Two Fast, Too Furious

The title of the post is just a pun. No one is furious. Unless you count being furious at the dictator cheeto for being recorded saying that Covid was a killer all the way back in February. That’s not what you get furious about. What you get furious about is that 50% of the idiots who vote still think he’s doing a great job, the fucking dogs.

Anyway.

51 minutes ago I finished my second intermittent fast. Two days in a row of no eating between 9:00pm and 1:00pm the next day. Something tells me that I’m going to get sick of this really quick, but for today… Two fast, too furious. Or something like that.

I’ve started having a little problem with my Apple Watch. Yesterday it froze on me. It went to sleep and wouldn’t wake up. I rebooted and everything was fine… or so I thought. About an hour later I saw a no-connection error icon. What? I checked my iPhone and sure enough the phone and the watch were not connected via bluetooth. I re-connected them and it was fine for a while but eventually it disconnected again.

I went to Wise Master Google and it told me to just toggle the bluetooth function on my iphone. That seems to have worked so far, at least for a couple of hours, but I have been having a little bit of an issue connecting to Siri. Its only working when my phone and I are in the same room. Weird.

My step son just wrapped up his second day of school. He did it all from his room. He’s in the living room doing music theory homework on the electric piano right now. As of today the full remote schooling is still just for this week. For now though, it’s such a relief to know he’s not going into the coronaviral plague pit otherwise known as the high school. I really don’t want him to go back, at least not without a vaccine, and not a rushed-poison-election-year-gimmick vaccine. I’m so tired of this.

So how are you all doing?

My Turn

Last week my step daughter had a bad cold. One guy at work was out sick on Wednesday and another was out sick on Thursday. Over the weekend my beloved wife Jennifer had a cold so bad she barely managed to get out of bed.

Last night when I got home from work I thought to myself, “gee wiz, self, your throat feels a little weird.”

It’s my turn. The plague is taking over.

Better… Sort of… Almost

I almost feel a little better today. Sort of. I’m still really congested but it’s not as bad as it was. I can almost (not quite) breath through my nose today. The coughing and sneezing are not entirely gone, but they have been reduced. I have a little more energy today, although not much. I’m still feeling run down. So I’m almost feeling a little better. Kind of.

Want to hear a little crazy talk? It’s been 10 days since I’ve had a sip of coca~cola. Coca~cola is my nemesis. I love it so. Oh, how I love that caramel colored, carbonated, caffeinated goodness. Sweet nectar of life, I love it so. But it is probably the cause of my skyrocketing out of control weight. Every once in a while I try to cut it out of my diet. 10 days is a good start. I have also managed to completely avoid caffeine during that time too. I have not eliminated soda. I’ve been getting a Canada Dry Ginger Ale at lunch on the days I am in the office. There’s one sitting next to me right now. Other than that it has been water, water with flavoring, gatorade, or other fruit type juices. I did not weigh myself before jumping on the wagon, so I don’t know if I’ve lost any weight. I do know that I’ve managed to sleep better in the last couple of nights. I’ll take that as a plus. I have also been trying to avoid the cafeteria at lunch time. I’ve brown bagged it each day that I’ve been in the office, and avoided going out of pigging out like a madman when working at home. The gym has been tougher. I’ve only gone twice in the 10 days. Being sick got in the way a couple of times, but it’s still not a regular thing yet. I might try again tomorrow.

On a totally unrelated note, Flickr is shutting down for maintenance tonight from 4:00-10:00pm Pacific time. That means no uploading anything tonight. Not that I have anything to upload. I will now post one picture as an experiment to see if the site going down includes losing access to everything. You’re fascinated, I can tell.

How about a picture of a Union Jack, taken at Colonial Williamsburg? You know, in honor of the royal baby and all. Yeah, that.

What else is there. Oh, hockey. The NHL finally announced next season’s schedule. No word yet on how they plan to force the cancellation of half of it, the way they did last year. The league has been realigned. The Bruins are now in the Atlantic Division. No teams from the old Atlantic are in the new Atlantic. Most of those teams are in the… wait for it… Metropolitan Division.

Oh please, that’s the best you could do? Why not the Teams Sort of Closest to New York Division? Why not the Middle East Division. Cause… these are teams that are in the East, but south of New England and North of Florida, so they are kind of in the Middle of the East, therefore Middle East. Get it? Even that is better than Metropolitan Division.

Well, lunch break is ending. Time to pop some DayQuil and try and figure out some bugs. Happy Wednesday.

Is There Anything More Pathetic?

I ask you this…

Is there anything more pathetic than calling in sick on a day you are supposed to telecommute?

No really, is there? Because I just did it. Today is a telecommute day and I just called in sick.

What a waste of both a sick day and a telecommute day. Urgh.

Nothing Going On

There is nothing going on at all.  Work during the day, spend the evenings with my love, go to sleep, wake up and do it all again.  I’m coughing a little more than normal over the last couple of days, but this time I can feel something getting loosened up.  Hopefully I’m a few coughs away from having a clear throat and a clear head and not being sick at all.  I would guess I’m about 85% healthy.  Last time I said that I relapsed, so I might just be a moron.  Who knows.

Over the weekend we finished watching The Lord of the Rings with the kids.  They were really into it, mostly.  Sheelob the spider weirded them both out, but that’s sort of her job.  I have been listening to the audiobook of the Lord of the Rings during my commutes.  Frodo and Sam are in Mordor >insert creepy music here<.

So on that note I will leave you with the one (wedding) ring!

The photojojo macro lens is kinda cool, but I haven’t really gotten anything terribly clear with it yet. I’ll keep trying.

Sleepy

Is it true that your immune system does most of its heavy lifting while you are asleep?  Might that be why I have been so completely exhausted over the last couple of days?

I felt sleepy all day Saturday but for the most part I was okay.  Round about 10:00pm I was toast though.  I couldn’t keep my eyes open.  Last night I hit the wall at bout 7:30.  The four of us were all in the living room just hanging out together and I think I might have dozed off a couple of times.  That usually doesn’t happen.  I went to bed at 10:00 or so and was sound asleep by 10:30.  I woke up once in the night, briefly, at about 1:30 and then I was out again until the alarm went off at 5:00.  I know I hit the snooze a couple of times, but I don’t recall doing it five times.  However, I was up and out of bed at 5:50 after the fifth snooze.  I felt great.  I was wide awake and alert and loving it.

At 7:00 I was in the car with the kids, taking them to their Dad’s house before school.  At 7:20 I stopped at a gas station convenience store and picked up (ironically) a caffeine laden coca~cola.  I then started my long drive to work.

By the time I parked my car I was exhausted again.  Seven hours of good sleep gave me about 2.5 hours of full alertness.  Now I’m tired and groggy again.

Hopefully this is my body telling me to go to sleep so it can continue to kick the crap out of the eternally lingering illness.  I’m still coughing.  I’m still having bouts of stuffiness.  I’m still having bouts of runny nose.  I even had a killer headache yesterday.  I am ready for this crap to end, NOW.

Jen is still in the same boat.  She has the same symptoms she’s had for the last couple of week.  No change.

I want this to be over, right now.  I have been saying that for weeks though.

Weekend To Do List

I’m three hours and 39 minutes away from the weekend. This has been a hard fought week. Being the first full week in a while, thanks to holidays and sick days, it has seemed nearly endless. The end is in sight though.

There are a few things I want to get done this weekend. Here’s my list.

First: Do everything humanly possible to make my beautiful wife Jen feel better. She’s had three doctors look at her in the last eight days and still she doesn’t feel any better. I want so bad for her to get over this. I want my sweetie to be all better.

Second: Stop coughing all the time.

Third: Get a haircut ya hippie!

Forth: Take down the Christmas decorations. It’s time.

Fifth: Get the damn tire fixed.  It was time six months ago.

Sixth: I found out why the cat runs away anytime she gets caught in the cellar.  There is a little rug we have in front of the couch.  We very rarely sit on that couch, so this has been slipping past us for a while… but there are at least three places on the rug where little miss kitty lost her lunch.  That rug has got to go away now, bye bye.

Seventh: Does the cat have a similar hiding place in one of the closets?  I need to empty it and find out.

Eighth: Relax and enjoy a full weekend with the kids.

Hopefully I’ll get at least a couple of these items done this weekend.  We shall see.
