Flickr, the photography site that I have been an avid user of since 2009, even though it’s been sort of overlooked and forgotten by most of the social media and photography universe, is going to celebrate it’s 20th birthday next month. The big day is a few days after my wife’s birthday, and a week-ish after my step son’s birthday, which is also my nephew’s birthday.

I guess Threads embeds still don’t work with wordpress.com. Hmmm…
This might work better… friggin’ zuckerberg…
Anyway, they have a bunch of things planned including some photowalks. I don’t see anything scheduled for Boston and even if they do schedule something it’s 99.9999% guaranteed that I would not join in, even from a social distance. Still… it would be nice, right? Granted, not nice enough for me to try to get something started. No way in hell would Mr Introvert do something crazy like that. No thank you.
Anyway, Flickr’s birthday is February 10th. Take some pictures to celebrate.
Wow… Wednesday… am I right or am I right?
It’s a work-in-the-office day. I woke up nice and early, though about half an hour later than I was hoping. I had a lot of meetings on my work calendar today, the first of them being very early in the day. I wanted to make sure I could get through my whole morning routine, including 45 minutes of jogging (pronounced yogging) in place and making lunch and packing emergency protein snacks and all of that stuff while still leaving enough time for me to get to work a little early.
Unfortunately when I got out of bed I saw that we got a dusting of snow overnight. Not a lot, but enough to cover everything and guarantee a terrible morning commute. I was hoping to get out onto the road by 7:15. I made it by 7:20, but I had to cut my exercise in half to pull off that feat. That means I am going to have to yog tonight when I get home and I really do not want to do that. I wasn’t late to work, but it did take me an hour and a half to drive the 40 miles.
Now that it’s about 2:30 in the afternoon, I have survived two big meetings and I have a third coming up in half an hour. I’m stressing out, big time, but once I get through today I will not have to worry about this sort of thing for a while and I am happy about that idea.
Tomorrow and Friday I will be working from home. I am optimistic that I will be able to get a lot of music done before work both days. Fingers crossed for some guitar playing and car vocals and fun stuff like that. I’m also thinking it would be nice to mix a song or two over the weekend. Doesn’t that sound like fun?
For now though, I am really tired and can’t wait to get through my next meeting so that I can relax a little. Maybe if I can get my exercise finished right after dinner tonight I might be able to go to bed early and enjoy not having to stress over a work project for the first time in a couple of weeks. Fingers crossed, right?
I am so busy at work today that I almost feel dizzy.
So many meetings.
So much going on today.
Gonna need a nap.
Oh yeah, I have a good answer for this prompt. I live in Methuen, MA right on the Massachusetts/New Hampshire state line. The town next door to us is Salem, NH (not to be confused with the witch trials in Salem, MA). There is a pre-colonial site in Salem that I have never been to but will visit (with my camera) one of these days.
It is called America’s Stonehenge.
I don’t have a lot of time to work on this post right now so let me see if the AI assistant can write a description of the place…
Located in Salem, New Hampshire, America’s Stonehenge is a mysterious pre-colonial archaeological site shrouded in intrigue. This enigmatic complex features a series of stone structures, chambers, and astronomical alignments, sparking numerous theories and debates about its origins and purpose. Believed to be over 4,000 years old, it is often compared to England’s Stonehenge due to its fascinating alignments with solar and lunar events. Visitors can explore the site, ponder the enigmatic stone structures, and delve into the captivating history and speculation surrounding this ancient enigma.
A.I. Assistant, because Robert was too busy (and possibly too lazy) to write a little description himself
This site has been on my to-do list for years and years. When I first got my first DSLR camera in 2009 I made a list of places to photograph and American’s Stonehenge was on the list. I never got there though… possibly because the place is supposed to be a bit of a joke. I mentioned it to my wife once, ages ago, and she said she wanted to visit it with me. Maybe this year, once the weather improves, will be the year. Then the next time the daily prompt asks this same exact question (it will happen at some point, we all know it) I will have to think harder to come up with a response.
Until then… queue the Spinal Tap song (which I would find a copy of on youtube if I wasn’t so busy right now).
I took two hours of sick time to bring the cat to the vet. Now my internal clock/calendar is convinced it’s not Tuesday when it is in fact Tuesday. Let’s write a haiku about it and see if it exorcises this particular demon….
Messed up inner clock,
Keeps telling me it’s Thursday.
That’s not even close!
Nope… my idiotic brain is still telling me it’s Thursday. Shit.
Lily is home with a clean bill of health. She got a couple of shots, which doesn’t make her happy, and she had her nails clipped. Other than that, she’s back to normal. The vet staff said she was friendly and wonderful and not a gremlin at all.
I still feel like a prison guard every time I put a cat into the carrier. Lily is done now, but Robin goes to the vet on Friday.
Few things in life make me feel like a horrible person the way bringing a cat to the vet does.

She’s fine. It’s just a check up.
Was today the first car music of 2024? I think so.
I snuck out of the house a few minutes after 7:30, got to the movie theater parking lot (which wasn’t quite as empty as I like it to be) by 7:40 and recorded vocals for two songs until 8:25. I didn’t have time for any more, and even if I did I might not have. It was a struggle today. My voice was very scratchy and I’m not terribly pleased with the results… then again I am never pleased with the results so what difference does it make?
The upside is I now have two songs that are ready for lead guitars. The downside is that I have no calluses on the fingers on my left hand so recording lead guitars is going to hurt a bit. I can hack it though. I’m practically a pro at this… not really… whatever.
Here’s the view of my “studio” today:
There was a truck parked right next to my usual spot so I had to move over a few rows.
In closing, here is the obligatory clock picture:
Five things I do for fun… I can do that, I think…
Okay, there you go. Five things that I do for fun. Sweet.
