Sugar Free Halloween!

I’ve been plowing through season nine of the original Doctor Who today. Just… so much Who at one time. I am going to be hearing cheesy synth music in my dreams for years now. I had to take a break.

Given that we are Disney Bound shortly, I checked on our favorite Disney Youtube channel, TheTimTracker to see if there are any videos I have missed during my epic Who View. There is a recent video covering Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party. We have tickets for that on our Magic Kingdom day! Cool, I can get the low down.

I knew they had trick or treating at these events but given my gastric bypass’ inability to handle sugar I figured I was going to have to miss out. Then the video showed a guy who had a tree nut allergy and they gave him a different colored trick or treat bag so that the cast members new to only give him specific allergy friendly food.

I wonder…. thought I…

Off to The Google I go. I searched for Disney not so scary sugar free and this was the first hit:

Do they have Sugar Free treats at the MNSSHP? Thank you

Well honk my hooter, boys and girls, it looks like your friend and humble narrator may get to play along after all! Is it possible I am even more excited about our upcoming Disney trip now? Is it possible I am not 52 years old but I am actually still six years old? Is that possible? I think so!

Saturday Morning Music

Car music happened this morning. I drove to the movie theater parking lot and put vocals on four songs. Three of them were written beforehand, one was written on mic. I don’t do that very often anymore, but I had run out of tracks to sing and wasn’t quite ready to stop so I threw it together on the spot. Sweet.

The view from “the recording studio”

I was originally thinking of spending some time playing guitar today but I don’t think I will have quite enough time, what with our plans to go to Vermont to visit the kids this afternoon. Instead the goal is to write some more lyrics so I can have another successful car music tomorrow, and set up some song forms so that I can have a lot of songs ready for rhythm guitars tomorrow as well.

The goal is 50 songs by October 1st. 27 songs are done, 46 are in progress. It doesn’t look good, but it’s still doable. I’ll let you know how it goes.

Relax and Take a Load Off

Daily writing prompt
How do you relax?

Relax. Take a load off. Cool your jets.

But… how? How does one cool one’s jets?

Well, everyone is different. We all have our own ways to relax. I can tell you what I would do, but it might not work for you. Maybe you could give one of these simple things a try and see how you feel?

  • Spend some quiet, quality time with the family
  • Listen to some music
  • Play the guitar
  • Watch a good movie
  • Watch some TV
  • Go for a drive, with or without an actual destination in mind
  • Go to the ocean and just sit and listen to the waves
  • This one is something I hope will be a go-to in the future but it’s not quite there yet: Exercise
  • Pet a kitty
  • Pet two kitties

There are a few ideas of things you can try. I should add read a book, but ever since I had to start wearing bifocals (progressive lenses, actually) sitting down with a book has been less relaxing than it used to be. I should still do it more than I do, but I still have something like 390 episodes of the original Doctor Who series to get through. How can I spend time with a book (such as the new Stephen King novel, Holly which either just came out or is just about to come out) when there is still so much Who to go Through*?

*And you thought the goofy haiku were the only evidence of my mad poetry skills.

Thunderstorm

In the three years plus that we’ve been mostly working from home, we’ve been hit by a lot of nasty storms during business hours. We’ve never had a power outage though.

Until today. It only lasted for a minute, and the wifi booting back up actually took longer than the actual outage. Still, our perfect power streak has come to an end. Now we just need the storm to end.
