Weird Week

I am having a weird week and I feel like I have to write it down in order to make sense of it.

It’s a full work week for me. Five days. I am going to be out for a couple of hours in the middle of the day tomorrow, but other than that we’re on the normal schedule.

Why then did yesterday (Tuesday) feel like Friday? All day long I was focusing on the imminent start of the weekend… when the weekend was still more than three days off. It did not make any sense. Now it’s Wednesday and somehow, unbelievably, it still feels like Friday? I just don’t get it.

Does this mean that tomorrow (Thursday) is going to feel like Friday too? Is every day going to feel like Friday until I actually get a Friday? Is every day going to feel like Friday until the end of time? How is that going to affect the weekend? Is Saturday (if it ever gets here) going to feel like Monday? Or Tuesday? Or Blurnsday?

What caused this epic scramble in my internal calendar? What caused my brain to go so far off the rails? Will I ever recover and get back to normal? The answers are, I don’t know, I don’t know, and probably not. Oh well.

I have about an hour and 40 minutes until my Wednesday (not Friday) work day ends. Once that happens I can start wondering if Thursday is going to feel like Friday too. I’ll let you know how that goes.

Optimism?

I can admit when I am wrong. It doesn’t happen often (that is sarcasm, it happens constantly) but when it does I can fess up to it.

When the media was going on and on about Joe Biden dropping out of the race I was very much a pissed off red head. No way. We held the primary. He won. That’s it. Yes he is old, but the nazi orange shit clown is old too and Joe is WAY more stable than that putz was even in his prime. I wanted Joe to stay in the race.

Then he dropped out. Shit. That’s when something I didn’t expect happened. Kamala Harris stepped up and somehow… magically… unified the entire party. Suddenly we were all on the same page and ready to go. Had that ever happened in my lifetime? Maybe late in Obama’s first run we might have felt something like this, but I don’t think it was this intense. Maybe it’s a social media echo chamber kind of thing where the algorithms are only bringing me people I agree with (yes, I know that’s a big part of this) but come one, folks. The transition from the Biden campaign to the Harris campaign was electric. It felt GREAT.

I will admit it. I was wrong about wanting Biden to stay in the race. Given what we know now, that would have been the wrong move.

Now we are adding Tim Walz to the ticket as Harris’ running mate and that unified feeling has intensified times a billion. Where has this guy been all of our lives? I feel so good about the state of things right now that I could almost be described as… I don’t want to say it but… I could almost be described as feeling patriotic. Almost. Who the hell saw that coming?

Harris/Walz in 2024. I might want to throw some more money at them. Bring it on!

Thinking Ahead to Tomorrow

I absolutely, 100% have to play guitar before work tomorrow. Not because I need to make progress on the 50 songs in 90 days challenge thing, but because I have a band practice tomorrow after work and I have 2-3 new songs to learn for it.

That’s a nice change of pace, eh?

It’s been a long time since we had a practice. I really need it. Hopefully the rest of the band needs it too and it doesn’t get postponed the way the last four or five or whatever were. Fingers crossed, music lovers.

2024 50/90 Challenge Day 34/90

Day 34 is the same as day 33. Two new songs. MIDI bass and drums are done. That’s it. We’re up to 35 songs in the pipeline now. I’m going to need to start recording guitars and writing lyrics soon. I need to get some momentum going again and I need to do it soon.

Random Tuesday Morning Thoughts

This morning I did what might be the most bad ass thing I’ve ever done. I was in the bathroom, getting ready for my day. I looked down at the floor and saw a spider running toward me. I was barefoot. He was moving really fast. I didn’t have time to pick something up so… I stepped on it with bare feet.

Like I said… bad ass.

Vice President Harris picked her running mate. Minnesota Governor Tim Walz. He used to be a high school teacher. I think that is outstanding. I think that’s the kind of thing we need. He also never committed treason and tried to overthrow the Federal Government. I think that makes him a good choice.

The Smashing Pumpkins released a new album this week. I really did not like the last couple. I tried. I really did. I just couldn’t get into them. This one though… I’ve listened to seven of the 10 songs so far this morning and it’s really good. I’m enjoying this record a lot.

I did not get a chance to play any guitar this morning before work. I just procrastinated and ran out of time. I wanted to, but I failed. I won’t have time tomorrow morning, so let’s hope for better time management on Thursday. I did take a couple of pictures though. One is basically yesterday’s photo a day picture taken from the opposite angle. How creative of me?

Finally, in closing… a cat.

2024 50/90 Challenge Day 33/90

Not a lot happened on day 33, but what I got to was okay.

Two new songs. The pipeline is up to 33 now. Both newbies have MIDI Bass and drums. They were both noodled out starting with bass lines. I have a sneaking suspicion that one of them is going to end up being too difficult to play on the guitar. We’ll see.

Ugliest Thing Ever

I saw what might be the ugliest thing I’ve ever seen.

It was during this morning’s drive in to work.

It was a Tesla cybertruck. It was not silver/chrome colored like all of the uggo’s I had seen before. It was worse. It was this awful orange/rust/blood filled vomit color. It was heinous.

At first I wished I could have grabbed a photo of it (I was driving and couldn’t pull it off safely) but now? Now I’m glad that I can spare you the horror of its grossness.

You’re welcome, but also… it’s still out there. The ugliest thing on Earth.

Beware.
