Something I’m Thinking About

The RPM Challenge is about three weeks away. I’m thinking about what to do as far as guitar gear and I think I have an idea…

I would add a Crybaby wah pedal to this. It would be off the board to the right, but in the signal chain it would come after the Fuzzface and before the Dyna Comp. Pedal chain law requires a Fuzzface to come first. It’s an impedance thing. I’m not an electrical engineer so I don’t really get it, but it’s true. wah->Fuzzface sounds terrible. Fuzzface->wah sounds… okay.

I’ve wired this for power but I haven’t put velcro on the three new pedals. Outside of that and adding the Crybaby, I am all set to try this out… someday. Saturday? Sunday? Someday.

Guitar playing… I haven’t forgotten about you, my friend and favorite hobby and possibly unhealthy obsession. Just need to make some time.

Play

I didn’t have a chance to play any guitar last night. I didn’t blow off an opportunity, the opportunity just never arose.

This weekend? We’ll see. I need to start preparing my fingers for February’s album-in-a-month challenge. Also, hopefully the band will start practicing again. I have no calluses on my finger tips right now. It’s been almost two months since I’ve played a single note. It’s going to hurt when I start. That’s okay. I will survive. I will persist.

I’m thinking of downsizing the pedal board setup for February. Just to shake things up. We’ll have to see.

It’s time to start playing for real, Robert. Get to it.

Small Changes

Early morning small changes to the living room. Look at the pictures in the last post, then look at this:

We swapped the chairs, put the ottoman in place of the coffee table thing, and slid everything to the left a little. Let’s see how long this lasts. There are a couple of different things we could still try before we declare this project complete.

On a mostly unrelated topic, here’s today’s photo a day picture:

The Perfect Storm of Trucks

The work crew in the street pulled in front of our house (it was sewer related, not gas related as I thought) about 10 minutes before the furniture delivery truck arrived. They blocked the road, they blocked the house, they blocked everything. The furniture guys got as close as they could and handled it all swimmingly.

The only way it could have been worse is if the trash and recycle trucks showed up at the same time. I honestly think the Earth would have spun off its axis had that happened.

The upside though is that we have a new couch. We just have to rearrange the living room now. That is a project for after work though.

Back to Normal

Robin wishes everyone a happy first day back to normal after the chaos that was the holidays.

Of course she can do that because all she has on her agenda today is sleeping and being adorable. The little show off.

Not Today

I wanted to go outside and take some pictures around town with my new 120 film camera. Unfortunately the weather forecast was correct. It’s 23 degrees out and… well… I just don’t wanna. Cold weather is a jerk.

Have a cat instead.

Up Early

I was awake at about 4:30am today. I thought to myself, I can’t sleep anymore so I’ll just get up even though my alarm won’t be going off for another 30 minutes.

Then I blinked once.

Then my alarm went off. Huh. I guess I wasn’t having that much trouble sleeping after all.

I got up a few minutes later and got a slightly earlier than usual start to an in-the-office day. I was able to do my regular morning exercise. I usually lower my goal a bit for in the office days, but today I left it at the usual amount and hit it with enough time to spare to take a couple of pictures for today’s photo a day thing. Really I just wanted to switch from my 28mm to my 85mm lens and used photo a day as an excuse to make sure I didn’t somehow break something when I switched.

Ain’t those pics purdy? Pointless, but purdy? No. Whatever.

I’m hoping to take the new Lomo camera out for it’s first official test drive this weekend. The forecast is calling for some sun, but it’s also calling for some cold. We’ll see. I need to go revisit some YouTube how-to videos first because I think I’ve forgotten how to use the camera already. Again, we’ll see.

Another Rainy Drive

It is pouring rain out this morning so I must have needed to drive to the office. Yesterday I drove to my in-laws and back in the thickest fog ever. I could barely see the road. Today I drove to the office in a huge downpour and could barely see the road.

Coincidence?

Yes, of course it is.

Stop Light Theater

I put new memory cards into my camera today. Up from two 32gig cards to two 128 gig cards. Oh so many pictures! When I went out into the foggy morning to run some pre-christmas eve party errands I took the camera with me to test drive the new cards with some Stop Light Theater. Enjoy!

Told ya it was foggy. Here’s a bonus stopped-at-a-gas-station theater pic to close things off. It’s also today’s photo a day pic.
