I’ve Got a Feeling

I’ve got a feeling, a feeling deep inside… that today is going to be one of those days when I post a metric ton or two of updates to the ol’ blog. I’m not sure where that feeling is coming from (apart from The Beatles and it being one of only two Beatles songs that any band I’ve played in has ever covered) but it’s there so you’ve been warned.

I did not get up early enough to pull off car music today, but I will try again tomorrow. I have been out of the house once already (it is 9:38am) so enjoy some classic views…

Why yes, yes I do live in New England. Massachusetts, to be exact. How did you know?

In closing, here’s a cat near a window, just after dawn:

More to come, kids. More errands outside of the house and hopefully lots of music today. That’s the plan at least.

Friday Morning Guitars

I promised myself I was going to do it on Thursday and then failed to do it. I did not fail on Friday though. I played guitar this morning. I put rhythm guitars onto three songs. Breath that sigh of relief!

Musical Broken Promise

Yesterday I promised that I would play some guitar today. It’s only 10:00am so there is still time, but I have not played at all today. I was shooting for some before work playing, but I did not. I did something else instead.

Jen is in the office today and I am not. I took advantage of some time at home alone and put vocals on three songs. Think of it like car music without the car.

I now have vocals on eight songs, and another 10 songs that are still lyrics/melody/vocals free. 18 songs in the pipeline. I want at least two more.

Also, I literally recorded vocals by candle light because I am a total nerd. Yes, there were two candles lit, but there were also like eight other lights on in the room so it wasn’t only by candle light… but you get the idea.

Look What I Failed to Do

Wanna know what I have failed to do for the last two days?

Hint:

Ugh. I am feeling very musically uninspired right now. That’s not good when I am trying to write and record an album entirely within the month of February. Crud.

On a happier note, yesterday was the first time that Robin the Cat jumped up on my desk and hung out with me while I worked. Today was the first time Lily the Cat did the same.

I Could Not Care Less

Today is super bowl Sunday and I really, honestly, truly, could not possibly care less. I don’t give the faintest shit about football, the NFL, or any of it. Really, the only thing for me to look forward to is the aftermath of all of the maga asshole heads exploding the first time they put Taylor Swift on screen during the television broadcast. That is the only aspect of the game that is of any interest to me.

On the upside, it did give me the annual opportunity to crack my dumbest, most over used joke. I was talking to my father on the phone this morning and it went a little like this:

Dad: So, are there any sports on TV today? (He was kidding, of course)
Me: Well the Bruins played last night so no, no there isn’t.

Har har har, I’ve got a million of them. I’ll be here all week, be sure to tip your waitress.

In unrelated news, I got some good cat pics today.

Robin is in the basket thing. She got in all by herself. No one did anything to prompt her to sit there.

2024 RPM Challenge Day 8/29

Here’s a quick RPM Challenge update.

From my tumblr post for day eight:

Decent progress, but not as much as I had hoped for. That feels like a theme this year.

I put rhythm guitars on three songs. I now have a fully recorded rhythm section on all nine songs that I have right now. I also added melody and lyrics to one more song.

Current status is nine songs, two are ready for vocals and the other seven are ready for lyrics and melodies.

That’s it. I really need to get cracking on the lyrical front. I also need to start adding more songs. The minimum is 10 but I am hoping for 20. Looong way to go still.
