Where Would We Go?

Daily writing prompt
If you won two free plane tickets, where would you go?

There are two answers to this question. One is the obvious answer that would absolutely happen. The other is the what else could we do answer.

The obvious answer is I would take two tickets to Orlando, FL and my wife and I would go to Disney World. That is her favorite place to travel to, so that is absolutely where we would go.

The what if answer is tougher to decide on. What if meaning, what if Jen for some reason didn’t want a free flight down to Disney World. I would probably say London. That way we could see a legendary, epic city and also take a ride up to Scotland to see the land where my wife’s family comes from, and also take a boat over to Ireland to see the land where my family comes from. That would be pretty neat, right?

There’s also France. We could see Paris and maybe train around to other major cities on the European continent. My step daughter’s travels during her study abroad program have opened my eyes to just how many amazing options there are on the continent and how all of them are seemingly in reach of each other.

If we decided to stay in the US though it would be San Diego. That would be my first choice. We’ve also been thinking of maybe visiting the Grand Canyon or some places in Arizona or Utah or Nevada. Natural wonders type things rather than cities. Those would be options.

We would totally go to Disney World though. Without question. Without hesitation.

4:35am

It’s 4:35am. The sun will come up at Hampton Beach at 5:31. I should be there. The cameras are packed along with a couple of extra rolls of film that I do not expect to need, I have a breakfast of protein bars in a bag, my morning vitamins are being taken with some sugar free Gatorade as I type this, my defective tripod and a folding chair are still in the car from last time. I am going to need a nap when I get home, but other than that I think we’re good to go.

Let’s go sunrise chasing and cross our fingers that the cloud cover is minimal like the weather app says it should be. The question again is, where do I stop on the way home for bonus photo time? I’m thinking downtown Lowell. We’ll see.

Ocean Shoot Mark II

The sun will come up at Hampton Beach tomorrow at 5:31am. If I am going to get there in time I have to leave the house by 4:50 at the latest. I would have to be out of bed by 4:20 or so.

Can I do another sunrise shoot? The second one in a week?

I’m pretty tired tonight… but I think I will pack the cameras into a backpack before bed tonight. You know, just in case.

Photography is fun, isn’t it?

TV

Doctor Who is gonna be jealous.

I’ve been binge watching the two Doctor Who shows with a vengeance. Last night I made the mistake of getting distracted by other shows. Season two of Foundation started a few weeks ago. I know Azimov readers hate it and all, but I am not an Azimov reader and I enjoyed season one. I watched the first episode of season two last night. When I was fishing through the Apple video app looking for it I saw a link for Silo and, well… I had to start that too. Now on top of that, season two of Good Omens comes out today so I have to watch that one too.

Doctor Who is still the TV priority, apart from Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, which I watch as soon as the new episodes are released, but I am going to have to share TV time with some other shows as well. I also want to get back to Severance and Party Down and Star Trek: Deep Space 9 and The X-Files.

Our television cup runneth over, right? Sheesh!

Addendum: WordPress.com seems to have changed the reblog editor. Doesn’t this just suck? Next time I’ll put the image first and see how that goes, but if it’s not going to display the image in the reblog snippet, I am not going to cross post anymore. The image is the whole point. Shit.

Spinning Media

331/365

I tried to take this photo using my ebay Nikon with my father’s zoom lens. After I took it, I set my Z5 with the same settings and took a digital version. The differences are image stabilization and auto focus, both of which the digital camera and lens have but the film camera and lens do not have. This looks okay, focus-wise. The film shot? It’s going to be a shaky, messy, waste of a shot.

Oh well.

I did the same thing with this shot of Lily, and the results are going to be the same. Okay on digital, horrid disaster on film. Bank on it.

2023 50/90 Challenge Days 23 & 24/90

Not much to report on the song writing challenge front over the last two days. Day 23 was Wednesday and I didn’t do anything. Day 24 was yesterday, Thursday, and I didn’t get shut out but I also didn’t do much. I wanted to do a car music and track some vocals and maybe get a mix or two in and maybe write some lyrics but instead all I did was add two new song ideas. Just a couple of bass lines and a drum groove. All midi. I’m a little disappointed in myself for two days with very little progress, but the weekend is almost here and I am hoping to get a ton of music in (as well as more photography goofiness). Jen has plans to work on a project this weekend, so I will dedicate myself to a project or two as well. Harry will be paying a visit too so I will dedicate however much time he is here to him. I also want to visit my father on Saturday. It’s his anniversary, and the first since my mother passed. It’s going to be very sad and I don’t know if I am up for it. Mother’s day was rough but I fear this is going to be rougher.

So now we’re up to date on (more than) the current music project.
