The polls closed in Massachusetts at 8:00pm. By 8:03pm, ABC News had called the state for Joe Biden with 0% of the precincts reporting. You might think that sounds fishy, but in reality we could have called it at 8:00am. My state is a blue state through and through.
Here’s a picture of two candles to show that I am not freaking out.
I don’t understand my fellow Americans. Trump is a criminal. Every word out of his mouth is a verifiable lie. Literally every word. 230,000 Americans are dead because he refuses to take any action on Covid-19.
…and there are American citizens voting for him today. It’s unbelievable. It’s unconscionable. I just don’t understand. It’s bad enough that he and the Russians rigged the last election and it’s pretty much guaranteed he is rigging it again… and American citizens are still voting for him.
MethuenLive Magazine posted on Facebook today that the city has 35,465 registered voters. So far 1,496 people have taken advantage of early voting. On top of that, 4,649 mail in ballots have already been received.
Early voting is still open for another 10 days, and who knows how many more absentees will arrive.
It’s October 20th and 17.2% of the city’s registered voters have already voted.
Keep up the good work, Methuen. Let’s send the fascists packing.
A small piece of happy news during these dark, annoying, assholy times.
I just visited the Track My Ballot page I posted a few days ago. My ballot for the 11/3 election is in “accepted” status. Meaning it’s been received and is ready to be counted.
That’s one vote closer to the end of fascism in my country’s government. Up your ass, trump/pence.
In the spirit of receiving our absentee ballots in the mail earlier today, Jen and I were wondering whether or not there is a way to track your ballot’s status after you send it in. Like… a UPS tracking number for the election.
There is. Well, for citizens of Massachusetts there is. For the rest of ya, I don’t know.
I ran the search for myself. My General Election ballot was mailed to me on 10/6 and it has not yet been returned. I knew that already since it’s sitting on the table next to me, but it was nice to know that the city knows too. It also said my September Primary ballot was received and is in Accepted status, meaning it was submitted for counting. Kick ass.
Methuen Life Magazine had a post on their bookfayce page two days ago that reported the absentee ballots were ready to be picked up by the post office. Allow me to quote:
10,000 BALLOTS HEADED TO POST OFFICE, THEN TO RESIDENTS: At 4:45 tonight, piles and piles and PILES of mail-in/absentee ballots (each requested by a registered voter) were outside City Hall waiting for the mailman to arrive for pickup. Standing guard are (from left) City Clerk Jack Wilson, Mike Rubino of the Clerk’s Office and Julian Almanzar of the DPW who is lending his services at the super-busy Clerk’s Office. “In years past, we’ve had 300 or 400 absentee ballots (for an election). This year will be closer to the 15,000 range,” Wilson told MethuenLife. The Clerk’s Office just received the ballots from the state yesterday. You can return your ballot to the secure ballot box located outside of City Hall’s lower entrance or drop it in the mail. YOU CAN STILL APPLY FOR A MAIL-IN BALLOT: https://www.sec.state.ma.us/…/early-voting-by-mail.htm YOU CAN REGISTER TO VOTE by visiting www.sec.state.ma.us/OVR by Oct. 24.(ML photo by Melissa Fili)
That’s a lot of ballots. One of them is mine and another one is my wife’s. We’re coming for you, fascists.
I woke up at 3:45 needing a biological break. When I got back to bed I found myself in a state of super paranoia about Super Tuesday.
The polls open at 7:00. I’m still district 5 in Methuen, and I still vote at the same location.
Now I just need to decide who to vote for. I’m 90% sure I know, but that last 10% is messing with me.
Vote. It’s our only defense against fascism, now that the Senate has abandoned the US Constitution. Granted Trump and the Russians will just rig the general election again, but for now at least our votes still count.
Well that sucks. The Republicans now control both houses of Congress in Washington. So much for any progress being made at the Federal level over the next two years. My only hope now is that they cock things up further and get swept out of Capital Hill and the White House in 2016.
Oh yeah, and they took the Governor’s office in Massachusetts too. With Charlie Baker in the state house it’s only a matter of time before people start begging for Deval Patrick to come back. Urgh.
Now, to the Democrats in Massachusetts I have to ask this favor: Can we please, for the love of all things sacred on this Earth, Stop Nominating Martha Coakley? How many times does she have to lose a major election to an idiot before we realize that she is just plain un-electable? Enough is enough.
The only silver lining to last night’s results doesn’t have any effect on me personally. The race that pissed me off more than any other happened in a state in which I do not live. Scott Brown lost his bid for the New Hampshire Senate. Thank you, New Hampshire. Now if he and Martha Coakley can just do us all a favor and go away, that would be great. Thanks.
In closing, looking ahead to 2016, just let me say that in the 2012 Presidential Primary election I voted for Hillary Clinton. I am more than ready to do so again. Suck on that, universe.
The polls in Massachusetts will be open for another 51 minutes or so. If you haven’t voted yet, get off your ass and vote!
Of course, the best part of election day is that we get another year or so without any political adds. Oh the bliss! This year has been especially bad because Eastern Massachusetts has been blitzkrieg’d with New Hampshire Senate race adds featuring the former underwear model turned modern day carpet bagger Scott Brown. Oh how I hope he gets his electoral ass handed to him so that he can just go away again.
