Snow Check In 4

3:00pm looks pretty much the same as 1:00pm. That’s the wind. The storm hasn’t slowed at all, but the wind is making it hard to judge accumulation. There are huge drifts in some places and almost nothing in others.

Right now the driveway doesn’t look bad at all, but the cars look buried. The wind does that. Oh well.

Patiently Waiting

Here I sit, patiently waiting…

Patiently waiting for the severe thunderstorm to wipe us off the map.

Patiently waiting for my mother’s pain issues to come out and play for the night. She has already shown the initial signs.

Patiently waiting for Covid to go away so that we can go on vacation. Jen and I had a precious few minutes together after work and before I had to leave and we spent it watching a Disney World youtube channel. I wanna travel again.

Patiently waiting to go home, but I’ve got about 22 hours or so before that happens.

Okay, it’s time for the 8:00 o’clock pills. I’ll check in again later. Happy trails.

Elsa Watch

We’re supposed to get hit with the tail end of a tropical storm today. Elsa. Insert Disney jokes here. Disney loving cosplayers up and down the East coast must be loving this today.

The rain is supposed to be heavy. The Dark Sky app just gave me a flash flood warning. Hooray. It has been raining pretty heavily off and on for a couple of weeks now and we started seeing some water seeping into the cellar by the end of last week. It’s not a lot. We get a puddle along one wall and it spills out into what’s left of the finished basement a little. I clean it up, check in a few hours later and it’s back. Now having a tropical storm hit us on top of that? Shit.

The storm is supposed to be over by late afternoon. I’ll keep an eye on things. The dehumidifier is running full blast but it’s filling up pretty quickly. The wet vac is on standby. I’ll probably have to empty it soon. I’ve actually been dumping the dehumidifier into it so that I only have to carry one thing outside.

Wish us luck.

Monday…Blah

Monday…. ugh… another Monday.

A full five day work week this week, then a three day work week next week and then Thanksgiving. So close, yet so far away.

I coulda sworn I heard something big fall during the storm last night. I took a look outside today and couldn’t see anything. Either I didn’t hear what I thought I heard, or it was just a lot deeper in the woods than it sounded. No big deal, all is well.

I might be in for a difficult day on the intermittent fasting front. Let me tell you the story. I mentioned our pizza lunch. When dinner time came neither of us was hungry so we both just made something small. I was done eating by about 6:00. After that I played guitar for an hour or so. Then Jen and I did a big chunk of our 30 minute workout together. After that I played guitar a little more. When I was done I started getting my iPad ready to watch the double shot of Walking Dead spin offs, and was about to do the last few minutes of my workout. That’s when I realized it was 8:55.

I only had five minutes to eat before the fast started and I hadn’t eaten in almost three hours. I was looking at 19 hours without food. Crap. I grabbed a handful of crackers and scarfed them down. It didn’t matter. By 10:00 I was already feeling hungry. Today is going to be tough. Four hours and 15 minutes to go.

Okay, off to work. Wish me luck.

More of the Nothing

Nothing going on today. I get to leave work a little early tomorrow, and Thursday is a holiday, and I get to telecommute on Friday, but today there is nothing going on.

Last night was weird. I went to bed early and got a ton of sleep. I woke up after six hours (because my brain hates me) but was able to get back to sleep and clocked in a total of about eight hours. It’s been so long. So very, very long.

Yesterday’s tornado warning that covered most of the Merrimack Valley did not end up in a tornado, but Methuen got some major storm action. None of us were home for any of it, but there were huge puddles everywhere and the Methuen PD reported some minor flooding. The worst part of the weather was the mystery it left in our back yard.

When I got home the bird feeder was off the hook, laying on the ground empty. That begs the question, did the wind and the storm knock it over or did the damn dirty squirrels knock it off first. It was empty, so there was some serious squirrel mischief, but did they initiate it or not? It’s a mystery. One that may never be solved.

I’m still concerned about the weather forecast for tomorrow. There is a 30% chance of precipitation and calls for scattered thunderstorms. I want to take the kids to the Methuen fireworks. The rain date is Friday, and this Friday the kids are at their dad’s. The weather has to be good on Wednesday.

It reminds me of Woodstock. Maybe if we all think real hard we can stop this rain (from coming).

No Rain!
No Rain!
No Rain!

Hooray for Spring

Is everyone enjoying March 19th so far? It’s the last day of winter and Mother Nature is proving it. Snow. Lots of snow. It’s still falling too. Hooray. Tomorrow is the first day of Spring. We are going to celebrate by shoveling.

All and all this has been a mild winter. The first snow storm actually happened in the Fall, so that doesn’t count. We didn’t really have to deal with any snowy weather until February. While the over all season hasn’t been too bad, February and March have sucked.

March 2013, in like a lion and out like a bigger, angrier lion.

Mother Nature Continues to be a Big Fat Jerk

What the hell is this?

Spring officially begins at some point on Wednesday.  The day after tomorrow.  How is Mother Nature (the jerk) honoring this change of season?

By dumping 3-5 freakin’ inches of snow on us overnight tonight?  Oh, screw you!

On an only slightly related note, is there anything lamer than weather.com’s gimmick of naming winter storms?  Come on, you idiots, snow storms are not deserving of names.  They are little piddly things compared to tropical storms.  Get over yourselves.  It’ll be hurricane season soon enough and then you twerps can have your named storms again.

Urgh.

Spring had better get its springy ass here quick.
