Turn Around

I left the driveway for work at 7:40 or so. I drove until about 8:10 and then something came up at home and I had to turn around and head back. It took less than 10 minutes to get home.

And now you understand how Boston traffic works once Labor Day is over.

At least I took today’s photo a day pic. 3/365.

Labor Day Car Music

I made it out for some car music this morning. I recorded vocal parts for five songs and I also drew a crowd.

There were also a lot of actual people around, just walking around the parking lot getting their daily exercise in. Leave me alone, people! Don’t listen to me singing! Don’t listen to me singing, damn it!

Who Needs an Oven

Really, an air fryer, an induction thingie, and a toaster oven. Who needs the big kitchen oven?

Jen does. She’s roasting veggies in the oven and cooking quinoa on the stove while I cook chicken in the air fryer and instant mashed potatoes (heaven’s gift, indeed) on the induction thingie on the other side of the kitchen.

We are kind of a team in this house.

Restart

It’s September 1st again. On the last five September 1sts I kicked off a new Photo a Day Challenge. This year is no different.

It just dawned on me that as I start the sixth consecutive year, I am technically half way through a Photo a Decade Challenge.

I am such a nerd.

Just for luck, this was an alternate.

Challenge Completed

Well, today is the big day. On September 1st of last year I kicked off my fifth consecutive photo a day for a year project. With today being the last day of August that means that taking some random pointless photo today will wrap up the current instance of the challenge. Success, again!

But what should the subject be? I’ve already posted pictures of one of my guitars today. Should that be the official project-completing snap? Naw.

I went out to run errands today and took one pic. Should that be the winner?

Naw, that’s not the one. What about cats? Most of this years photos have been of cats. How about this one I took of Robin?

That could be a good choice, especially since she slept through it the way she sleeps through almost everything. No…. I can do better, I think.

Yeah… that’s the winner. Miss Lily. Photo number 366 of 365. The winner. Success, yet again.

The sixth consecutive photo a day project will likely start tomorrow. I can see how excited you all are. Especially the cats… they are both asleep again.

Guitars

I have once again run out of songs to add guitar tracks to. This morning I put both rhythm and lead guitars onto one song, and lead guitars onto three other songs. That’s it. I have three songs ready for vocals. I need to get those done, and then after that I just have to write eight more songs from scratch. I have 35 songs finished, four ready to mix, and three ready for vocals. I am so far ahead of the 50 songs in 90 days challenge minimum pace this year that it is crazy. Just crazy.

Here are guitar pictures. I decided to change guitars today. I think the next time I play I might change up the pedal board a little bit too. We’ll see.

Planning

We went over some plans for the funeral service. We also wrote out an obituary. For the service it feels like there are more things to do than we have people to do them. It’s frustrating. As always, I want to make everyone happy and I just can’t.

There was some talk of my father’s will tonight. that weirded me out in a major way. I’m sure there will be more to come, but it’s something I never wanted to think about and now that it has begun, I want it even less.

Miss Robin tried to make me feel better. She’s fluffy and cute so that’s something she’s good at.

As for tomorrow? No idea. I want to spend time with my wife. I want to spend time with music. I want to go grocery shopping. I want to jump into the car with Jen and run away and not come back for days. So… the usual Saturday thinking.
