David Lynch

Frankly I am embarrassed to write this post.

With the possible exception of Dune, I don’t think I’ve ever seen any David Lynch work. Blue Velvet… Eraserhead… Twin Peaks… Nothing. I’m not even sure if I’ve seen Dune or not. I know I’ve seen bits and pieces, but did I ever actually sit down and watch the flick? I might have. I’m probably 66.67% sure that I have, but that’s not 100%, you know?

This is a guy who, purely by reputation, I should be very much familiar with. I mean… Eraserhead, right? How can I not have ever seen Eraserhead? Also, Twin Peaks? Eraserhead was before my time but Twin Peaks came out while I was in my first, first year of college and everyone on Earth was watching it. I mean… I was in music school for crying out loud, how did I not watch Twin Peaks?

Now David Lynch has passed away. It’s too late for me to do anything more than catch up in his memory. Somehow that seems very shitty of me.

As always when a celebrity dies, I have written a post about them that was really all about me. I am a selfish asshole that way.

Rest in Peace, David Lynch.

Good News

Good news tonight. The world may be looking pretty bleak across the board, but the Boston Bruins beat the Tampa Bay Lightning 6-2 tonight.

Also, Star Wars: Skeleton Crew ended and it was excellent! (No spoilers though)

Also, the cats watched Friends again and it’s crazy how they can’t look away.

Good news all over the place! WOOHOO!

Hootie

My wife and I watched an episode of Friends tonight. It was the episode where some of the gang went to a Hootie and the Blowfish concert.

Wow… Hootie… for those of us who lived through that period in history… those were dark days, bro. Dark days.

They weren’t like nazis in the US government dark, or ex president incites a riot in an attempt to overthrow a legitimate Federal election and then four years later the schmucks in the voting population actually elect the treasonous cunt to a second term dark… but they were certainly dark days.

Insert my shiver in fear here.

He’ll be Proud

My step son, Harry, will be proud of me. I just finished watching Better Call Saul. He really wanted me to watch it. He was raving about it all the time. Now I’ve watched the whole series and he can finally talk to me about it without worrying about spoilers.

FYI, it’s as good as everyone says it is. Go watch it.

Subject change. I mentioned that I bought a few new guitar pedals over the last week. I haven’t had a chance to try them out yet. I’m debating whether I want to integrate them into the board I use at home, or should I make a brand new pedal board instead. I’m leaning toward a new board. Just for a while at least. Just for schnitzengiggles.

Subject change. We have a couch delivery scheduled for this morning. The delivery window they gave me is pretty long. It extends into my work day and it overlaps two scheduled meetings. Here’s hoping we get lucky and the truck gets here early enough to not mess anything up.

Subject change. Our mouse hunting cats had a target last night. We woke up in the middle of the night to see them chasing a gross little teeny tiny rodent around. At the time, the little bastard got away. We don’t see any signs of the prick this morning, but the cats are clearly still on high alert. We live in the woods. One of the biggest rivers in New England runs smack through our town. Mice are a part of life. Still… go get the little home invading asshole, cats. Do your job. Protect your house.

Okay. Time to go start the day. That delivery truck is going to be here… eventually.

Up to Date

Okay folks, you can talk about Star Wars: Skeleton Crew episode three now. I just finished watching it so I don’t have to avoid spoilers anymore. Go ahead and debate it to your hearts content.

He said selfishly as if no one else getting spoiled didn’t phase him, though you notice he hasn’t spoiled anything himself so maybe this post is meant to be a little silly and a lot sarcastic. Hmmmmm… what do we think?

Nothing

It’s been a quiet day. Not a lot going on. One issue at work that should have been wrapped up on Friday came back to us today (Tuesday) and was immediately taken care of. It should not have come back to us though. There was another issue that one of my staff members worked on over the last month or so. He wrapped it up nicely last week. We were talking about it yesterday and we were both a little sad that his hard work did not seem to rate a pat on the back or a thank you from the customer. It’s okay if they just move on with their lives, but this was a kind of issue where we thought a simple thank you would have been nice. Well, he got a thank you today. Thanks for the thanks, customer.

Most years at work I am part of two holiday celebrations. One is a big lunch with a yankee swap and the other is a smaller, quieter group lunch. The yankee swap happened today. The quieter group lunch happens tomorrow. Both of them take place in Foxborough, which is the office that is as far away as I am willing to go to. It could be worse. It could be Fall River. That building has been open for a decade or so and I have never been there. It’s just too far away. If I ever have the need to go there I will, but I am not going by choice and I will avoid it whenever I can. I’ve been lucky so far. Foxborough though… today and tomorrow. It’s okay. I’ll handle it. It’s only about 70 miles away. Yikes.

At the Yankee swap thing today there was a sign that said there are only 15 days left until xmas. You know… I wasn’t feeling a holiday crunch before I saw that… now? Oh yeah, I’m feeling the holiday crunch. Panic is setting in.

There is a new episode of Star Wars: Skeleton Crew coming out at 9pm tonight. Hopefully that will make me feel a little better. I’m still not 100% sold on the concept of Goonies in Space, but I am liking it so far. I’ve only seen two episodes. I am optimistic that tonight’s episode three will be good. The bad guys are Pirates. Arrrr, righty then.

What else can I write about? Nothing. I think I need to wrap this literary masterpiece and click that publish button. Okay, loyal readers… here it comes!

Snow

It is snowing today. The forecast called for 1-3 inches but we barely got anything. It stuck, but it wasn’t enough to cover the grass. I hate snow, but I can live with it today. Assuming, of course, that the “storm” didn’t just get delayed and we’re going to get the 1-3 inches later today. That would blow.

Hey, dig it, the Bruins won again. Nice. Granted they beat Chicago and Chicago isn’t what we’d call… good. I’ll take it though.

Today is Thursday. I have 90 minutes to go before I punch into work. I could be doing something creative or productive. Nope. I’m watching Better Call Saul. Season five, episode two. Half off for non-violent felonies.

Okay then, Robert. Let’s start this crappy day. Bring it on. Say no to snow.
