New Look Bedroom

The bed is in the same place. Pretty much everything else is different.

The cushions on the new chairs will need a couple of days to finish expanding, but they’ve come a long way in about two hours since I sliced open the vacuum sealed package they shipped in.

One cat shows tentative approval. The other is hiding in terror, though she was all over the new chairs as I was putting them together. The rug was just too much for her tender little soul though.

The mirror is kinda my crowning achievement. The two paintings behind the bed were a nightmare to hang and will forever feel like the bane of my existence.

Crazy Busy Weekend

We did so much this weekend I can’t keep it all straight.

I hung a mirror, two paintings, and two coat racks in the bedroom, put together a big cabinet for the office and a storage rack for the bedroom. Rearranged most of the furniture in the bedroom and added a new cabinet. I took all of the stuff we bought from IKEA for the office that isn’t going to be used and loaded them into the car, though we aren’t sure when we’re going back to IKEA to return them.

What else, what else… I hung some pictures in the living room, replaced some old table lamps with new table lamps in the living room, pulled up two rugs and put down a new one down in the office. Rearranged some of the electronic devices in the office, or at least rearranged how it all plugs in.

I cooked lunch twice and dinner once, went to a whole bunch of stores for various reasons (not on Friday though), listened to the Bruins win one game and lose another, explained our issues to the HVAC guy who we called in tonight and after he started looking at things correctly guessed what the problem was (and the problem has since been corrected and all is well).

Oh yeah, and had the first band practice in forever where we all reiterated our desire to keep things going and hopefully start playing out again before the year ends. I also, for the first time, decided that the signal chain of Les Paul into Klon Klone into Rat clone into Vox AC15 wasn’t doing it for me, though the Les Paul into the Big Muff clone into the Klon Klone into the AC15 was absolutely doing it for me in the most ferociously fuzzed out blissful way possible. Next time I’ll have to bring a different overdrive pedal with me and replace the Rat clone.

Now the weekend is coming to an end. I still need to have my afternoon vitamins because I fell behind in all of my dietary goals today. The vitamins is the only thing still outstanding though. I will be cleared to have a drink in about half an hour. I’ll have them then and be all set with all of my goals for today. After that I’ll try to sleep for a while and then go back to work tomorrow.

That was a busy weekend. A crazy, busy weekend if you will.

Chair

Ever since we had the garage remodeled into a bedroom suite I have been wanting to get a comfy chair in there to give us a little reading nook. As of today it has finally happened.

I put my f4, 55-200 lens back on the D90. It already had the polarizing filter on it, but I put the warming filter on it too. Two filters at once? Crazy. (the warming filter will likely be removed shortly)

Flickr has been acting up since I uploaded these at lunch time. Hopefully the worst is behind us and these will embed into the post. Fingers crossed.

Feels Like Friday

It feels like Friday.

It’s not Friday.

It’s Thursday.

But it still feels like Friday.

I spent the time I thought I would be waiting for the furnace installation to start to move my desk back to our bedroom and give Harry his room back. My chair is still there. So is the little clock I bought. I need to find a new home for that puppy.

I didn’t do it because there is a heater in our bedroom. I did it because I had a handful of meetings over the next couple of days that I need to be contributing too. The bedroom happens to be about as far away from the furnace as you can get and still be in the house. I did not do it for the heat. I did it for the quiet. Also, because spending my days in my kids’ room felt wrong. When the Covid scare required me to quarantine myself it was one thing. That was almost two months ago. It was time to go back to my own room.

Who would have thought that I would have so much influence? Last night I logged into facebook for the first time in a month, just long enough to tell people I was taking a break. After about five minutes I was gone again. I will re-evaluate on November 27, 2021 but it’s looking like I might want to make this final.

Then, thanks mostly to my crusade, Zuckerberg changed the name? Jen just told me that Zuckie is changing the name from facebook to Meta. Ugh. You’re so meta, markie. I told her that he should have renamed the company Metal. That would have been so much cooler. So much… cleaner.

I guess Zuck just couldn’t deal with my exit. Sorry, hoodie man. Start treating nazis like bad guys and maybe I’ll come back. Get on that, bro. Cleaning out the nazi filth would be so meta, bro. It would be pretty metal too.

Huge Accomplishment

When the day began yesterday morning the kids’ bedrooms were the two messiest places in the known universe. It was pretty awful. The word came down from on high (aka, Mom) that the rooms would be cleaned on Saturday. It turned out that the task was even bigger than we’d realized and the job wasn’t finished until today.

Now that the job is complete though… There are no bedrooms in this or any other universe that belong to humans of either 10 or 12 years old that are in better shape than my step kids’ rooms. The word immaculate comes to mind. Perfect is accurate. They did such a fantastic job you can’t even believe it. It’s like, woah! Those are two clean rooms!
