I saw a post on one of the social media sites that I sort of use where someone was raving about this new app that simulates film photography. Hipstamatic.
New app? Dude, the app launched in 2009. Where you been?

I’m home. It’s been a long week of commuting. It’s like it is 2019 all over again. Enough of that. I am so ready to work from home tomorrow and then get back to just twice a week starting Monday. It can’t get here fast enough.
For now though, here’s a cat who looks like I feel.
It’s silly that I still do the whole photo a day challenge project thing. It’s almost always going to be a picture of a cat, or a guitar, or the view out of my home office window. It’s bad on the days I have to travel into the office because then it is likely going to be a picture of the parking lot, or my keyboard, or… nothing.
This week I may be in the office four days. That’s crazy in this post-covid world, but that’s how it’s working out. Often on in the office days I take a picture of something when I am in the cellar doing my morning exercise. Yesterday it was a guitar. Today it’s a candle. Let me show you…
Who knows what it is going to be tomorrow and the next day.
As it turns out, I actually ended up with options today. Surprise! I had to put gas in the car so that I could make the long (44 miles, about 90 minutes) commute. I could have used this picture for today’s photo a day instead of the candle…
Or, I could have used this one…
I mean… are those puppies art or what? I can almost smell how impressed you are (#sarcasm).
The cats keep asking me what comes next. Now what? They say.
I haven’t a fucking clue.
My wife said, “look at her… judging me.”
Don’t be judgmental, Robin. Be respectful.
I am working from home today and my wife is not. It’s just me and the cats in the house.
Weird, huh?
Robin has the right idea. Nap time.
Happy vehicle inspection day. I’m only three months late. Sorry.
Yesterday I started listening to every Rush record I own on vinyl, in release order. I have everything up to 1987, after which they stopped releasing their music on vinyl (in large quantities at least). I have a couple of 21st century releases from when vinyl became a thing again. I’m in the office today so I won’t be playing that game again until tomorrow. I did take some Hipstamatic Shake to Shuffle style pics while I was packing up my laptop. Just because.
I’m not one of those people who thinks that vinyl is some magical thing. I just like the vibe. I also like having my father’s record player in my work from home space. It’s nice. I’ll start the Rush thing over again tomorrow at the start of the work day. It’s like having a big playlist from a streaming service except that I have to keep flipping the records.
I had a vision in my head of finishing the tracking for the 50/90 challenge yesterday by adding vocals and lead guitars to the final three songs. Instead, I didn’t do any of that which lead to me sneaking out and putting vocals on those final three songs this morning. I won’t have time for the last few guitar tracks until… Thursday? I have a bunch of songs still to mix so there’s plenty of work to do between now and then. I mixed one song last night and started mixing another. Hopefully I’ll finish that tonight, but I didn’t get a lot of sleep last night at all and I expect to crash hard tonight. We’ll see.
Pictures. One guitar picture as a reminder to myself that I didn’t play yesterday (or today) even though I wanted to.
Next, a view from my “recording studio” this morning.
Finally, yet another picture of the downtown clock from the drive home. Fascinating.
I have eight days left to finish the 50 songs in 90 days challenge. I am feeling some pressure, but I am also optimistic.
