So when I posted that little thing about Dunks and Letters to Cleo and Boston today it was one of those things that was funnier in my head than on the screen.  That didn’t stop universehub.com from linking to it and giving me by far my busiest day page view wise since switching to WordPress.com.  Thanks!

I put a link in the comments to the pictures I took on the night the Letters to Cleo live record was recorded.  Here are a couple that received some love on Flickr, just because Cleo still rules the planet, even after being gone so long.

The Bruins Beat the Lightning

I just realized something…

If I can’t embed video…

I can’t post NHL highlights…

Oh no!

Does the embed tag work?

Does just posting the link work the way it does with youtube videos?

No!  Neither way worked!

I want to share the three Bruins goals because they were all worthy of highlight films (the Tampa Bay goals were too, but who cares)… But I don’t think I can!

The horror!

youtube has highlights galor from last night’s Penguins vs Canadiens game, but that was a nationally televised game.  Oh, and thanks for beating the Habs, Pens.  We appreciate it.

There is a huge game tonight for the Bruins as they face the Canadiens.  There’s not to much at stake, just first place in the Northeast division and the Eastern Conference.  That’s all.

Go Bruins!

Screw you, WordPress.com!

Boston

I just had an epiphany.

I was sitting in the drive through at Dunkin Donuts and it was snowing…

I was also listening to Letters to Cleo…

It occurred to me that I would never have a more “Boston” moment than I had right then. In those few minutes I was more “Boston” than I ever had been, or ever would be again. The only way it could have been more of a Boston moment would have been if the Green Monster were in view.

It honestly was wicked cool.

Now What

I probably wrote this exact same post last March, but it needs to be stated again.

I have finished the RPM Challenge and FAWM. I’m very proud of my goofy self, despite the fact that the music I made isn’t very good. I wrote and recorded 14 songs in less than 28 days. It feels like a nice accomplishment.

Now what?

Last year I made a list of a big batch of unfinished songs I’d started in 2007 and 2008, as well as a few newer songs that needed to either be re-recorded or re-written and decided that I’d pick them off one at a time over the course of March and April or so in order to keep the happy RPM vibe alive for a while.

I finished recording 2/6 remaining 2007 left overs, and started tracking the other four, which are all at various stages of incompletion. I re-recorded one song, and re-wrote another. In November I started writing two new songs and have finished one of them.

For 2013 I have two little ideas on what to do next. One is to continue picking off the unfinished songs. There are eight of them, including the one from this past November. I also recently found a cd full of random songs I had written and played along with Mike and Maria back in the late 90’s. some of those songs might deserve a long awaited recording. I’ve picked two to start with, maybe three… or four.

So that’s the plan going forward. Finish more of the left overs, record some more ancient artifacts, and once in a while actually write something from scratch.

Lets see how long it takes me to run out of steam this year.

Wegmans

This morning my gorgeous, amazing wife told me that she wanted to have a different sort of food shopping experience. She wanted to rub elbows with the upper crust in a grocery kind of way. So we hopped into the car and off we went to Wegmans.
photo

As soon as we got inside it was clear to me that this was going to be a different sort of grocery experience. The shopping carts at the local Market Baskets (yes, plural) don’t have cup holders!
photo

We tried to stay in the aisles that featured things we can’t get at our normal super market. Jen, my love, was drawn to the Tea.

My eyes were drawn to the price of tea in Wegmans (as opposed to the price of tea in China) and I just could not look away.

The international aisle has a UK/Ireland section. They had lots of great looking Cadbury chocolates. I haven’t had a Wispa in ages so I grabbed one of those. They also had some… peculiar items…

I am not quite sure what to make of that.

Pussy Cat

My beautiful wife and our cat were hanging out together. Into this scene walked a spider. Jen is trying to tell me it was about two inches in diameter, but I was thinking it was half an inch or so. Maybe I’m just taller and therefore further away from it so the perspective is screwy or something.

Anyway, they are sitting there and in crawls this tiny little spider. What does our vicious, savage, killer of a cat do? She runs for the hills. She gets while the getting is good. She gets the hell out of dodge.

What a pussy………………cat.

I came into the room, shoe in hand, to dispatch the interloper and there is Patches. Sitting pretty just outside the door, looking all sad and pathetic. Wow. Some big scary cousin-of-lions-and-tigers you turned out to be.

Repetitive Stress Injury

This is an interesting little video of King Crimson, in ’81 or so, playing “Discipline”. The interview segments are annoying, especially Robert Fripp talking about how cymbals get in his way. Really Robert? The little Bill Bruford snippet is cool though. He talks about playing a simple beat in 17/4 time. Bill… there is no such thing as a simple beat in 17/4 time. Just sayin’.

The real interesting thing about this video is that I am convinced to the core of my being that this song represents the birth of repetitive stress injuries in the Western world. Seriously. I developed carpal tunnel (sp?) just watching it. These guys are flat out insane.

Geddy Lee Interview

This is a nice radio in-studio interview with Geddy Lee.  He talks about how being more popular than ever is gratifying.  He also says his son has a PHD in Higher Ed!  Doctor Lee!

Of course WordPress.com in it’s infinite wisdom will not let me embed the video, like every other blogging platform in the universe does. Click the link, kids.

Uploads

I am such a content whore.

The new RPM album can be streamed from three places. My first choice for you to visit would be alonetone, where every home recording I’ve made since 2007 is located, as well as some older stuff.

Next I would say try soundcloud. I liked that site when I first visited, but the free service is kind of limited, and their latest re-design is really bad. They took all of the intuitiveness they had and flushed it.

Finally, you can stream the new music from my bandcamp page. There is a catch to this one though. In order to get unlimited streaming time (like I ever would have run out) I had to put the music up for sale. For the love of all that is holy, please please pretty please DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM MY PAGE. I most definitely do not want your money. Listen if you want. If you like it then you’ll be my friend for ever. If you don’t like it then you probably have excellent taste in music because my tunes are crap. Just please, don’t buy anything from me. I’m putting this stuff up for all (re: no one) to hear, that’s it. Don’t try to buy my brain droppings.

While I’m at it, I wonder if I can embed a playlist from bandcamp…

Did that work?

Eventually I will have the record on my RPM Challenge jukebox page along with last year’s submission, but I haven’t gotten that far yet.

Until then… Listen, don’t buy.

Thanks.
