Welcome to Spring (He Said Sarcastically)

I posted yesterday about how happy I was that Spring officially started last night at 11:06pm my time.

I woke up this morning all pleased that it was officially Spring at last, even though the temperature was still low and I knew it wouldn’t make any real difference to anything at all.

Then, while driving to work, mother nature did what she often does. She kicked me in the nuts.

It started to snow.

Well, of course it did!

Happy “Spring” everyone.

Want Some Good News?

Hey everyone, want to hear some good news? Some happy news? Something to cheer you up after months and months of gloom?

Spring starts today. In the Eastern Time Zone in the United States (where I live), Spring officially starts at 11:06pm.

That sound you just heard was my emphatic sigh of relief. Sure, I will likely be asleep when the change happens (I hope so at least, I am beat today) but I will celebrate it just as well.

Kiss my ass, winter. Don’t let the door hit you on the ass on your way out.

Catching the Bug Again

Daylight Savings starts tonight. Just a few hours from now. The weather has been getting noticeably warmer of late. Spring is coming, and with it comes the return of the bug…

The photography bug.

I was looking at my camera bag today. The bag that has two film cameras inside. They are calling me. The bug is back, folks and I am going to have to give in to it at some point soon.

Boston… I’ve been saying for two years that I want to bring the cameras into the city and shoot everything there. This is the year, I’m telling you. This is the year.

Bring on that good weather. Give me some clear skies at sunrise and that sweet golden light. Bring me some stuff to photograph and a digital camera in one hand and a film camera in the other. The time is almost upon us, folks. I will be ready.

Back Yard Fun

Bird house number one is hanging in the front of the house. No tenants yet. Bird house number two was hung on a baby pine tree this morning.

Bird house number three was hung on the tree right outside the bedroom door, which is also the first tree in the yard to start coming alive. Green!

Finally, for now at least, the bird feeders are full. It’s Spring, babie! Enjoy!

Spring is Minutes Away!

According to the website almanac.com, Spring in the Northern Hemisphere starts at 5:24pm today. In my time zone, that’s 12 minutes from now!

Oh Happiness! Oh Bliss! Oh Rapture! The son of a bitch we call Winter is going to officially end in just a few minutes! 11 minutes to go!

Now if only we could just flip a switch and have warm, happy weather right on queue instead of weeks more of cold and dreary awful. Sure, Winter is ending, but the crappy conditions are going to stick around for a while. It’s Spring, how about no more ice at all until next December? Can we make that happen? Nine minutes to go!

Eight minutes to go now! I am so excited!

Seven minutes to go! I can’t wait! It’s almost here!

Sun

Spring is the best, isn’t it? It makes me want to take faux artsy pics of sun and shadow while listening to a Genesis song about a mouse and cooking chicken and quinoa.

Granted it would be better if it were warmer than the current 34 degrees. Brr.

Busy Sunday

Jen and I spent our Sunday morning prepping the kitchen and the dining room both for the next week’s worth of contractors and for what comes after the contractors are done. Mostly we just talked about redesigning things and cleaning up some of the places that require changes. We also built the first piece of pre-fab kitchen furniture. The ball is rolling and it is out of control.

The Bruins traded for a new defenseman and the Red Sox signed a new infielder (I think). I don’t know either of them because I am completely out of touch, but they both received long term contracts so maybe they’re both pretty good? I hope so. I missed the last couple of Bruins games so I didn’t hear that Bergeron is injured. Shit.

I may have made a decision about music last night and it may result in more annoying blog posts. Duck and cover kids. It was well after midnight and I should have been asleep but I was wide awake. I started poking through my Alonetone account. I listened to a few things from the last couple of re-recording projects. I thought to myself… do I want to do another one? I have six “albums”, do I want to do a seventh? There are two or three songs from last month’s RPM Challenge that might be worth another look. There’s also a couple of songs from the previous RPM that might be worthwhile too. Shit… I think I am starting to put together Quarantine Tunes Volume Seven. Just when you thought it was safe to listen to music again.

Spring officially began about an hour and 10 minutes ago. We survived another Winter. Now we just need to avoid any unscheduled Spring snow. That would be nice, right?

Okay. I need to do some laundry. I’ll talk to you later.
