Time to Panic

The Bruins lost two games over the weekend, including getting trounced by the Rangers on Saturday. Right now they are losing 3-0 to Columbus. I mean… Columbus.

Sure, they have the second best record in the NHL, but to lose the way they did and then to be down three to a meh team like Columbus?

Is it time for the epically pessimistic Boston sports fan in me to start panicking?

I think it might be!

Oh no!

Bruins vs Ducks Highlights

The Bruins beat the Ducks 3-1 last night to extend their season opening winning streak to five games. Sweet.

I am sharing this video for three reasons. First, I didn’t watch any of the game. Second Matt Poitras scores his first and second career goals. Excellent. The second goal was both a sick snipe and the game winner. He’s sure making it hard to send him back to Juniors. Only four games left before they have to decide on that. I’m hoping he stays in Boston.

The third reason is who the hell is this Mason McTavish guy and why isn’t he a Bruin? Don Sweeny, I think you need to get on this. Just his name alone screams Bruins, never mind that he’s all over the highlights. Granted, he could be crap the other 81 games this year. I haven’t a clue who he is, but he’s on my meager little NHL radar now.

Okay… McTavish was the third pick overall in the 2021 draft. So maybe Don Sweeny snagging him away from the Duckies might be a tall order. Hey, a fan can dream, right?

Opening Night Cats

The cats are super excited that tonight is opening night for the Boston Bruins. They are losing 1-0 to the Blackhawks in the first period. Connor Bedard just scored his first NHL goal.

Choke

Friggin’ Bruins. One minute left in the third period and I was starting to think of what to write in the blog post when they snatched victory from the jaws of defeat, only to have the whole season get pissed down the drain. So much for me being cautiously optimistic. Choke. Epic choke. Not as bad as blowing the three games to none lead in 2010, but setting all of the standings records in the regular season and then blowing a three games to one lead in the first round is pretty friggin’ close.

Changing the subject to health news, because of my total schedule screw up combined with all of my stomach problems last week I ended up taking off six straight days from exercise. I am writing this post right now as I procrastinate over starting this morning’s jog (yog). I’m also on a steady streak of having stomach problems every other night. Last night I slept through the night. The night before I woke up with stomach pain. The night before slept fine. The night before woke up twice with stomach pain. Ect, ect. Here’s hoping getting back into the exercise stuff will straighten all of that out, somehow. Magically. Maybe?

One final note. I took out some trash last night and while I was out there (during a lull in the pouring rain) I checked on one of the bird houses and there was something there! There was a twig sticking out of the opening! This morning I took a look through the window and there was a bird perched outside of it! One of our bird houses appears to have a tenant! WOOHOO!

That doesn’t make up for the epic choke though. Epic friggin’ choke.

Trailing After Two

The Bruins are down a goal, 3-2 after two periods in game six tonight and I don’t think my heart can take much more of this. They looked sloppy as hell in the 2nd period. I need a huge improvement in the 3rd, and I need them to run up at least a 12 goal lead.

Come on, Bruins! Let’s Freakin’ Go!!

Taylor Hall

Anyone else getting the feeling that Taylor Hall doesn’t want the Bruins season to end?

He had, what, 22 points in today’s game? (A slight exaggeration on my part)

That’s Better, Bruins

After getting their asses handed to them in game two, the Bruins are up 3-0 late in the third period of game three.

Much better, Bruins.
