The RPM Challenge Begins!

It’s February 1st and The RPM Challenge is officially underway! Good luck to all participants.

I am ready to start as soon as I run a couple of errands. First, we are meeting a friend for breakfast. Second I need to drive home from New York. Nothing major.

I hope to watch the Super Bowl tonight with my guitar in hand and a copy of GarageBand open and running in front of me.

I also wanted to focus on a single guitar this time. If it’s going to be my Les Paul, then I need to get some strings.

…and they’re off!

Old Music

Say hello to the first demo of 2015!  RPM starts in just under 13 days so it’s time to start blitzing you all with new demos of old songs.  This is a Prime Meridian song.  One of the last we wrote.  It comes from 1999 (or so) and was more or less forgotten about.

It’s kinda groovy, isn’t it?

Rejection

I sent four of my home demos to the other three guys in the band tonight. Let the rejection begin.

I suppose I should keep a list of what I offer to them so that I won’t give them the chance to reject the same song twice.

NaSoAlMo Song #3

Did you hear that? I finally did it. I finally put a little backwards guitar onto a GarageBand file.

But wait, you can’t reverse an audio track in GarageBand. How did I do it?

Well, I’ll tell you!

I recorded a little lead guitar as the intro to this crappy song. I then exported just that 4-5 measure part to iTunes. I then took that audio file and loaded it into Audacity where I reversed it and saved it. Finally, I pulled the reversed file from Audacity into the GarageBand file and BOOM! Backwards guitar.

NaSoAlMo Song #2

Here is the second of 10 (probably) songs written and recorded for NaSoAlMo. As has often been the case lately I am 90% asleep right now, so I have no idea if the mix I just finished is listenable or not. I’d consider it a big bonus if it sounds okay.
