Plans for Next Summer

I found this article while surfing around Google News today and now I have to start making travel plans for next summer:

In pictures: Redheads celebrate fiery locks at Dutch festival

Sign me right the hell up, right now! A festival for red heads? Red Head Days! My people are gathering en masse! I need to be a part of this! It doesn’t matter that my step daughter did a study abroad program in The Netherlands and hearing about her travels has made me want to visit the country (and pretty much all of Western Europe). I would want to travel to this festival even if it was held in a condemned parking garage in Cleveland.

I need to be counted among the festival-goers! I need to celebrate my red headedness with my red headed brothers and sisters! What a joyous thrill this would be! I am so excited!

Sign! Me! Up!!!

Fun with Depth of Field

No guitar playing this morning. I’ve had a couple of personal screw ups that have messed my plans up quite a bit today, and all before 8:00am. Wonderful.

I meant to play guitar but instead I just took today’s photo a day picture. I had a little fun with depth of field. F2 for the win. Today’s photo a day is 362. Only three days left. It would be just my luck to screw it up now.

Favorite Time of Day

Daily writing prompt
What’s your favorite time of day?

What’s my favorite time of day? Do I have a favorite time of day?

I don’t think I’ve thought of this since the days of my carefree youth when I was such a night person I slept until at least noon whenever I could.

Today? I think my favorite time of day is tied to working from home in a way. I punch out of work at 5:30 or so and come upstairs and make dinner for me and Jen. Most nights we sit in the living room and eat dinner together there. That’s when my favorite time of day starts. That moment when dinner is served and we sit down together. From there until we turn in for the night, that’s my favorite time of day. All of the responsibilities have been taken care of, all of the work done. We just spend time together.

That’s the perfect time of day. That’s gold.

Mixing

I mentioned in a post the other day that the recording process for this year’s 50/90 challenge has been reduced to quick and dirty and it’s okay if things aren’t perfect, I just need them to be done. There isn’t enough time left on the game clock for nitpicking. That’s why I was able to mix three songs today in the hour and a half I spent struggling through lunch.

Of the three, one song is okay. One song is less than terrible. One song is almost terrible. Here I am sharing the one that’s okay. I am 90% sure I have written this song before but I am too lazy to go looking for it.

I now have 15 songs finished. 30% of the challenge is complete. Not bad considering I blew off almost three weeks this month.

Random Doctor Who Occurrence or Odd Coincidence

Funny things happen when you binge watch two different versions of the same television show. Well… maybe not, but when you’re a weird ass nerd like I am maybe uninteresting things seem like interestingly funny-ish things. I don’t know.

I think I* wrote about this a couple of weeks ago, but while binging both the original Doctor Who and the current Doctor Who series, I had this moment when I hit points in each show where they changed Doctors. In the old show, I started season four where Hartnell turns into Troughton and in the new show I hit season eight where Smith becomes Capaldi.

Strangely, even though the two shows have vastly different episodes counts per season, it literally just happened again. Yesterday I hit season seven of the old show where Troughton became Pertwee, and a few minutes ago the new show hit season 11 where Capaldi becomes Whittaker. That’s a funny coincidence, isn’t it? Weird, right?

There’s an even weirder coincidence in the current plots of both shows. Six full seasons through the original show and for the first time The Doctor doesn’t have a TARDIS. The story line is that he is being punished for something and it was taken away from him. He’s going to get it back eventually, but I think he’s going to be TARDIS-free for a couple of years. I didn’t see that coming. The weird plot coincidence is that the last shot in season 10 of the new show is The Doctor getting thrown out of the TARDIS just before it blows up (does it actually blow up? I don’t know yet) which means that when we start season 11 The Doctor is also TARDIS-free. Again, I didn’t see that coming.

I mean… how weird is all of that? I know it’s not actually weird or funny or anything, and I am just a total nerd who sees things that aren’t really there. It’s nothing but I just figured I’d write it down so that 10 years from now I’ll read this post and think, “oh yeah, I ‘member that” and then move on with the rest of my life.

*The right shift key on my MacBook Pro keyboard is acting funny again. It took me three tries to type “I” without getting “i” instead. It seems to be working fine now though. Aren’t you thrilled?
