Duplex

Have I mentioned that 14 years ago today Jennifer and I officially moved in together?

We moved into one side of a duplex, making today our duplexiversary.

At the time it was the best move I’d ever made. I topped it a month later when I proposed, and again a year after that when we got married.

14 years ago it was a good day and we are still going strong.

Shh, Don’t Tell Jen

My beloved wife and I celebrated our 15th first dateaversary tonight by having dinner and a movie together in the living room. We watched Iron Man because it was the next movie on The Great 2022 Marvel Chronological Rewatch of 2022, and because she said yesterday that she wanted to watch it.

We didn’t get all the way through. We stopped with about 45 minutes to go because I needed to go into the cellar and break the dryer. Like the klutz that I am.

After I was done with the destruction I finished my exercise ring for the day and she drifted away to sleep like the beautiful sleeping angel that she is. I wasn’t tired yet so I finished the movie. Don’t tell her! We started it on Disney+ but I finished it on the copy in our iTunes library. That means if she wants to watch the rest tomorrow we can pick up right where we left off on the Mouse App. She’ll never know! >Maniacal laugh<

Anyway, here is The Great 2022 Marvel Cinematic Universe Chronological Rewatch of 2022 Update:

  • Captain America: The First Avenger
  • Captain Marvel
  • Iron Man
  • The Incredible Hulk
  • Iron Man 2
  • Thor
  • Marvel’s The Avengers
  • Iron Man 3
  • Thor: The Dark World
  • Captain America: The Winter Soldier
  • Guardians of the Galaxy
  • Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
  • Avengers: Age of Ultron
  • Ant-Man
  • Captain America: Civil War
  • Black Widow
  • Spider-Man: Homecoming
  • Black Panther
  • Doctor Strange
  • Thor: Ragnarok
  • Ant-Man and the Wasp
  • Avengers: Infinity War
  • Avengers: Endgame
  • Spider-Man: Far From Home
  • Eternals
  • Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings
  • Spider-Man: No Way Home

Up next is the second Hulk movie. It was a pretty serious flop, but I enjoyed it. I always loved The Hulk, probably because I am a huge awkward person who often (unintentionally) smashes things (see the prior mention of the dryer fiasco from earlier tonight). It’s not on Disney+, but I checked yesterday and saw that it is on HBO Max. I should double check that. Or I should go to sleep.

Yeah, sleep.

A Nice Early Start

Jen had to get up early for a work thing today. It started at 5:00am. She set the alarm for 4:00am. I told her I would get up with her, in an attempt to be a good supportive husband. I don’t think she quite believed me. The alarm went off at 4:00, she snoozed it, then reset it to 4:30.

Next thing I know it’s 4:50 and she’s up and getting dressed and ready to start the day. Hell, I better get up too! She told me to go back to bed. I said I was going to be a good supportive husband and get up with her. I didn’t actually say that. I think what I said might have sounded more like, “grmblegrrglearrggh” but I think the meaning of my grunts came across.

Now it’s quarter to 7:00am, her work thing is done, she’s working on a computer she recently put together, I am about to start mixing a new tune.

Maybe at some point today I’ll be able to talk her into taking a nap. Heh heh heh. Kidding!

Birthday!

Happy birthday to you,

Happy birthday to you,

Happy birthday dear Jen-the-love-of-my-life,

Happy birthday to you!

It’s my beautiful, brilliant, amazing wife’s birthday! Wish her a happy birthday!

I love you, sweetie!

No Electrical Fun Today

Jen was going to rewire the light switch in the dining room today because she’s absolutely amazing. She was doing a little research last night and found that our switch contains some stuff that we weren’t prepared to deal with, so we gave it a miss and are looking to have an electrician come in. That means one of the two main projects on the agenda for today didn’t happen. The other main project is my super hero wife making spaghetti sauce from scratch. It’s on the stove right now and it smells so good.

You would think that I would have used this extra time to record guitars. Nope. Not yet. Maybe after dinner. That seems like a decent plan. If not, tomorrow. Instead of guitars I worked on drums. Not literally, more like I worked on GarageBand functions that simulate drums.

GarageBand has a tool called Session Drummers. There are a bunch of different “drummers” to choose from, all with different styles and different quirks. I tend to bounce back and forth between two. One that is pretty straight ahead rock and another that is more R&B. For the last two (I think) Quarantine projects I only used the rock drummer. I was planning on sticking with the R&B drummer for RPM but, with eight songs underway, I changed my mind. I went through a bunch of the options available today and picked a different Rock thing. I then changed the drummer on all eight songs.

Will the listener be able to tell the difference? Nope. Not likely.

Does it matter to anyone on the planet Earth other than me? Nope. Not at all.

Damn if that sauce doesn’t smell gooooood.

One Day Down, or Something

It’s almost 10:30. It’s just about time to turn in for the night.

It looks like I have made it through a whole day without caffeine. I didn’t think it was possible but there you go.

The headache is still there but Tylenol helped. I’ve had a ton of water today and I burned through a lot of grape flavored mix stuff. I need to slow down on that, but probably not for a couple of days. I need all the help I can get. How long before a lifestyle change becomes a habit? Three days? 30 years?

Tomorrow Jen is going to rewire one of the light switches because she’s a fucking super hero. I’ll help, but she has more guts than I do. Also… guitar. That’s my hope at least. It should be fun.

Almost There

The work day is more than half way done. Just a few hours to go until the weekend. Solving the equation and making use of Einstein’s Theory of Relativity shows us that a five day week that follows a four day weekend that followed a three day week is going to feel like a 20 day week. Do the math. It totally checks out.

After this impossibly long work week, the weekend shines like a beacon in a dark and stormy night. There are a lot of things I want to do this weekend. Christmas lights, a little cleaning at my parents house, cleaning up the post-decorating mess we left in the living room, and music music and more music.

There may be an alternate plan though. One inspired by the love of my life. This morning, I got out of bed a few minutes before she did. When I got up, the cat immediately took my place. Actually, she was on the bed before I got up, sort of willing me to piss off and leave so she could be alone with Jen. As I was starting to make the long journey to the bathroom Jen told the cat that she was just going to spend the entire day in bed. She wasn’t going to get up at all.

Now THAT is a plan!

I could not live that particular dream today, but tomorrow? And Sunday?

Bring it on!

Thanks, Jen! I love you!!!
