Vision Pro

When the iPhone was announced I thought it was meh.

Then the iPad, same thing.

Then the Apple Watch, again the same thing. Meh.

Then within minutes of trying all three they became indispensable. Literally can’t deal with not having them.

Now we have Vision Pro…

I suddenly NEED me some AR.

I NEED IT!

Introducing Apple Vision Pro: Apple’s first spatial computer.

ADDENDUM: And then Robert saw the $3,499 price tag and suddenly he wasn’t as into it as he was before.

Genesis on The Midnight Special

I read a story about this earlier this morning. The old 70’s TV show The Midnight Special has a YouTube channel and they released a video of Genesis playing The Musical Box in 1973. The article mentioned that the show originally included them playing Watcher of the Skies as well but that hadn’t been released on the YouTubes. I went looking for The Musical Box at lunch today and Watcher of the Skies actually came out this morning as well.

Enjoy watching Peter Gabriel play dress up!

Figures that the camera panned up off of Steve Hackett’s hands just before he played one of Earth’s first examples of two hand tapping. Oh well.

Smoke

We made blackened fish in a cast iron skillet last night. It was excellent.

Cleaning the skillet requires rubbing it down with vegetable oil and then burning it off. That didn’t go quite as excellent. Especially when I had all of the windows open at 10:30pm when it was 48 degrees out, and that was before the smoke alarms went off.

Insult to injury, 15 minutes after the smoke cleared and the alarms were silent, one of the smoke alarms started giving that dying battery chirp. Perfect timing, ass munch.

At least the skillet is clean and ready for the next meal.

The Other Les Paul

We were just in my step son’s room, looking in his closet for an ethernet cable.

I happened to notice that his guitar was there. He doesn’t play anymore (he’s piano and percussion only now), but years ago we bought him a student package Epiphone Les Paul.

I have half a mind to pull it out and use it for some recording this month, just for fun. It’s the other Les Paul in the house. I should give it some love, right? Sure, it’s not a full fledge Gibson, but it’s still sort of a Gibson because Gibson owns Epiphone. Yeah, I should show it some love. I’ll ask Harry first, of course.

13th Month Weigh In

I’m sure my army of loyal readers (reader) has been missing my weekly weigh in posts and pining away for the next monthly weigh in. Well, it’s June 4th. Surgery was 13 months ago today. What’s the news?

The news is that I am up, but only a tiny bit. I think it’s safe to say that I am holding steady. On May the 4th I was at 204.8 pounds. This morning I was 205.4. A gain of 0.6 pounds. Let’s round it off at half a pound for colloquialism’s sake (wait, is that even a thing?).

The total weight lost since the surgery is 226 pounds and the total since the first weigh in is 246.6 pounds. My BMI is holding at 25, which technically means I am overweight, but it’s close enough to normal weight for me.

Over the last month I never updated my spreadsheet or the health app on my iPhone, but I did step on the scale a few times. Today’s weigh in is the lowest of the few, but only by a fraction of a pound. I never topped 207. I think I can say that I am holding my ground at this point. I have definitely been eating more, especially at lunch time and after dinner. I’ve cut back on protein supplements a little bit but I’d like to cut back more if I can. I want to eat real food more often.

Okay then, the weigh in is complete. We’ll talk again on July 4th and celebrate US Independence with a monthly weigh in. Until then, stay tuned for more cat pictures. Good day.
