…And Again

I’m getting tired of posting this. The Bruins are down 2-0 after one period.

In each of the last two games I had to formally request (via blog post) that they step it up and take care of business.

Come on, Bruins. Get it together. Again.

In unrelated news, the Red Sox are up 6-0 in the second inning. Should they lose tonight there record will calm to 10-20. That would be suckitude of epic proportions. I’d be okay with it though if I got a Bruins win in return.

Go Bruins… and Red Sox.

Quiet

No Bruins game tonight.

No Red Sox game tonight.

No Marvel movies left to watch.

I guess I’ll just stare at the walls, drinking this protein shake and stressing about my mother whose been in the hospital all day. What the hell are we going to do?

The Bruins are Losing

The Bruins and the Whalers are playing game four at this very moment. We are losing 2-1 in the second period.

Remember the other day when I wrote a post telling the Bruins they needed to step it up and win game three?

This is me doing it again. Come on, Bruins, let’s pick it up.

Go Bruins!

ADDENDUM: The Bruins scored! It’s tied at two after two periods. Keep it up, Bruins!

ADDENDUM 2: The Bruins won 5-2 and tied the series at two games a piece. You’re welcome, Bruins fans.

Strange

The Bruins won. There will be no first round sweep elimination this year.

The Red Sox are losing. I think we are just going to have to get used to that.

I watched the first episode of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds and I really enjoyed it. It feels like a return to form. Fingers crossed that feeling holds up.

I’m having a bit of gas pain tonight, but that’s expected. I’m going to walk around for a few minutes and then go to bed. I slept in a recliner last night so this will be my first night in my own bed. Sort of. I took a nap in the bed this afternoon, but you know what I mean.

Sweet dream, gentle readers.

What’s Up With the Bruins?

I’ve been busy with other things the last few days and I haven’t really kept tabs on the Bruins

So what the hell? They lost games one and two. When I started writing this they were losing in game three too, but they just tied it.

The two losses were bad, but they were on the road. They need to win tonight. They need to.

Come on Bruins, let’s straighten this out.

Liquid Lunch

It’s almost 2:00pm and I am just getting to lunch now. When I say lunch, of course, I mean liquid lunch. I just had me a protein shake. Yummy. Will it still be yummy after tomorrow? Who the hell knows!

3.5 hours left in my work day and then I go on leave for a month. I am having a tough time wrapping my brain around that. A whole month away from work is just… weird.

It’s really loud in my yard right now. There’s a huge ass riding lawn mower tearing around like a madman. I forgot we booked a lawn service this year. It’s a good thing because we kinda don’t have a lawn mower of our own at the moment, and for the next month or so I am going to be no good to anyone.

The Bruins lost game one last night. Game two is tomorrow. I am guessing I won’t be terribly interested in watching. You know, other stuff going on.

Still no phone call telling me when to show up tomorrow. They said to expect the call between 3:00 and 8:00pm, so I am not worried… yet.

When am I going to be able to watch MoonKnight tomorrow? Do you think Disney+ will let me see it today? No? Even if I ask Mickey Mouse directly? No? Aww.

Musiciansfriend is going to deliver a new delay pedal tomorrow. I don’t expect to be able to play through it right away. You know how it is, right?

My wife Jennifer is my rock. I just wanted to share that. I couldn’t do any of this without her. She’s amazing and I am so in love with her.

What else… I don’t know. I am sure I had a reason to start typing this and I am equally sure that nothing I’ve written here has anything to do with whatever that reason was. I know that, even though I really don’t know what the reason I started this actually is. My 51st birthday is this weekend. I’d tell you all not to get old, but the alternative is really a lot worse so I won’t.

To do list for tonight:

  • Put gas in the car.
  • Clear a path in the cellar storage to the furnace. It’s getting a check up or something next week and I won’t be able to lift half of the stuff that’s in the way post-surgery.
  • Change the litter box.
  • Tell Jennifer how much I love her.
  • Text the kids and tell them how much I love them.
  • Call my parents.
  • Text my brother and sister.
  • Drink a protein shake for dinner.
  • Put away the laundry that I washed and dried yesterday.
  • Pack a bag.

My friends Larry and Mike have already gotten in touch. I got a text from Larry this morning wishing me luck. Last night I got a call from Mike. He’s been through this already and he gave me some advice for the recovery.

They told me not to wear any jewelry tomorrow. That means no wedding ring and no watch. I’m not sure what to do with my glasses. Maybe I’ll bring the case and ask Jen to hold on to them for me.

I’m not freaking out. Not really. I think I just want it to be over with so I can move on to the next stage. As scary as all of this is, it’s a good thing and I will have no regrets.

Okay, back to work for the home stretch.

FYI

For your Information:

Do you realize the NHL playoffs start in about an hour an a half? The post season kicks off with the Bruins and the Carolina Hartford Whalers Hurricanes*. Game one starts at 7:00**PM in whatever North Carolina city passes for Hartford these days.

All together now… Go Bruins!

*The NHL schedule says 7:00PM so, what… 7:35? 7:40? Whatever.

**No, I will not stop making smart*** ass Whaler cracks at the Hurricanes. I don’t care how much you beg me to stop, I will never stop.

***Smart?

Win and Winning

The Bruins beat the Panthers tonight. Woah! Sure FLA is the best team in the East by a mile and have nothing to really play for in the last days of the regular season, but still… cool! We beat the Panthers!

I checked the Red Sox score too, expecting some karmic balancing, but the Red Sox are leading the Blue Jays in the eighth. Wow! I probably jinxed them, of course, but cool!

Bed Time-ish

I’d like to be going to sleep right now but I want to let my watch charge to 100% before I do. It’s at 83% right now, but it did just take a WatchOS update so that’s cool.

An unrelated aside: did you know that on the show How I Met Your Mother, nearly every time Barney spews out some ridiculous made up statistic it’s 83%? Sometimes it’s 8.3, but usually 83. Sorry, my watch battery made me think of that, and Jen and I are binging the holy hell out of that show right now.

Sorry, what was I talking about?

The Bruins lossed again tonight. I’m afraid to read a recap and find which players will be out injured next. It seems like every game costs us another player or two.

The Red Sox won at least. We are 2-3 right now, but at least we have a better record than Baltimore. That’s pretty sweet.

I’m watching Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2. I’m not going to be able to finish it tonight. It’s quarter to 11:00 and I still have an hour to go. The question in the morning will be finish Guardians or watch the new episode of MoonKnight.

It’s going to be a tough call, man.

It’s quarter past ten on Monday night and I still feel like shit from yesterday’s Covid-19 booster shot. I think I might be running a slight fever. That’s to be expected though. Actually, I think I was running a fever but may have just broke. I am suddenly covered in cold sweat. That’s good, right?

So I watched two Marvel movies today. Jen looked at the list and said she’d watch Iron Man with me. That should happen tomorrow night. Wednesday will be MoonKight episode two, and Thursday will be Picard episode… five? Four? I forget. Friday will likely be That Pedal Show. That means the furious start to the Marvel rewatch is probably going to slow down soon.

That’s okay I only have 2496709743609273460 hours of Marvel movies to go, and we haven’t even thought about including the TV shows yet.

Also, just for the record, the Bruins beat Columbus tonight. Joe Haggerty had this to say:

Yes, it’s going to be a fun last few weeks.
