Huge Game

It’s a huge game today for fans in New England. This time of year it doesn’t get any bigger than this.

For some reason my gut is telling me that Jarome Iginla is going to light things up in the second period. I have no basis for that feeling except that Iginla is awesome. He’s a shadow of his younger self, but I am seriously digging the fact that he is finally a Bruin.

note: you didn’t think I was talking about the Patriots in the AFC Championship game, did you? Honestly, I could care less.

Long Confusing Week

I mentioned the other day that we had a slight, one time schedule change.  We swapped a kid day with the kids’ dad.  He took our Thursday and we took his Tuesday.  The result was pretty catastrophic to my internal calendar.  I spent all of Wednesday convinced it was Friday.  I then spent all of Thursday convinced it was Friday too.  This morning when I woke up I was pretty sure that it was Saturday.  Spoiler alert:  It wasn’t.

After having less than three hours of sleep on Wednesday night/Thursday morning I was toast by early evening.  I tried to put the Bruins game on the radio while I was laying in bed.  I missed the first period and it was early in the second when I put my headphones on and put my head on the pillow…  And that was all she wrote.  The Bruins won 4-2, and I didn’t actually hear any of it.  Yippee.

It’s a good thing I got that sleep last night though because today has been the most hectic day in human history.  I’ve been bouncing around like crazy all day.  I was looking forward to a quiet weekend.  Now I am even more than before… I just found out I could be on call for most of the time.  Urgh, indeed.

Still Awake

I said earlier that the Bruins game in Los Angeles was starting after my bed time. It did, but I’m still awake. Oh and they’re losing. Nice.

I didn’t get out to look for the northern lights last night, and I won’t tonight either. I have trees blocking the horizon to the north, so I doubt I’d see anything.

The Kings just killed off a penalty. The Bruins are still losing.

Go Bruins!

Nothing

This seems to be another day with no time to post anything. Too busy for bloggin’ and too busy to have noteworthy things to electronically discuss.

Let’s force one through then.

The Bruins play the Kings tonight in L.A. Why does the time zone have to be such a jerk and make the game start at bed time. Stupid humongous continent.

There’s yer post kids. Hope ya’ll enjoyed it.

Bruins vs Oilers

The Bruins are in Edmonton tonight. I’m home and can listen to the game on the radio (via the NHL app on my iPad). Unfortunately it’s just starting now and it’s 9:30. Urgh.

Question: the Bruins are in Edmonton and the temperature in Boston dropped into the low 20’s…

Coincidence?

Crazy

This has been the craziest busy day ever. Everyone seems to be cramming a full weeks worth of crazy into one day.

I started mixing another song last night but decided I would be better served by sleeping. Good thinking on my part.

So The Walking Dead… I knew they were working on a spin off, but I thought it would be all new characters somewhere else in the world. I didn’t think it would be just about The Governor, and I didn’t think it was replacing the original show. Did the main cast need a vacation or something? Two weeks in a row of side story. I’m ready for the main story arc to come back now. Hell, I was ready seven days ago. That being said, the crazier that character gets the more fun he is.. and he’s getting pretty crazy again.

The Bruins play the Penguins tonight in a happy playoff rematch. Remember how the Penguins were heavily favored and then got swept by the Bruins? Remember that? Do you think his Bruins teammates let Jarome Iginla forget that for even a second? Tonight is a match up between the two top teams in the East. I probably won’t watch much, but I might catch some on the radio. There are just so many things going on right now.

I had planned to finish up the last two or three songs worth of guitar parts today but I watched zombie television instead. The whole project this month is completely disorganized. I don’t even know how many songs are left to finish. After the big chunk of work I did on Friday, I expect it to get finished on time. I just don’t feel very good about the whole thing. My guitar playing has been so bad it’s painful. It’s painful to listen to, and it’s painful to play. My finger tips are still burning from Friday. My playing has been bad enough to take a lot of the fun out of this. If I don’t keep practicing between now and February I might not do RPM. I mean, I know I suck but at least when I’m at my best I can fool myself into thinking I don’t suck too bad. I can’t do that right now.

Friday is Music Day… I Think

I took today off with the express purpose of finishing as much of the seven national solo album month songs as I can. I want to at least have the vocals done and any acoustic instruments (re: 12-string) as I can. I can sneak the electric guitar parts in later if need be, but ideally I’d like to have all of the tracking done today.

I started feeling sick yesterday. Coughing and a little stuffy nose. I am not better this morning.

The music project might be in even more trouble than I already thought.

I blame all of this on the Bruins losing to the Blues in a shootout last night. I listened to most of the game on the radio and then somehow fell asleep with the shootout tied at one. How did that happen? Maybe if they’d played 10 or 20 minutes of overtime instead of five minutes I would have been engaged in the game enough to stay awake. Shootouts are gimmicks. I don’t like them. Four on Four overtime is a gimmick too, but at least it still looks like a hockey game.

Anyway… wish me music luck. I think I am going to need it.

Thank You, Bruins

If the price of the Red Sox winning the World Series is that the Bruins have to suck for a while, then I’ll pay that price. Now that the parade is over though, it’s time for the sucking to end.

While I still have not recovered from the Stanley Cup Finals game six choke, I am ready to start loving hockey again. I’ve been there since the puck dropped in the opening game, but the Sox did distract me.

The Bruins have been crap-tastic for a couple of weeks now. This is the team that went to the Finals last year, and they are sucking up the joint against the Islanders and the Stars? No, enough. That needs to end.

Fortunately, last night was a step in the right direction. I was following the game, but I only managed to listen to the first period. It was scoreless after one, so I was afraid it might end up as more of the same. They were playing Florida whose suck level is so high it is incalculable. Turns out the B’s were just teasing me. They took the lead in the second period and then went for the Panthers’ throat in the third and put it all away.

Thank you, Boston Bruins. Thank you for playing like you meant it last night. Now keep up the good work!

Go Bruins!
