The Worst Attitude

I think that the worst attitude an american can have right now is apathy. The natural inclination is to look at current events, decide that it’s so far out of our control that there is nothing we can do about it, and then give in to indifference.

I get it. I completely understand the urge to go that route.

But then you read a headline about someone torching a bunch of swasticars in Germany and you start thinking that there is always something you can do to resist the fascists. Even if it’s just sharing news. Maybe you’ll say something that will fall on the right ears and change someone’s mind about the drain we’re currently circling and, who knows… maybe it will make a difference.

  • Luke Skywalker: Look, I can’t get involved. I’ve got work to do. It’s not that I like the Empire; I hate it, but there’s nothing I can do about it right now… It’s all such a long way from here.
  • Ben Obi-Wan Kenobi: That’s your uncle talking.

We need to stop listening to Luke Skywalker’s Uncle Owen. We need to spend more time listening to Ben Kenobi. He’s a cool dude. He knows what’s what.

Random Thoughts

I am wrapping up my lunch break on this random Wednesday in March and I thought I’d jot down a couple of thoughts for posterity. Ready? Okay, let’s roll….

  • Want to know something that sucks? I brought two ounces of Planters Salted Peanuts with me for lunch today (14 grams of protein). I took a small handful (my gastric bypassed body can’t handle more than a small handful at a time without getting sick) and popped it into my maw. I chewed it up a little (again, part of the post-gastric bypass world means chewing the holy hell out of everything, which sounds silly and obvious [like, didn’t you chew the holy hell out of everything before surgery? I thought I did, but apparently not] but until you fail to chew something down enough you can’t really understand) and suddenly and without warning I had to sneeze. Know what’s gross? Sneezing with a mouthful of partially chewed up peanuts… that’s what’s gross. Worse? 20 seconds after you sneeze, when you think you’ve recovered and cleaned up the mess… you sneeze again. Ugh.
  • Elon Musk posted to his nazi social media site that he didn’t understand why people are out to get him. He said he sells things that are good and that he’s never hurt anyone. Never hurt anyone? Are you fucking kidding me, you fucking moron? This nazi fucker’s end can’t come soon enough. Deport his moronic ass to mars and be done with it.
  • We have a contractor coming tomorrow. We have two contractors coming Friday. March 2025 will go down in family history as the month of the contractors. We just can’t get away from them. Please please please let this be the end of it for a while.
  • We are one week and one day away from the start of the Boston Red Sox 2025 season. No matter what happens, they can’t be any more painful to watch than the Bruins were this year. Even if they come in dead last again it still won’t suck as badly as the B’s. I’m thinking about signing up for an online subscription to NESN (the New England Sports Network. The TV network that carries both the Red Sox and the Bruins). I think my days of being a radio-only Red Sox fan might be coming to an end. I haven’t decided one way or the other yet, but I think it’s going to happen… we’ll see.
  • I don’t want to buy a tenor saxophone. I don’t want to buy a tenor saxophone. Did I mention I don’t want to buy a tenor saxophone? Who am I kidding. I want to buy a tenor saxophone. Only if it’s a good one though. Aw, hell.

Okay. I have to get back to work now. This is all I have time for right now. I’ll probably write up some more brain droppings later. It’s one of those days, if you know what I mean.

Parking Lot Worries

I work in a facility that has two buildings and two parking lots with one driveway leading to both. My company is in building two and we have other tenants on a couple of floors in building two and in all of building one.

This morning I was stopped at the stoplight outside of the driveway and I saw something concerning. Someone pulled into the facility in a tesla cybertruck. Apart from questioning the cybertruck owners politics (musk is a nazi) and taste (cyber trucks are the fugliest vehicles on the road) I immediately started to worry about my own car’s safety.

In recent weeks, teslas in general but more specifically cybertrucks (aka swasticars) have been targets for vandalism. Apparently someone even threw molotov cocktails at a tesla dealer in Las Vegas yesterday. While I don’t condone violence of any kind, I have to say that it couldn’t have happened to a nicer nazi billionaire, right? Still… knowing that there is a swasticar parking near where I park my car makes me worried that maybe that swasticar might spontaneously combust and cause damage to other, non-nazi, cars parked nearby? That would be terrible.

I did not see if the tesla went to my building’s parking lot or not. I think it went to the other building. I hope so. I kept my eyes pealed as I searched for a parking spot of my own just to make sure my little Kia wasn’t going to be anywhere near any dangerous swasticars. I am pretty sure my car is safe, but constant vigilance, you know? Stay safe out there.

Thanks, Woz

Steve Wozniak, the co-founder of Apple, had some wonderful things to say about a couple of dirty, disgusting, fascists. Allow me to quote an article from Huffpost, written by Marco Margaritoff…..

While Steve Wozniak has long criticized the personality flaws of his late friend and Apple co-founder Steve Jobs, he has far more damning things to say about fellow tech mogul Elon Musk.

The 74-year-old entrepreneur shared his thoughts with CNBC on Tuesday at a tech conference in Spain.

“I don’t know what got into his head,” said Wozniak, referring to the Tesla CEO. “Sometimes you get so rich at these big companies, and you’re on top. It goes to your head, and you’re the most incredible person in the world and the brightest, and you’re gonna dictate what others will do.”

As a “special government employee” heading Donald Trump’s so-called Department of Government Efficiency, Musk has been dismantling federal agencies with the purported aim of slashing wasteful public spending.

This has led to thousands of federal workers being fired and legal pushback in the courts.

“Bullying is the best way to think of it,” Wozniak told CNBC. “If you’re in school, the bully’s gonna force their way on the little guy. I don’t know, I’ve always favored the little guy over the big guy — and I’ve always favored the consumer of a good over the producer.”

Wozniak had even harsher words for Trump, however.

“There are types of people that you associate with in your life that are good, pleasant, friendly and care about others, care about animals, even,” he told the outlet. “And Trump is not one of them. He’s a disgusting person and has always been and always will be.”

After the Supreme Court thwarted Trump and Musk’s efforts to freeze some $2 billion in foreign aid, Musk urged Republican senators on Capitol Hill to help him find another way to rescind that funding.

Democratic lawmakers resoundingly booed Musk Tuesday evening when Trump thanked him during his address to Congress.

Meanwhile, Wozniak also accused Musk of ruining his electric Tesla vehicles with steadily worsening designs. Wozniak, who invented the Apple I and Apple II computers, owns several Teslas himself.

“Every step up where they changed things in the car, it got worse and worse and worse, and now it is just miserable for user interface,” Wozniak told CNBC. “Coming from Apple, user interface, the way you deal with technology, is the most important thing in the world.”

He concluded, “And Tesla is the worst in the world at that.”

Thanks, Woz. You are the man. Now and forever, you are The Man.

Hero of the Week

I was thinking of doing something with this page to highlight people who are standing up to the rise of fascism in the united states. Something simple like a weekly topic, you know? Something like The Democracy Hero of the Week or The Anti-Fascist Hero of the Week. Something regular and recurring and formal like that.

But the more I thought about it the more I realized I would just be sharing everything that Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez posted that week.

It may not be cool or hip in some circles, but we legitimately do need a massive amount of people to run for office.Flood the school boards, councils, county seats, state legislatures, Congress, etc. Big changes at the top happen when the ground shifts at the bottom. And that can start now.

Medicaid is not for sale.NASA is not for sale. The Post Office is not for sale.America is not for sale.We have an obligation to resist kings. We outnumber them. And they can be overwhelmed.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (@aoc.bsky.social) 2025-02-21T19:19:28.159Z

There are moments in these deportation fights when I can just FEEL how pissed off they are that I’m Puerto Rican 😂 they want to threaten me with it so bad 😂

………..And those are just from the last four days.

New Morning Ritual

It is really hard to act like life is normal and progressing nicely or anything like that when every morning one of the first thoughts I have is, “I wonder what fresh hell the nazis got up to last night.”

I mentioned in a post yesterday that I wished I could have joined in on the 50501 presidents day protests yesterday but I couldn’t. I will join in on the fun on the 28th when we do that boycott all business thing, but that’s really nothing special. I think there are more days that I don’t spend any money on anything than those that I do. It’s just going to be another Friday for me.

When New England, New York, and New Jersey secede from the union and form a new nation together, who should we elect as our first President? Elizabeth Warren or Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez? I’d be good with either of them.
