Bummer

Well that didn’t work.

We had a plan to rearrange the kitchen and completely change the look of the front of the house.  It all hinged on moving the fridge to a new location.

It didn’t work.

We moved the fridge and it fit in the space, but it messed up the traffic flow in an unacceptable way.  It was a really good idea but it just didn’t work out.

Bummer.

So instead of rearranging the kitchen over the next two nights, Jen and I rearranged our desks.  Well, the monitors at least.  She’s letting me use the gigantic curved screen puppy.

Works for me!

Heavy

There are changes coming to the kitchen. This box is part of it. It wasn’t supposed to be delivered until next week. It is the heaviest thing I’ve ever had to lift on my own (not really, it just feels that way).

Holy crap it’s heavy.

Week Nine

Week Nine… I mean, come on.

Last week my company hinted that we’re going to be working from home until July at least.  In my head I was thinking July or August.  Nice that we’re on the same page.

Something I ate this morning is messing with me.  If the threat of COVID-19 isn’t enough, try throwing an upset stomach on top of the lock down.  Sucks, mate.

The temper fuses are most definitely getting shorter.  Without naming any names, I think that age has something to do with it.  The younger your general age group, the shorter the fuse and the easier it is for something innocuous to set you off.  I’m positive that it’s all ‘rona related.  No one is acting stressed out at any given time, but the overall background stress level is so insanely high that it doesn’t take much to go from casual, happy go lucky to, grrrrrrrrrr.

For me personally, I am trying to keep this in mind any time I feel my temper rising but I am doing a really awful, pathetic job regulating myself.  I’ve lost my shit over stuff that is so minor it technically doesn’t exist but I haven’t been able to stop myself.  I’ve read a comment on Facebook for something stupid and next thing I know I am out of my head with fury.

Hey Robert… lighten up, Francis.

Thursday is the two month point for me.  Saturday March 14th was my first full day after work sent us home.  Thursday is May 14th.

How ridiculous is that?

Continue to stay safe.  Continue to do the social distance.  Don’t be a dick and go out without a mask.  Don’t be a dick in general.

Good and Bad

I recorded some guitars today, which is good, but while I was doing it I missed a Richard Thompson live stream, which is bad.

Go to royalalberthall.com to watch the recording… I’m watching it now.

Photo Booth?

Patches was laying down on my desk.  I thought it was a good candidate for today’s photo-a-day.  Unfortunately she was sitting on my phone, and my Nikon was not quickly accessible.  What can I do?

Well, I have a webcam on my laptop.  Could I use that?  I did a Spotlight Search for camera and webcam but they didn’t turn up anything useful.  I checked Launchpad to see if there was a camera app of some kind.  That’s when I saw it.

Photo Booth?

Is that still a thing?  I popped it open and sure enough, it’s still a thing.  I angled my lappy to face the cat and BANG, photo acquired.  I opened it up in Photos to clean it up a little and, as always, was a tiny bit saddened by the lack of groovy filters.  I messed around with it a tiny bit and then clicked the export button to see what my options were.  It used to be able to connect to Flickr, but not any more.  I clicked the “more” option at the bottom of the drop down and saw something I never noticed before.

Extensions?  In Photos?  Huh.

There were no options available but I wasn’t ready to let it go so I did something I never do… I went to the Mac App Store.  I searched for Photos Extensions and sure enough a few things came up.  I searched for Photos Filters and much to my surprise a Free app displayed.  I figured I would install it just to use it as a guinea pig for the Photos extensions.  Much to my surprise, it worked!

Now my Flickr Photo-a-Day pic is a Photo Booth snap, edited in Photos, using a third party filter app.  It’s just a day of firsts for me!

253/365 - I took this with Photo Booth because... it was there.

Happy Mothers Day

Are you someone’s mother?  Are you having a happy Mothers Day?  I hope so,

Bellana and Harry made brunch for their mum.  Scotch eggs and sausage patties.  Sooo good.  I know your mother appreciated it.

Happy mothers day to all the mothers out there.  I mean that literally, not in a kind of Samuel Jackson slang kinda way.  If you are someone’s mother, happy Mothers Day!

I’m mostly looking at my beloved wife, Jen and my mother who doesn’t read this blog ever, but also to all the other Moms.  Also, if you are a mother and you don’t live in the US and therefore don’t celebrate Mothers Day today, that’s okay.  I’m talking to you too.

Happy Mothers Day!
