My State’s Vote

The Electoral College Vote continues. CNN hasn’t updated the tally in an hour. Are they on a dinner break or something? Can’t we just keep going, please? I want this to end, now.

Anyway, this is a CNN report (more of a blurb, really) mentioning how my state is not a fascist state. We still believe in Democracy here.

Massachusetts casts its 11 electoral votes for Biden

From CNN’s Abigail Sharpe and Adam Levy

Massachusetts’ electors cast their 11 votes for President-elect Joe Biden during their meeting on Monday in Boston.

Biden won about 66% of the vote in the Bay State to President Trump’s 32%.

While five of Massachusetts’s last six governors have been Republicans, including current Gov. Charlie Baker, the commonwealth hasn’t voted for a Republican for president since 1984.

Presidential elector Linda Monteiro of Boston addressed the gathering on Monday afternoon, marking the importance of this moment as a lifelong Democrat and a daughter of immigrants. She called the Trump administration “ego-centric, divisive and mean-spirited” and stated that she believes the Biden administration will unite the country.

Electoral Stress

The Electoral College is voting today. I’m trying to follow along with the proceedings online. It should not be stressful as we know how each state is going to vote. At least we think we do. Given the nightmare of fascism that has engulfed much of our country, we can’t assume anything.

CNN has the current count at 161 votes for Biden and 158 for Trump. That’s as of about 2:30 PM Eastern time.

I feel like I’m getting an aerobic workout just siting here, waiting for the page to update. Come on Electoral College delegates. Do your jobs. 306 votes for President Elect Joe Biden, please.

Busy Evening

First, the Supreme Court unanimously rejected the seditious attempt by the fascists to overthrow the presidential election.

Then the FDA approved the Pfizer vaccine. Sure, Cheeto tried to take credit for the brilliant work of a German company that developed the vaccine without taking operation warp speed money, but hey… every word out of his mouth since at least 2015 has been an instantly verifiable lie so I guess you take what you can get.

Overall, today has not been a good day, but those two things have brightened it up a smidge.

Five Days from Today

After reading about the Supreme Court verbally bitch slapping the fascists trying to overturn the Presidential election yesterday it brought on a fresh bout of freaking out about the end of the US as we know it.

December 14th. That’s the next milestone. Five days from today the electoral college votes. That’s the next hurdle to the coup that the nazi cheeto is working on. He’ll still have plenty of time and opportunity to finish destroying American democracy, but it will be that much harder for him to pull it off.

I am not going to relax or stop worrying about the future until that orange flavored prick is out of my White House for good and President Elect Joe Biden is sworn in as our 46th President. That’s January 20th. There is still over a month to go before then.

Join me as I hold my breath in fear.

Yippee.

11 days

The electoral college votes on December 14th. We have 11 days of this bullshit to go. Then we have to wait a couple of weeks for the electoral college votes to be counted by congress. Then we have a few weeks until the inauguration.

Then you’d think the trump disaster would end. You’d think. The reality is that it’s never, ever going to get better. Our country is over. We can’t come back from this. It was fun while it lasted, but it’s over.

How Was Your Thanksgiving

How was everyone’s Thanksgiving? Was it socially distanced? Did you stay safe or did you ignore the pandemic and spread the disease far and wide? We stayed safe. If you didn’t, fuck you.

We moved some furniture around to prep for Christmas decorations. One of the things that got moved was the Apple HomePod. Ever since they announced the HomePod mini, I’ve been kinda jonzing for one but Jen wanted to upgrade our Sonos system. Either way is fine with me, but I just like being an Apple fanboy.

Well, after moving the HomePod last night Jen has seemed to be a little inspired. She did a lot of cool stuff with the Home app, including setting it up for our Hue lights, and the new intercom function. I had taken the HomePod Mini off of my Christmas list, but now… woah. Are we getting on the HomePod bandwagon for more than just listening to music?

Have you watched the episode of The Mandalorian that came out today? I didn’t think they could top last week’s episode, but holy crap did they ever!

I was going to do some car singing this morning but given the choice between that and sleeping a whole lot, I chose sleeping. We just got some new flannel sheets and oh the comfy.

That’s the kind of news you get when you read this bloggie… you learn about the new flannel sheets on our bed. Kick ass, dude!

Now, go and watch The Mandalorian while I do a little walking in place exercise and watch the new episode of That Pedal Show and think about all the cool reverb effects that I can’t do without spending hundreds of dollars. Also… is a Wampler Plexi Drive Mini a good alternative to the racism that an OCD pedal represents? Questions, babie. All the questions.

Happy Day After Thanksgiving/First Day of Christmas.

Eventful Day

We’ve done some noteworthy stuff today. Jen cut my hair again. It was longer in the back than on top. Now it’s short everywhere.

Jen got a new phone. We spent 900 hours on the phone with Verizon trying to set it up. It’s all set now.

I hung more Christmas lights outside of the house. This goes against every holiday instinct for me. You don’t put up Christmas stuff before Thanksgiving, you just don’t. Still… Covid, right? There are lights all over the house.

I also, and this is venturing into TMI territory, installed a new toilet seat. Can you dig it? I mean… shit, man (pun intended).

Why am I sharing all of this? I don’t know. I guess it’s just to stop myself from publicly making fun of the so called million maga march today. They made this big deal about how they were going to gather in huge numbers to protest the so called stealing of the election (which is hilarious). What actually happened was a crowd of a few hundred people shouting dumb slogans.

Oh the poor, poor trump cult. How sad they must be that reality keeps kicking them in the proverbial nuts.

Distraction

Between watching The Flash and playing guitar and writing a few songs worth of lyrics and watching 30 Rock with Jen and Harry I have successfully managed to avoid stressing out of the coup trump is attempting. Mostly.

So Georgia is going to do a hand recount. What is cheeto going to do when the results come back for Biden again? Is he going to want a second recount?

Oh so there I go paying attention again.

Fucking nazis.

Two Days Off

Tomorrow is Veterans Day and I have it off. Thursday is Rob-Needed-To-Burn-A-Vacation-Day day so I have that off too. How should I spend my two days off?

Raking? There is rain in the forecast. Not sure.

Music? I’ve got a lot of songs ready for guitars and I need to start writing lyrics… yuck.

Doom scrolling twitter to keep up to date on the on going coup?

Yeah, that’s probably the one.

Coup D’état

Coup d’état. I said that the 2016 election looked a lot like a coup d’état thanks to the russian interference. I never said the election was illegitimate, because right or wrong, the American people cast their votes.

Now we’re seeing an actual coup d’état. An attempt, at least. The justice department and a bunch of senators have joined the cheeto in his idiotic votes-for-the-other-guy-don’t-count crusade.

The motivation for this is clear. He’s raising money for the defense of the election, whatever the hell that means, and he’s embezzling that money to pay off his campaign debts. This is nothing but a scam to make a buck… and countless people are falling for it hook, line, and sinker.

America, home of the stupid. It never ends.
