Weird Day

I feel like today is going to be a weird day. I am not sure what to do with myself.

I have to go grocery shopping. That’s it. Outside of that I have nothing on my agenda. Nothing at all. I don’t know how that happened. I am thinking I maybe should have slowed down on the IKEA party yesterday and saved some of it for today. I will cook lunch and dinner for the love of my life, but those aren’t really agenda items, those are more like a cross between I’m in love with her and want to do things for her and… you know… basic survival needs.

I might try to do some music today. I want to work on a couple of song ideas for Record Every Month. We don’t have a band practice today. We had a discussion yesterday. It was off then it was on then it was off. Next week. I want to do some gear review before next weekend. I might bring my big Fender Bassbreaker 18/30 in place of the Vox AC15, but the tweed covering has some… stuff on it. Mold? Dirt? I don’t know. I haven’t used the amp in years and I am a little afraid. I also want to go super basic with pedals. The rig I have at the practice room is making all sorts of weird noise. I want to tear it all down and build it back up again, but I have to take the pedal board home to do that, and I want to have something small and simple to replace it with in the meantime.

So… yeah. Nothing else going on today. I’ll find something to do. I kinda fear that the something I come up with is going to be binge watching Star Trek the Animated Series. I watched the first two episodes last night. I think there are 22 more. I bet I can get through a lot of it if I really apply myself.

Happy Sunday.

Saturday Plans?

Normally, one of the first things I do when I get up on a Saturday morning is start to make a list of things that need to be accomplished over the course of the day. Well, it’s Saturday now and it’s about quarter past seven in the morning. Time to make that list….

You heard me, red head… time to make that list…

Whenever you’re ready…

Yeah, I have nothing. Nothing on the agenda today at all.

The good news is, tomorrow we’re going to have a visit from Harry. I guess the agenda today is to just get ready for his visit. I can do that.

Sunday To Do List

My agenda for today:

  • Wake up – Done
  • Do my daily exercise – Done
  • Put together a little thing we’re going to use as a shoe rack in the bedroom
  • Hang a coat hanger thingie in the bedroom
  • Put new strings onto one of the guitars (still haven’t decided which, but probably the Les Paul Standard)
  • Go to band practice for the first time in 10000 years (I hope)
  • Drop of a bag of clothes at a donation center somewhere
  • Come home and… I don’t know what. We’ll think of something
  • Sleep

Let’s get crackin’ Robert!

Happy St Patrick’s Day

Happy everyone in and around Boston, Massachusetts pretends they are Irish day! Even those of us who actually are of Irish descent. It dawned on me yesterday that with all the weight loss over the last year, and all of the needing to buy new clothes, I don’t actually own any green clothing. After I had that realization it also occurred to me that I didn’t own any green clothing last year either.

We are not doing anything special to celebrate my national heritage this year. I floated the idea last week, but after having Harry home for spring break it seemed underwhelming and I didn’t pursue it. I’d like to drive to New York instead, but I haven’t floated that idea at all so it ain’t happening. Unless Jen reads this and jumps at the idea. Heh heh heh.

No stomach issues today. Yesterday I was dealing with stomach aches off and on all day. The day before I had a minor stomach issue at lunch and then a huge issue at dinner. Today, nothing yet. I had a protein bar and a little bit of chicken for breakfast. No problems. I am hopeful that I can keep this trend running for the day.

I’ve been trying to get into Mastodon (@RobJ_1971). I wrote there this morning that if I had my way my agenda for today would include playing guitar and watching The X-Files and nothing else. Obviously that ain’t happening either (thanks, adulthood). Tomorrow though… Sunday though… who knows. I might finally stop thinking about it and start trying to sell my Stratocaster and using the proceeds to make repairs on my ES-335 (frets and wiring harness) and Les Paul Custom (frets, wiring harness, and pickups). Maybe. Frankly, the idea terrifies me. Mostly because I don’t know what a 2000 American Series Stratocaster’s fair price should be. The used guitar market is constantly in flux and I don’t want to let it go too cheap. I also don’t want to try to gouge people either. I’m thinking $1,200, but is that fair? I don’t really know.

Okay. Get to work, Robert. Happy St Patrick’s Day, everyone. Happy Friday. Don’t drink and drive tonight. Be careful out there. Wash your hands and be safe.

Friday

It is Friday.  That is good.  Tomorrow is Saturday.  That is better.

My wife seemed a little better last night, but she said she felt just as lousy.  She’s wondering if the antibiotics are causing an allergic reaction.  I hope not.  She’s working from home today.  The kids are going to an arcade with their father and then coming back to our house.  My worries about the reaction to Santa’s gifts is a little less today than it was a couple of days ago.  They are both using things that didn’t seem to go over all that well when they were opened.  That makes me happy.

We don’t have much planned for the weekend.  We had a get together scheduled with Larry and family and Mike and family, but pneumonia has postponed that for a couple of weeks.  It will be good to see everyone all at once again.  It’s been much too long.

All that’s left is a trip to the Apple store.  The kids and I all got iPads for Christmas (yes, we are all spoiled rotten.  Mostly me!) and the kids want to get cases for theirs.  I thought that maybe if Jen is feeling better by Sunday afternoon we might take a shot at seeing The Hobbit, but that’s probably not the smartest idea on my part.  Mostly we should just stay home and take care of Mom.  I think that is the best plan.  I’ll take care of any errands that need to be run, and the kids can stay in their pajamas, which they both love to do.

It’s the last weekend of 2012.  Let’s hope 2013 gets off to a healthier start for all of us.
