Fanboy Weekend

The last two episodes of The Book of Boba Fett have been so good that I have had Star Wars on the brain for days. This weekend, while I should have been doing more productive things, I have watched the whole sequel trilogy. I didn’t mean to. I was just in that mood, you know? On Friday night I just went over to the Disney+ and popped on Rise of Skywalker. It turned my nerd up to 11. Yesterday I did the same with The Last Jedi. A little while ago I put on The Force Awakens. It’s on right now. FN2187 just got chewed out by Captain Phasma.

So yeah, I watched them in reverse order. So what? You wanna make something out of it?

The Book of Boba Fett ends on Wednesday. Then what? Star Trek Picard comes back in early March. The next Marvel series comes out in late March, I think. When do the zombies come back? Oh Google? The second part of the three part 11th season of The Walking Dead comes back on February 20th. So why not watch me some Star Wars, even if it is in reverse order? Maybe next weekend I’ll start a Marvel rewatch. It probably won’t be in reverse order though.

Think I can blow through the whole MCU in one weekend?

Kirk in Space

90 year old William Shatner, Star Trek’s Captain Kirk, went to space today. He went on a Blue Origin rocket, aka Amazon. He is the oldest human ever to go to space. Fitting that it’s the cat who commanded the ship that took us to the final frontier.

When I heard that he was going today I was a little nervous. I was afraid he might get lost and I started wondering if he should have brought George Takei with him.

Yeah… that’s a Star Trek joke. I mean, come on. It’s the single most obvious attempt at humor in the history of the English language, or at least in the history of Western Civilization since Star Trek the original series was on the air. If you don’t get it, Takei played the guy who drove Shatner’s ship. Get it now?

Okay.

What a friggin’ day.

Good on you, Bill. I just hope Bezos paid for your ticket.

Picard Season 2

I almost missed this one. The trailer for season 2 of Star Trek Picard.

To all the people losing their shit, Q looks older because he wants to look older, m’kay? That’s why Q looks older. Right, now let’s move on.

Still no release date other than 2022, which seems ridiculous until you realize that 2022 is only six months away.

Crud.

First Contact Day

Did I know about this? I must have known about this. I don’t think I knew this, but it’s freakin’ nerd-vana whether I knew it or not.

As mentioned previously today is the anniversary of the first date my wife and I went on. Dinner in Lowell next door to the movie theater, and then a drive across town to the old Brew House where we just hung out for a long time.

April 5, 2007. A landmark day in my life.

In Star Trek world, April 5th is also the anniversary of the first human traveling faster than light AND the first human contact with an alien race. They made a movie about it. It was one of the really good ones.

In Star Trek fandom day is referred to as First Contact Day.

Our First Dateiversary is on First Contact Day. Holy shit snacks that is fitting! Granted, it was our first contact in person. We’d been chatting on line for a few months prior to actually going on a date, but let’s not worry about the semantics, our First Contact was on First Contact Day and oh my goodness gracious that it all kinds of awesome!

Fall To-Do List

Hockey is over and it won’t be back for a while. Baseball is over and it won’t be back for a while. Movies are over and they won’t be back for a while.

What’s to look forward to?

The Mandalorian comes out tomorrow. Season two. That’s something to look forward to. I have spoken. This is the way.

Star Trek Discovery is back. We’re a couple of episodes into season three but I haven’t watched yet.

The first Marvel series on Disney+ is coming out in December.

I have a new guitar pedal coming. It shipped this morning. National Solo Album Month kicks off on Sunday. Coincidence? I don’t think so.

Christmas? Thanksgiving? Covid-19 vaccines? That’s all up in the air still.

Election day? I’ve already voted, but I am cautiously optimistic that the fascists will be eradicated.

Lower Decks

Okay, so I was pretty convinced I wasn’t going to watch Star Trek Lower Decks because… frankly a goofy cartoon was not something I had any interest in.

This morning I had half an hour to kill before I had to start work. Usually that means an episode of Rick and Morty, but for some reason I couldn’t get HBO Now to run anything. What the hell, I’ll give Lower Decks one look and then that will be it.

Well…. It wasn’t bad. It was actually kinda cute in a goofy way. I don’t think I’m going to be able to stay interested for long, but when the next episode comes out I’ll give it a watch.

I mean, I need to find something to replace Marvel’s Agents of Shield, which is ending tonight. It is tonight, right? Two episodes in one night and everything wraps up?

I’m actually a little sad. I don’t want Agents of Shield to go away. Maybe next January we can get Vice President Kamala Harris to talk ABC and Marvel into bringing it back. There’s two things to hope for!

The Stir Crazy Files – Episode 7

It’s been a week and a half, can I get used to this already?  Come on, this is stupid.

My normal-life telecommuting day is Thursday.  New episodes of Star Trek Picard come out on Thursdays.

A few minutes ago I was shaving… why?  I don’t know.  As I was shaving I thought to my idiot self, I’m working from home today so there is a new Star Trek Picard to watch before work.  Sweet!

Wrong.

It’s Wednesday.  It’s my eighth consecutive telecommuting day.  Why the hell can’t I stop thinking every single effing day is Thursday?  Brain, would you get on this please?  I’m tired of being disappointed over no new Picard every single solitary day!  Enough already!

And what the hell am I gonna do when Picard is over?  I should have three more weeks of The Walking Dead followed by the premier of the new spin off.  Wrong.  It’s two more weeks and then nothing.  The season finale of The Walking Dead isn’t finished and it won’t be until after this all clears up.  It has been delayed indefinitely.  The new series is also still in post production so they are pushing that off indefinitely too.  Same with (at least some) of the CW DC Comics shows.  The final episodes are being delayed until it’s all over.  Bloody hell!

That’s all right though, our schmuck of a president say’s all of the restrictions will be lifted by Easter.  He said it would be so great to see all of the churches full.  When I heard that I realized what his goal was.  He doesn’t want to be remembered as a nazi.  He wants to be remembered as a great nazi.  Therefore he is going to arrange for the death of millions of Americans.  He’s going to go down in history as the first great mass murderer of the 21st century.  Why should hitler have all the fun, right?

Our president is evil.  He’s going out of his way to demonstrate it each and every day.

Okay, so this goofy post about feeling stir crazy got a little heavy right there.  It’s okay.  It needed to be said.
