Volume Five?

I was just going through all of my ancient GarageBand files looking for the original masters of songs I have planned for volume four of the great re-recording project. As I was opening poorly labeled files I may have accidentally started making a list for volume five of the great re-recording project. Woops. There are only three songs, and volume four has 11… so maybe now volume four will have 14?

I am such a nerd.

Bad Guitar

Remember the scene in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade when the Knight says, “he chose poorly”?

If that Knight heard me play the guitar tonight he would have said, “he played poorly”.

Because I did.

Seriously poorly. Bad, bad, and more bad.

December Music

The month is half over and I’ve still barely scratched the surface of this month’s music. I did add a song idea tonight, and fixed some midi stuff on a couple of other songs.

It wasn’t much, but it was better than nothing. Guitars tomorrow? Maybe?

Volume Three, All Done

Quarantine Tunes Volume 3 is officially done, I think. I put together a running order but I haven’t played through it yet. I think it’s good, but it might change a smidge. For now, let’s call it a day.

Here’s the alonetone link that will actually work.

Now I can get back to the December album in a month. I have seven songs in the works and so far only four have guitars. That’s it. I need to get cracking.

I’m also thinking of one more round of re-recordings. I’ve got 11 songs on the list right now, but I’m pretty sure I’ll drop one of them.

Oh yeah, and the 2021 RPM Challenge is less than two months away. That’s just crazy.

Check it Out, Another Song

Quarantine Tunes Volume 3 is done apart from deciding on the final running order. Woohoo!

As for this song, I have zero clue what the lyrics were supposed to be about, but the first line of the second verse is “endlessly stall” but when I listen to it my brain hears “and Lesley Stahl” so maybe subconsciously it was about 60 Minutes?

Played a Little

I got some playing in tonight. I didn’t play well, but it wasn’t like gross or anything. I swapped out the clone of the racist overdrive pedal with the awful comic sans font for the Keeley Blues Driver clone that I can’t seem to connect with. Paired with the Klon KTR it sounded really good. Of course anything paired with the Klon sounds really good.

December Music: Promise Kept

When I wrote about the lack of progress on December Music earlier today I had two little bass riffs recorded and that was it. I promised myself I’d have more before I slept tonight.

Promise kept. I’ve got four songs worth of bass and drum parts down and ready for guitar. I feel a tiny bit better.

The plan for guitars this month was going to be Les Paul into Ryra into both 15 watt amps. I think instead I’m just going to swap out the higher gain pedal on my band board for different alternatives and see if anything catches my ear. I’m kinda not happy with how things sound right now and feel like mixing things up.

Speaking of mixing things up, when COVID is over and shopping is safe again, what about trying to trade my Strat and my Bassbreaker 18/30 for a Les Paul Junior and a 68 Deluxe Reverb? I’d have to chip in some cash too, but it could happen (probably not though).

No December Music Yet

We are into the second week of December and I have done almost nothing for the December Music. I did some work on the re-recordings in the last week, but nothing new. I need to buckle down and get my shit together and get some stuff done.

I just don’t know what to do yet. Nothing is coming to me. This month is going to sound more lame and forced than usual, which is saying something as it all sounds lame and forced.

Tonight, before I sleep, I will at least come up with a riff. I promise.
