My hair. Just… my hair.
I probably wrote about this already, but it is a seemingly never ending source of crazy. When all of this crap started I was already needing a haircut. Now we’re into week seven and oh my crap this is insufferable.
As it was starting to cover my eyes I joked with my wife saying that I would cut it myself once it was long enough for me to accidentally inhale it up my nose. It’s still not there, but it’s long enough that it is starting to reach the tip of my nose. Given how lightning fast my hair grows, I expect it to be up my nose by week’s end.
I have two Facebook friends who own hair salons. One of them warned that they can’t fix your hair if it’s not there. Don’t cut it off, she said. That was three (I think) weeks ago though. How much longer am I supposed to hold out?
I am willing to bet a fair sum of money that youtube contains a plethora of videos that will instruct viewers on how to cut their own hair. Failing that, I am guessing amazon has a fair share of affordable clippers that would at the very least get the hair out of my eyes.
Hair, man. Hair.
New song, literally everything about it is a gimmick.
I still can’t believe that I made a four of a kind in a game of five card draw last night.
I took statistics in college, but that was 10 thousand years ago and I don’t remember how to calculate the probability of pulling four of a kind. So I googled it:
A four-of-a-kind is four cards showing the same number plus any other card.
If we order the 5-card hand with the four-of-a-kind first, we have 13C1 choices for the number showing on the first four cards. Since we will have all four suits, we have only 4C4 = 1 way to choose the suits. The remaining card will be any of the 48 remaining cards:
# 4-of-a-kinds = 13C1·4C4·48C1 = 13·1·48 = 624
Dividing by the number of possible hands gives the probability:
P(4 – of – a – kind) = 624/2,598,960 = 2.401⋅10−4 or 1 in 4165
1 in 4165.
Can you believe it? I mean it was just a friendly game with my wife and my step kids. We were betting pennies, but each player’s pennies came out of the same little jar.
But still… four of a freakin’ kind!
It would have been cooler if it was aces instead of twos, but it was still uber awesome.
The turkeys have been out in force this week.

I’m not a good singer. We all know that. I know it more than anyone because… well… it’s me, you know?
This morning I took my MacBook and a microphone and an audio interface and drove over to the mall and found a parking spot and started singing…
It wasn’t my usual bad…
It was so much worse.
So. Much. Worse.
I had six songs ready to go but I only got to five of them. The last song was a bonus. I only needed five more to get to the required 10. When I finished the fifth song my battery was low, my throat hurt from yelling, my bladder was full (TMI, and not actually related to singing), and my brain was fried, so I went home. Song #11 will probably be dropped. Maybe.
At some point tonight I’ll start lead guitars and then I’ll start mixing and then April will be finished and it will be time to start thinking about May.
