I Feel Bad About This

I feel like I dropped a ball at work. I did not, but I feel like I did.

One of the guys in my group was struggling with an issue on Friday. He was sending out chat messages to the rest of us during the morning and I was chipping in where I could. His problem involved a functionality that 10 years ago I was the authority on. It’s been a long time since I’ve had to look into it myself, but I am still often the guy who can straighten things out even though I don’t personally support customers anymore and therefore never have this sort of issue assigned to me directly.

He asked if anyone was available to jump on a video chat and look things over with him. Right about the same time my boss’ boss pulled a whole bunch of people, including me, into a different discussion and I had to shift my focus to that. By the start of the work day today (Monday) my issue was pretty much worked out but my coworker was still struggling. He was on another video call with a few people from other groups and they were trying to figure out what was going wrong. I joined the call and within a few minutes knew what the problem was and how to fix it.

Damn it.

By 10:00am today everything was fine and dandy and right as rain. That’s good. What I am upset with myself about is that if I could have just freed up a few minutes on Friday I could have saved my coworker a lot of stress and had it all wrapped up three days earlier. The customer would have been happy, my coworker would have been happy, and I would have felt like a (very minor) hero. Instead, I feel like let everyone down. Again, I did not, and the thing I was looking at on Friday is really important and has all sorts of upper management eyes on it, but I still wish I could have been there for my coworker sooner than I was. That’s all.

Photo a Day for Today

As usual on a working in the office day, I took a picture for today’s photo a day challenge entry in the cellar before I did my daily exercise (which I had to cut short because I overslept and now am at a high risk of not hitting the activity goals on my Apple Watch because grrrrrrrrrrr). I used my Nikon though. Expect something similar on Wednesday (two days from now), when I work in the office again.

2024 50/90 Challenge Day 32/90

Day 32 (yesterday) was a good day.

It started with adding vocal tracks to five songs. Next I came up with MIDI bass and drums and the song form for three songs. Next, two of those new song forms and one additional song got rhythm guitars. Finally, one of the morning’s vocals got lead guitars.

Today (day 33) is an office day for me so the time is going to be short. I’ll do what I can and see what happens.

HotD – No Spoilers

I just finished watching the season two finale of House of the Dragon. No spoilers here, but it was nothing like what I expected it to be.

I will say this though… as cliffhangers go… it sure was one. Cliffhangers on top of cliffhangers on top of cliffhangers. The worst part is we’re probably going to have to wait another two years before we get any resolution. Here’s hoping the break between seasons two and three is shorter by far than the break between seasons one and two.

Sleepy Sunday

I didn’t sleep very well last night and then I got up pretty early (though not as early as I had planned) this morning. I did a bunch of stuff, including lots of chores around the house. There was a little time earlier this afternoon where I actually conked out on the couch. It was only a few minutes, but it happened.

That leads to the sleepiness question… am I going to be able to stay up long enough to watch the season two finale of House of the Dragon on HBO? It comes out at 9:00 on the Max app. I have clean sheets on the bed (one of today’s chores) and sitting up in bed while watching HotD is going to be a challenge.

I thought I might take an actual nap after dinner tonight but Jen and I discovered that the first chunk of the new season of Cobra Kai is out on Netflix so we can’t do anything until we watch that, right?

Right?

TV… we live in the golden age, my friends.

Play

Did I play any guitar today? Why yes, yes I did. rhythm guitars on three songs and lead on one. I played my number one, my Les Paul Custom. It went well. I am hoping I have a little more playing in me for later this afternoon. Here’s hoping.

Car Music: Complete

I was much later getting started than I like to be but I did pull off a car music this morning. I put vocals on five songs. I now have songs that are ready for some guitar tracks. Maybe we’ll pick some of those off today too. This might be a good day, I think.

Pictures… not iPhone, but Z5. I took my camera with me. Two days in a row I took it outside. Nice.

2024 50/90 Challenge Day 31/90

Lyrics. Lots of lyrics. Melodies too. Five songs in total. Enough to justify a car music trip to start day 32… assuming I can get my shit together here. I overslept a little and I have a few things to do before I sing in the car.

Get to it, Robert.

Car Music Tomorrow

I didn’t play guitar today, but I did set myself up for a nice vocal session in the car tomorrow morning. Assuming I don’t massively oversleep, which is starting to seem more and more likely.

Car music, kids! Let’s do this! After I sleep, of course. I’m totally exhausted.
