Back on Track

We’ve been home for about five hours now. Here’s the summary of the drive there and back:

That’s a nice chunk of driving. 397.6 miles in seven hours and 25 minutes. Nice.

UMass Lowell beat the University of Vermont 3-0 in what was a pretty boring game. Lowell’s second goal was a thing of beauty. It was a two on one break away and the shooter roofed it over the goalie’s left shoulder. Perfect. Lowell’s third goal was a little painful for the Vermont fans. A one on two that should probably have been more like a dump and chase but Lowell’s forechecker just put it on net and poof, goal. Nice.

Before the game we met with the kids, including Harry’s girlfriend, for dinner and had a really nice time. Jen wasn’t feeling well by the end of it though so she stayed at the hotel during the game. That made us all sad. We missed her. After the game we all went back to the hotel and were able to spend some time hanging out with Jen, who was feeling a little better. That made up for missing the game.

Since coming home I’ve just been trying to recover from all of the driving. I did manage to run some errands and do a little around the house. I made lunch and I am going to make dinner too. First though, I have to do my morning exercise that I couldn’t do in the car today. I’s 4:20pm. Let’s make believe that it’s 5:20am and get it done.

Home

I’m home. It’s been a long week of commuting. It’s like it is 2019 all over again. Enough of that. I am so ready to work from home tomorrow and then get back to just twice a week starting Monday. It can’t get here fast enough.

For now though, here’s a cat who looks like I feel.

Morning

How’s your morning going? My morning commute was loooong but the traffic was manageable. It’s a half day for me. I just have to claw my way through a thousand and one priority things before I get there. Woohoo, he said, sarcastically.

Still… there’s this:

Sun

After a whole summer where almost every time I wanted to take the camera out during the morning golden hour the sky was an unbroken, unending ceiling of clouds, the three days I’ve had to go into the office this week have been greeted with blinding sunshine every morning. Not a cloud in the sky.

Figures.

New Camera Day

Pretty sure I just snapped my first picture using a medium format film camera. Also sure that I screwed up and wasted one shot before I did it. Also also sure that the one photo I took is going to be a blurry mess.

Happy New Camera Day!

Photo a Day Challenge: Options

It’s silly that I still do the whole photo a day challenge project thing. It’s almost always going to be a picture of a cat, or a guitar, or the view out of my home office window. It’s bad on the days I have to travel into the office because then it is likely going to be a picture of the parking lot, or my keyboard, or… nothing.

This week I may be in the office four days. That’s crazy in this post-covid world, but that’s how it’s working out. Often on in the office days I take a picture of something when I am in the cellar doing my morning exercise. Yesterday it was a guitar. Today it’s a candle. Let me show you…

Who knows what it is going to be tomorrow and the next day.

As it turns out, I actually ended up with options today. Surprise! I had to put gas in the car so that I could make the long (44 miles, about 90 minutes) commute. I could have used this picture for today’s photo a day instead of the candle…

Or, I could have used this one…

I mean… are those puppies art or what? I can almost smell how impressed you are (#sarcasm).

Sunday Music

I just ran out of rhythm guitar parts to record for this month’s music project. I guess I have to start writing lyrics now. Yuck.

I played through a speaker though! Kick ass! I used my Deluxe Reverb and actually made noises that you could hear. Thankfully my wife was upstairs on her computer with big headphones on so I hooked up my little attenuator thingie, gave the volume knob on the amp a nice twist up, and the attenuation knob on the little attenuator thingie a solid turn down. I got a little tube overdrive without blowing the roof off the house. Sweet.

Look at the amp, with the power light actually on!

Now look at the blurry background. F1.8, babie!

Now look at the self timer/selfie that the nerd boy took and laugh at him for being such a tool.
