Plans for Tomorrow

I was thinking of getting up with the sun and doing some photo’ing tomorrow but nope. Not going to do it.

Jen wants to redesign the living room so we are getting up early to tackle the task. After that’s done I’m going to visit mom for the first time in a week.

No clue what’s happening after that. Maybe some house cleaning, maybe dinner on the grill, maybe some freakin’ guitar.

I would like to play cameras one morning this weekend. It is a three day’r after all. Lots of opportunities. I haven’t checked the weather forecast though. I should probably do that.

Oh yeah! There’s Rings of Power too! Gotta watch that puppy!

Happy long weekend, folks!

ADDENDUM: Someone just suggested IKEA… oh, we might be in trouble. Heh heh

Shooting in the Morn?

Jen booked an appointment for early tomorrow morning so I’m going to be up with her. I guess that will give me a chance to go out and shoot me some pics.

I’m thinking of bringing the Nikon family over to the rail trail. I took dad’s Pentax there once but the film roll broke or jammed or some shit and the pics I took were ruined and chucked. I’ll try again while also maybe trying some digital black and white. That’ll be a fun way to kick off a photo-a-day thing, right?

It all depends on the whether. I think I have 15 or so shots left on the current roll of film. When it’s done I’ll have two rolls to develop. Then I want to buy a couple of rolls of the cheapest black and white film I can find. I want to use dad’s camera for the great black and white experiment. I think dad’s camera is just plain better than mine.

I’m still planning on turning our January Disney trip into the greatest film photography experience in human history, but I think I need to stock up on a few more rolls first. I’d like to try and get a couple of rolls of high ISO film to use at night, but that’s going to be on the expensive side so I need to save up a little first.

And that’s the film situation at this moment in time.

And now it’s bed time. Goodnight, Moon.

Another Try?

Thinking about going for some river pics in the morning. I have a ton of things to do before Harry wakes up tomorrow, including visiting my mother. If I get up early enough I might play at picture taking before Market Basket opens at 7:00 and the day starts rolling for really reals.

We’ll see.

Packed Up

Remember when driving in to the office wasn’t an ordeal?

I’m going in tomorrow. Tonight before bed I packed up my laptop, made lunch, filled up a water bottle, did the dishes, took the trash out to the street, put a new shower mat into the tub, and I think that’s it.

Now clearly most of those things aren’t necessary for me getting to my desk tomorrow, but they are all things that would happen on a normal post-Covid Tuesday that I won’t have time for tomorrow because I have to make the approximately 1.25 hour drive.

Will I get up early enough to do my exercise before I leave? That’s the question.

The Question

It’s quarter to 10pm. The question before me is this:

Do I hang out for an hour or so and then go outside in the dark and take a couple of long exposures of the sky to see how they’ll turn out, or do I go to bed.

Ask me again in an hour.

Change of Plans

We are not going into the city today. There has been a change of plans.

It’s okay, we’ll find something else to do for Harry today.

I went to see my mother today. It went okay. Actually better than most of my visits.

I have some work to do today and I am procrastinating like a crazy person. I sort of have after dinner earmarked for business stuff. We’ll see.

I have been doing an epically shitty job keeping track of my food and drink today. I create an entry when I start something and then forget to close off the entry when I finish. Everything is guesswork. Do better, Robert.

I’m sitting at my desk right now. I think I will go upstairs and be more social. Maybe I’ll have a few grapes too. Fruits, babie. Nature’s candy.

Let’s Start the Day

It’s Sunday, the last day of July. Let’s make this a good one, shall we?

Today is our last day with Bellana for the summer. She’s moving back to Vermont early in the morning tomorrow. She’s at her Dad’s right now but will be coming here around lunch time.

I just setup my food/drink spreadsheet for today. Now I am having a protein shake, half of one at least, and then I am heading off to visit Mom. On the way home I will swap out the empty propane tank from our gas grill for a full one and then when Bellana get here we’ll have a cookout. After that it will be Stranger Things season four episode seven, as discussed yesterday, and then we’ll just hang out with Bellana one more time. Harry has to work this evening so we’ll lose him at some point, which makes me sad, but he’ll be here for some of the night. That’s good. Harry doesn’t move back to Vermont until the end of August, so we still have time to spend with him.

Today is going to be a good day. I can tell.

Okay, heading off to visit Mom for a while. Wish me luck.

Tomorrow

What do I want to do tomorrow? Besides the 0.75% of a band practice. I don’t know.

Visit my mother? I could use a little of that. I saw dad today but it’s been a week since I’ve seen mom.

Work on the 50 songs in 90 days thing? Maybe. Probably not.

Get up at sunrise and mess around with cameras again? That would be fun, but where would I go? I’ve hit my favorite spots in town. Maybe downtown Lowell? Maybe the river walk in Lowell? Maybe the Shawsheen river in Tewksbury? I know a couple of good spots, but if the Shawsheen there is as dry as the Spicket here it might not be worth it. Boston? Too far away.

Stay in bed constantly refreshing eBay all day? I’m still the highest bidder but there are 22.5 hours remaining.

Pet the kitty all day?

Finish Umbrella Academy and start Stranger Things or Orville or Westworld or….

I don’t know. In the immortal words of Traffic, from their second record, Who Knows What Tomorrow May Bring?

Wilderness Adventure

Yesterday there were two things I wanted to do at lunch time and I didn’t do either of them. One was hit a thrift shop looking for film cameras (Nikon, please) that I can take places without worry about accidentally breaking my father’s Pentax. The other was wander around the woods behind the house with my digital camera.

I still haven’t gone-a-thriftin’, but I did hit the woods this morning. The results were meh, but I’ll post them later today. Some of them, at least.

The woods back there are a deer tick breeding factory so I made sure to wear heavier clothing. As soon as I came into the house (through the bulkhead, into the cellar) all of my clothes went into the washing machine, I did a pretty thorough tick searching inspection of my epidermis, and I hopped into the shower and hosed off my head. I think I am safe from the deer ticks and the lime disease and such. Mosquitos, however. I wasn’t as lucky. Those fuckers are everywhere.

It did sort of screw up my morning routine though. I’m logging in to work now and I haven’t had breakfast yet. I got my 30 minutes of walking in though. My Activity App’s Exercise Ring is good and closed. Also, I didn’t want to be doing laundry while working, but here we are with a washing machine still running and a couple of spins through the dryer in the immediate future.

We’ll live. The only question now is, do I go-a-thriftin’ at lunch? I’m definitely leaning that way. We’ll see.

Nerd Overload

Two thoughts on things to do with any pictures taken with Dad’s camera that don’t suck ass.

First, an Instagram account that only posts film? Hmm, maybe.

Second, spin off a new WordPress page that only posts film? Hmm, maybe.

Bonus third thought…. Do both. Speaking as a total content whore, this one seems likely.

Assuming there is anything worth keeping when I get the results back. That’s a tremendous if.

Unrelated thought… Dad’s camera has a 50mm prime lens. I’ve been wanting one of those for my Nikon for years. Let’s assume I get one before we go to Disney. Should I then get a Nikon film camera that can use the same lens and bring that and my D90 to Disney in January and leave Dad’s camera home where it will be safe? Assuming I can get a super simple Nikon film model for super cheap, of course. I’m thinking one roll of film per day. When the day’s roll is finished, switch to digital. Maybe.
