Bruins 2 – Senators 1

The Bruins beat the Senators tonight 2-1 in overtime. The first Bruins goal was the cheapest goal I’d seen in ages. The Ottawa goal was even cheaper. Then in OT, Bergeron trickled the puck onto, but not over, the goal line. Ottawa’s goalie took off his blocker, reached for the puck with his bare hand, and instead of grabbing it, he knocked it an inch or two over the line before scooping it up. Bruins win.

Three goals.
Three impossibly cheap goals.
You’d think it was a full moon or something. Is it a full moon? No, it’s not a full moon. The game just made tonight feel like one.

Go Bruins!

Let the Rock Immortality commence!

Rock Music for Old People

Finished

The 2013 RPM Challenge album is finished.  Or at least as finished as it will ever be.  I’m done, I’m toast, I’m fried.

I was debating on whether or not to drop one of the 14 songs.  I came close.  Last year I actually dropped two.  This year… ah screw it, I’ll keep ’em all.

I kinda think its kinda cute that you have to wait until track three to hear 4/4 time.  Neat, huh?

Here’s the soundcloud.com playlist:

Here’s a link to what I consider the “official” home of all of my stuff, alonetone.com.  Unfortunately the WordPress.com police won’t let me embed alonetone’s playlist.  If they did, you’d never see a soundcloud playlist ever.

(just for snitzengiggle’s let’s try embedding it and see what happens…  Nothing, just as I expected)

I need to head out tonight and get a disc in a jewel case and a padded envelope so I can mail this sucker into headquarters tomorrow.  I also need to find the design a CD cover website I used last year and then print it out at work tomorrow (when no one is looking).  Then if I can drop it in a mailbox tomorrow it will be on its way.

RPM Day 27

I have officially finished FAWM.  I have recorded the last note, mixed the last song, uploaded it all to alonetone.com, and declared FAWM done.

The RPM Challenge still needs a quick cover, I need to put the songs in some sort of order, burn a CD, and mail the sucker off.

Insert the satisfied sigh of relief right here.

RPM Day 26

I know it’s late for this, but I’ve had a busy day.  Deal, okay?

I added the final lead guitar parts to four of the remaining six songs.  I haven’t made a final mix of any of them yet.  I might do that tonight, or I might wait until tomorrow.  I’m so close to finishing that I can almost taste it.  I should probably start thinking of a cover, and maybe a title.  What do you think of Rock Music for Old People?

What the Hell is Up with My Foot?

This is a true story.

Really.

No kidding.

On Monday morning at about 3:45am or so I woke up.  I don’t know what woke me up, but I got out of bed and drained the lizard (pardon the metaphor) and then looked out the window to see if it was still snowing.  It wasn’t.  I then went back to bed and fell asleep right away.

At a little before 6:00am I woke up again.  The alarm had gone off and, while I had a vacation day booked and had no plans to leave the house, I got up to brush the snow off the cars so my sweet wife wouldn’t have to.  As I was trying to sit up I thought to myself that there was something wrong with my foot.  It hurt a little bit.  I then put my feet on the ground and stood up.

Holy Toledo!

Damn, did that hurt!  The pain is on top of my foot, maybe off to the side a little, just South of the big toe.  What had I done to deserve this?  I put on a shoe and it hurt a lot.  I was a little swollen, I guess.  I went outside and did my thing.  My beautiful bride left for work and I went back inside.  I changed into a dry pair of shoes and there was still some pain and discomfort but it wasn’t as bad as it had been.  I think it was because my shoes fit snugly and were offering some nice support.

Last night just before bed I took my shoes off and the pain came back.  Through the night it was bad enough to wake me up a couple of times.  Today at work I have a real limp and it hurts pretty much constantly.

So the question is, what the hell happened during the two hours or so I was sleeping between 4:00 am and 6:00 am?

I think the cat had something to do with it.  I know she’s plotting to kill me.  Duh.  I mean, what else do cats do with their time?  But in this case I think she was messing with me.  I think she performed some surgery on my foot and maybe removed a bone or a tendon or something.  Our cute little Patches is just psycho enough to try something like that.

I’ll keep a closer eye on her from now on.  I’m watching you, kitty.

I’m watching you.
