The water level is high, but i need some sunshine for these pics. Oh well.

I have a couple of new pictures of the Mighty Spicket River in Salem, NH…
These of course are taken from the Weight Watchers parking lot, which means I went to weight watchers today. I don’t want to talk about weight loss on the blog anymore, for now at least. Every once in a while I need to search for something here and I end up reading some happy post from years ago about how I lost two pounds or some nonsense. When that happens it is really depressing. It’s like saying, look how good I used to be doing before I started to suck again. I hate feeling that way so I am not going to keep track of stats or anything, My first week back was good. Enough said.
Except that I also went to the gym. I walked on a treadmill until my sore foot woke up. 15 minutes at a very slow pace. That’s a good start. We’re a month away from Disney and I need to be able to walk around all over Florida so I need to start practicing now.
Oh yeah… practicing… guitar… gig… Way to ruin the good vibe and scare the crap out of yourself, fat ass.
My return to the mighty Spicket River.

New Spicket pics can only mean one thing:
Weight Watchers.
I’m tired of hating myself, you know? #Sadface
This is a picture of the Spicket River that I took and posted yesterday. Sorry for the duplicate, but it is going to demonstrate a pointless point…
This is a picture I took and posted back in early December. Again, sorry for the duplicate but there is a pointless point…
The pointless point? Look at how low the water line is now compared to six months ago. It was very high in December, but it’s practically dry now. You could almost walk across without getting your feet wet. I am now hoping for rain, but only between the hours of 11pm and 5am.
I had some errands to run this morning so I got up early. The sun still hadn’t risen so I checked weather.com. It said it was cloudy out. Okay, I think, on my way to run my errands I would take my camera to the usual places in town and try out the new lens. I took a shower and did the dishes and then I was ready to go.
I stepped outside and it started to rain.
Crud.
Oh well, I was already packed up so what the hell. The first stop was the Sands bridge which is continuing along the way to complete collapse. When I think about how much I weigh, and about how the last two times I came here I actually walked across this thing… I’m lucky I didn’t fall through.
This one seems a little soft. It was one of the few that weren’t nice and sharp.

My second stop was the Methuen Rail Trail where it crosses the Mighty Spicket River in the Nevins Bird Sanctuary.

I didn’t notice the foot trails the last time I came here. I saw two or three this time. That gives me something to focus on next summer when I come back to explore a little more.

I am sure M was displeased to learn that the top 00 agent is advertising himself this way.

The third stop was the Falls Dam which had a nice flow thanks to all the rain we’ve had recently.

My final stop was at the Methuen Music Hall.

The Mighty Spicket River is running high today.

Hopefully the next time I try this it will be sunny with no rain. I’ll take my tripod and try some long exposures.
This is not an April Fools post. I know it’s on the internet, so statistically speaking you wouldn’t be wrong in expecting an April Fools post, but this one is just a normal boring Rob post.
The weather channel reported that there is a flood watch in effect for my neck of the woods. The flood level for The Mighty Spicket River is eight feet. As of this morning the river was at 8.1 feet. One of the spots being watched is the Hampshire Street bridge. I left the house early this morning and paid a visit. I should have brought my real camera but I didn’t. I only had my iPhone.
0.1 feet might not sound like a lot, but it’s enough to spill pretty far over the banks.

Forgiving my stupid shadow, you can see that the water is almost up to the bottom of the bridge. It’s not enough to worry about yet, but it looks like we’re one rain storm away from closing the road.

Here’s the view from the other side of the street.

The area right at my feet is usually dry land.

Again, pardon my stupid shadow. This makes me wish I had my ND filter so I could take some long exposures. Maybe tonight after work?

Most of what you see here is usually dry land.

I parked my car in what I believe is a bus company’s lot. I didn’t even notice that the back end of the lot was under water until just before I left.

One more for the road. Yet another lame attempt at being artsy. Urgh.
