Practice, You

The RPM Challenge starts in 11 days and I haven’t touched my guitar in ages. I need to practice my ass off in the time remaining to get myself into playing shape. I swapped an overdrive pedal on my board today in the hopes it would trick me into playing tonight. It didn’t work.

I just read about another music guy who apparently passed away. I didn’t catch when. It wasn’t someone particularly famous, but he owned Boston’s best recoding studio, Fort Apache, and he produced some of my favorite records by some of my favorite bands, House Tornado by Throwing Muses and Surfer Rosa by The Pixies, and he managed some of my favorite bands, Belly and Juliana Hatfield. His name was Gary Smith and it sucks that he’s gone.

I Couldn’t Put it Off Any Longer

I fought against it for as long as I could, but I just couldn’t hold it off any longer.

I shoveled the driveway. Today wasn’t the first snow of the season, but it was the first snow that needed shoveling. I didn’t want to, but I just had to.

I am happy that the first shoveling didn’t happen until the later half of January, but I am sad that it still had to happen. Maybe we’ll get lucky and it won’t happen again until after our new windows are installed next month.

Cross those fingers, kids.

There was a chance I might have gotten a notification from Old School Photo Lab that my package of 92469276 rolls of film (actually, only eight) had been received. Nope. No email. Maybe today? Hopefully, but it’s snowing out there. I don’t know if it’s snowing up in Dover, NH but it’s close enough to home to assume. So maybe not today, but hopefully Monday.
