One April Song Finished, Nine to Go

I mixed a song tonight. That’s one finished song from April (and March).

The lyrics come from my new favorite place on Earth to get ideas for lyrics. The @floridaman twitter account. This is the actual story.

The rhythm guitar uses the Fender Twin Reverb Amplitube app. The lead guitars use the Amplitube Jimi Hendrix bundle. That will be a theme for the month. I also used the Apple standard GarageBand plug ins. I used reverb, delay, and compression plug ins. I’m not sure how I feel about the results.

Absent Minded Nitwit

I mentioned yesterday that I was hoping to mix two songs tonight.

Every other Friday I spend the evening hanging out with my mom at my folks’ house while my dad does volunteer work. I get there around quarter to seven and leave about quarter past 10. My mother is usually asleep not long after 8:00, so I usually bring my computer and mess around with music while I wait for Dad to come home. The plan tonight was to try to mix one or both of the two songs that are ready.

This morning before I left I put my computer into my backpack (MacBook Pro, beetches). I had my awesome new blue tooth Bose headphones in their case sitting right next to the computer. I also had my awesome Sennheiser cans, the ones I used to mix last February’s RPM, and last November’s NaSoAlMo, and every thing in between, sitting right there on the desk next to the Bose headphones and the computer.

I forgot to put either pair of headphones into the backpack. I have an old pair of ear buds. Urgh. One of the songs that’s ready to mix is far and away my favorite of this month’s batch (meaning on a scale from 1-10 it’s a 3) so I will mix the other one first. I don’t want to waste the time, and I don’t want to mix a potentially decent song using ear buds.

I am an absent minded nitwit.

Guitar Solo

I just put lead guitar onto a GarageBand file called April01. That’s two of 10 song finished. I hope to mix them tomorrow.

All of the guitars this month are using Amplitube apps. The leads are using the Jimi Hendrix app. Fuzz boxes and univibes for everyone!

Quick April Music Update

I just recorded the 10th vocal. I have part of one rhythm guitar part to redo because it’s a little out of tune. I then have nine leads to record. Why nine and not 10? Because I snuck one in a couple of nights ago. My playing is awful. Just brutal. I don’t care.

April’s music project is going to be 10 songs at a shade under 45 minutes. Time to get crackin’ on those leads!

Am I a Bad Influence?

Each of the last two Tuesdays I have failed to put our trash out on the street for the pick up. I am a bad home owner, that is clear. This week I was determined to get it done. There are two reasons, one there is a lot of trash to go out now and two it does not smell good sitting there in the garage.

Last night, after coming home from my step daughter’s chorus concert where she was the piano accompaniment on one song and a soloist on another (she is a two instrument threat, piano and voice), I put four barrels out by the street. As I was bringing them out I remembered that it was Patriots Day. Patriots Day is a Massachusetts holiday. Is it a trash pick up holiday? I can’t remember. None of the other houses on the street had their trash out. Did that mean the pick up was on Wednesday, or did it mean that I was just earlier than everyone?

I left the trash on the street. This morning? Half of my neighbors have their trash on the street too. Does that mean they think the pick up is today too, or does that mean they saw my trash on the street and figured I knew something they didn’t know?

Am I a bad influence on my neighbors?

A Good Day for Boston

An American won the marathon? Cool!

Now if the Red Sox can pull off this come back, and my doctor can tell me that I don’t have Lyme Disease, this could be a pretty good day all over.

Post script: as I was adding the picture the Red Sox made an awful boneheaded base running play that ended a rally. Let’s hope my doctor gets better results.
