them, and the so called president is pledging to sic the military on those who speak out against it.
And yet there are glimpses of hope buried in the chaos. Americans have flown into space on American vehicles for the first time in a decade.
And earlier today the WordPress widget on my iPhone did this:

Attention all planets of the solar federation…
We have assumed control…
We have assumed control…
We have assumed control.
I’ve never tried to embed a live youtube video here before. Let’s see if it works.
I’m taking another crack at inheriting a much upgraded MacBook Pro. It didn’t work well a couple of weeks ago and I got frustrated. Take two is already going smoother and it’s only been 15 minutes.

I wasn’t going to share these songs because there really isn’t anything interesting about either one of them Then I remembered we’re stuck in a global pandemic lock down so why the hell not.
Also, WordPress.com has released their new editor today and I need an excuse to try it out. It’s very similar to the mobile app and it’s okay so far. One small item of note so far is that I don’t see a way to switch to an HTML editor. I’m sure it’s out there somewhere.
Anyway, two songs. Neither is all that good, but they are both done. Two down and eight, maybe nine, to go.
I wonder if any of this stuff worked.
Patches was laying down on my desk. I thought it was a good candidate for today’s photo-a-day. Unfortunately she was sitting on my phone, and my Nikon was not quickly accessible. What can I do?
Well, I have a webcam on my laptop. Could I use that? I did a Spotlight Search for camera and webcam but they didn’t turn up anything useful. I checked Launchpad to see if there was a camera app of some kind. That’s when I saw it.
Photo Booth?
Is that still a thing? I popped it open and sure enough, it’s still a thing. I angled my lappy to face the cat and BANG, photo acquired. I opened it up in Photos to clean it up a little and, as always, was a tiny bit saddened by the lack of groovy filters. I messed around with it a tiny bit and then clicked the export button to see what my options were. It used to be able to connect to Flickr, but not any more. I clicked the “more” option at the bottom of the drop down and saw something I never noticed before.
Extensions? In Photos? Huh.
There were no options available but I wasn’t ready to let it go so I did something I never do… I went to the Mac App Store. I searched for Photos Extensions and sure enough a few things came up. I searched for Photos Filters and much to my surprise a Free app displayed. I figured I would install it just to use it as a guinea pig for the Photos extensions. Much to my surprise, it worked!
Now my Flickr Photo-a-Day pic is a Photo Booth snap, edited in Photos, using a third party filter app. It’s just a day of firsts for me!
Oh no! The inherited MacBook wouldn’t install the backup from my 2016 MacBook Pro, and then it wouldn’t reinstall the current MacOS from the Apple server either!
I’m going to try a couple more things, but I am sad. Not really, because my 2016 MacBook Pro is still in pretty much perfect shape, but I like new stuff, you know?
We’ll see what happens.
I think I just inherited a MacBook upgrade. Sweet!
Patches is supervising the Time Machine Restore process.

Good kitty.
