What is it about laundry that cats can’t resist?

Another Year
As my father likes to say, S.S.D.D. Same shit, different day.
Okay, that’s both overly negative and overly dramatic, but the idea works. I am right where I thought I would be a year ago, because I am more or less in the same place I was a year ago. Same job, same staff, same schedule, same musical situation, same photography situation. More important than any of that, same immediate family situation. I wish the kids were home more often, but other than that we’re in the same boat as last year. My mother is gone, so the extended family isn’t quite what I was hoping for. I guess I was hoping that this year would produce a miracle cure for dementia, but we had pretty much the exact opposite result. Xmas is going to be painful
So what does this mean, really? I am happy, I am healthy, I love my wife and my step kids and I am happy with my family life. I still enjoy my job, especially when I work from home. Socially speaking, I have not moved on from the pandemic yet, but that wasn’t really part of the plan for this year. Maybe that’s something we can put on the agenda for 2024. 2023 has been a good year. Other than losing my mother and my aunt and uncle, I wouldn’t have changed a thing.
Here’s to more of the same in 2024. Minus the absent family members, of course. I can’t handle any more of that.
Same View, Different Day
This is pretty much the same picture as yesterday’s photo a day pic. The difference is, yesterday I used my iPhone and today I used my Mirrorless with a nice, fast lens.
You probably don’t have to guess which one I prefer.

It’s been a weird one.
Elf Cat
Robin is riveted by Elf. Understandable, of course.

Camera Fail
I went out early this morning to run a bunch of errands. I took my camera with me, thinking I had a couple of spots on the route where I could take some pictures.
Before I left the house I took this picture of Robin Sparkles the cat with my iPhone…
Guess how many pictures I took with my Z5. Go on, guess.
Zero.
So the cat is once again my photo a day winner. Again.

Lessons and Skills
As uninspiring questions go: This is one.
I took some short trainings at work that covered topics like emotional intelligence and unconscious bias recently. This topics fascinate me, and I am hoping I can put what I have learned into practice as a supervisor at work.
I’m learning a little bit about Windows 11. Specifically, using multiple monitors. I knew how to do it already using older versions of Windows, but I have to come up with something for this post, right?
I am constantly learning about life post-gastric bypass. The most recent thing is, am I having actual episodes of low blood sugar? Is that even a thing? I’ll ask my doctor when I check in with her next week. I’m sure I’ll let you know what she says.
Also, I am constantly trying to learn more about playing guitar, using guitar gear, and photography. I can’t think of anything I’ve learned recently that has turned my thinking upside down or anything, but I’m always on the look out for new things.
There… a few uninspiring answers to an uninspiring question. Happy Saturday, oh my readers and only friends.
