Just call me the Iron Chef, babie.

Just call me the Iron Chef, babie.

Let’s review the task list for today…
Cut the front grass, including plugging a hole in the gas tank and running the weed wacker.
Cleaned up the current cellar water crap.
Put away six megatons of groceries.
Did two loads of laundry.
Started a new character in World of Warcraft and made it to level six and died a lot.
Broke the shit out of a fingernail while taking my guitar out of its case.
Started a new song, put rhythm guitars onto it and one other song, then put leads onto three songs.
Surprised myself by how tired and sore my hands got after playing the guitar for about an hour.
Finished the binge watch of Community (well, it will be done in three and a half minutes).
Started thinking about cooking dinner.
Stood up from my desk to walk into the kitchen to start making dinner.
I am pretty sure I’m forgetting something. I don’t mean that I am forgetting to put the lawn mower away, I know it’s still sitting outside waiting for me to put it back under the tarp, I just haven’t gotten to it yet. I mean I am forgetting to list something that I actually did today. Shit.
Oh well, I took the obligatory I’m-done-playing-guitar-so-here’s-a-pic pics.
Here you go.
Have I mentioned I hate wordpress.com’s block editor? I think I have. If I haven’t, I hate wordpress.com’s block editor.
You’ve seen the problem with the lawn mower. I saw a mouse hanging out under the tarp with the mower when I brought it out today. I’m going to assume it’s the cause of the hole in the gas tank.
That’s actually the second problem. The first is the wet vac. I think it’s going to need replacing soon. The filter is completely falling apart. It looks like it’s rotting off. Lovely.
The third problem just revealed itself. I have one spot in the front yard that the lawn mower can’t get to. It is a little rock garden spot. I use the weed-wacker to clear it. I got about 95% of the way through today when I ran out of thread. Gee, I hope I can find a new spool. Sonofabitch.
At least I got the entire front yard (minus the 5% of the rock garden) clear before the rain comes. Oh yeah, rain. The water in the cellar is still trickling in, but it’s not as bad as it was a couple of days ago. Two days of rain this weekend should bring it right back to where it was at its worst. Sonofabitch.
Well thanks, random wilderness critters.

I’m neither a mechanic nor an engineer but I’m pretty sure a hole gnawed into your gas tank is not a good thing. I’ve temp fixed it with duct* tape but it’s leaky to say the least.
Yippee.
*The iPhone auto corrected “duct” to “sexy”, the friggin perv.
I’m racing against the coming rain.

I had to go out to find myself some lunch. I ended up here and I don’t even know where here is:

I took this after I packed up because my stuff was all moved around when I got in this morning:

Here is the results of my shitty drive home. Just like shitty old shitty times shitty:

I picked up my new glasses yesterday. One pair of progressive lenses for general use, and one pair of intermediate depth for sitting at the computer.
It’s kind of a whole new world.
My old glasses were progressive so when I worked at the computer I had to search around to find the sweet spot that gave the clearest view of the screen. Normal walking around or driving stuff didn’t require any work. Reading a book… that was tough.
So far the new glasses, both pairs, are doing fine. The Computer glasses felt odd when I first sat at my desk yesterday. I thought I might struggle getting used to them. Next thing I knew an hour had passed and I never noticed them at all. It was like I wasn’t wearing them. Brilliant! The progressives are… progressives. Looking straight ahead is fine. Turning your head can cause the world to go a little out of whack. Shapes and angles get a little screwy, but only a little. No issues walking around or driving or watching TV or anything.
The issue I am having is remembering to switch. I sat at my desk for an hour or so this morning then got up to take a pit stop before my first meeting. I forgot to swap glasses and the walk to the can was a blurry adventure. It wasn’t a problem, it was just different. I came back from lunch and forgot to switch from general to computer and the screen looked a little freaky. Oops, gotta make the change again.
I got bigger frames this time and having more lens in my face is making a big difference. Give me a couple of days and I don’t think I will be able to function with my old glasses anymore. That’s kinda the point though, right?
Three hours and eight minutes until the weekend. I just came back from two days off, sort of a mid-week weekend, so I shouldn’t be in that I need the weekend right now state of mind… but I totally am. I need me some weekend. I don’t have to nana sit until Sunday, so I’m hoping for a nice, calm, fun, relaxing day with the love of my life tomorrow. Maybe we’ll watch Black Widow. We can kick back and relax while watching an Avenger beat the shit out of bad guys. Sounds like a good Saturday to me.
Seems like the older I get the more I feel that “I forgot something” feeling. I had it this morning as I was leaving the house to go to the office for work.
My stomach just rumbled.
I remember what I forgot.
Lunch.
This videos is a commercial and it’s getting on to two years old, but it’s also a nice little history lesson and the three guitars it’s selling are absolutely glorious.
Gibson Les Paul Standards made from 1958-60 are called Bursts and they are the holy grail.
