Clock

I bought the clock in this picture two years ago when I had a Covid-19 scare and was quarantined in my step son’s room while he was away at school. Those few days sucked out loud. I bought the little clock from amazon because there wasn’t a clock in Harry’s room that wasn’t on a computer screen. When my isolation period ended the clock moved to our bedroom and later when the cellar rebuild was finished it moved down stairs to my new office space.

I noticed it was ticking really loudly this morning. Three hours later I realized the second hand wasn’t moving anymore. The battery wasn’t dead, but the clock apparently was.

Rest in peace, cheap piece of crap amazon clock. You served me very well over two years of life. I thank you.

Will I replace it?

Naw, probably not.

Daily (goofy) Haiku for You #23

Hello and welcome to this Friday edition of the Daily* Haiku For You.

It was a short week
that felt more like a long week.
Some weeks are just weird.

*I will continue to call this the Daily Haiku For You until such time as I forget to do it once. Then it will just be the Haiku For You.

Friday Morning Music

I over slept a little today, and then took longer than usual to get my act together. That means I didn’t have a lot of time for music. I did get to spend about 45 minutes working on one song. Yesterday I started… I think… four new song ideas? One got guitars, one got a full song form, and then one song I started a few days ago (the only song I touched in the first six days of September) got a full song form. That last one was the one I put guitars on today.

Tonight I have to write lyrics. I need to do singing in the car both days this weekend. I need to have songs ready to mix by the time our Florida trip starts so that I can have something to do while we’re away and I can’t sleep at night because I am not in my own bed. You know how that goes, right? Although, I do expect to be physically wrecked after full days in the Disney World parks. You know how that goes, right?

Anyway, some photos.

Basically…

Daily writing prompt
If you had to give up one word that you use regularly, what would it be?

What percentage of posts written in English are going to talk about giving up the word “fuck”?

25%?
33%?
50%?

Whatever the count ends up being, I am guessing it’s going to be a lot.

While Fuck is definitely the word I should give up, I will not go with that one. No, I do so love that flexible, brilliant, jack-of-all-trades of a word. It is English language at it’s peak. Yes, a filthy little peak mind you, but a peak nonetheless.

No, if it is up to me I would give up a word that I feel makes me sound sort of dumb and a little pretentious at the same time. Basically it’s a word that I just basically over use… basically.

Basically, I would give up the word basically and I would sound a little less like a pompous dumb ass.

Fuck yes, that’s the word I’d remove from my vocabulary. Basically.

One More to Go

My epic binge watch of the new Doctor Who show ends tonight. One episode to go and then I’ll be caught up until new episodes air in November.

I still have 7355427846428 episodes of the original series left though.

Shake to Shuffle the Back Yard

I cooked my lunch on the grill in the back yard today. It’s cold inside the house and roasting hot outside. In between hamburger flips I took a few random pics with the Hipstamatic app on my iPhone. As I did so I posed the question to the universe: If I do start using Hipstamatic regularly again, will I be the only person on Earth doing so?

I posed the question to the 900,000 folks on BlueSky Social and no one responded. I went to Flickr and searched for images tagged “hipstmatic” and sorted the results by date taken. There seem to be a few people there still using it. I checked a couple of Hipstamatic groups as well and they are still getting updates with recently taken images. Based on that I would not say I will be the only user left on Earth. I will say that I am one of the only users left. That’s okay with me.

As usual, I used the shake to shuffle function to randomly assign film/lens combinations.

Hipstamatic: Shake to Shuffle
Hipstamatic: Shake to Shuffle
Hipstamatic: Shake to Shuffle
Hipstamatic: Shake to Shuffle
Hipstamatic: Shake to Shuffle

Someday I am going to buy a medium format film camera. Consider this as me practicing for using a square format option. You’re welcome.
