I went grocery shopping for some turkey day supplies today. The jar of mini onions leaked all over the place, the bowl of diced watermelon leaked all over the place, and one of the packages of pudding wasn’t sugar free. Motherpussbucket.
At least I got two bad night time pictures of the down town clock. One coming and one going.
I was left pretty annoyed by the whole trip. Stupid leaky groceries.
I went to the guitar shop at lunch. I made excellent time despite a road closure somewhere in Andover, MA.
I played my newly refretted guitar with its new bridge and its new nut and my first impression is that it still feels pretty good. The frets are a lot higher than I’m used to on this guitar, but not too different than a couple of other guitars. The action is a little higher than it used to be, I think, but it’s still super low the way I like it. It felt good. First impression, again, is that I am really happy.
I took my guitar home!

He did mention that a couple of the inlays on the neck popped out while he was removing the old frets. That happens. He fixed them. That’s good. I didn’t see anything and I couldn’t feel any difference during my quick inspection. All in all… happy. Can’t wait to get the band back together so I can play this babie at practice and wind up the volume and let it loose. Anyone know anyone who lives near Haverhill, MA who can sing and wants to join a dad-rock cover band?
I heard from the guitar shop this morning. My guitar is done! Oh happy day! I am going to head over there at lunch time and pick it up. Please please please no traffic so that I can get there and back before my lunch break is over.

Who is the most famous or infamous person you have ever met?
Daily writing prompt
This one is tough. I think I have really wracked my brains over it for maybe five whole minutes. I don’t think I have ever really met anyone famous. I’ve never met anyone infamous either.
I went to an in-store show at Newbury Comics in Harvard Square in Cambridge, MA on the day Throwing Muses released their Limbo album back in 1996. I got autographs from all three members. Kristin Hersh, David Narcizo, and Bernard Georges. Are they famous enough? I mean, they absolutely are to me but does the rest of society consider them famous?
When I was really little my father took me to an autograph signing with two members of the Boston Bruins. This is back in the mid-70’s. I seem to remember it being at a car show in the parking lot of the Osco Drug store in Tewksbury, MA but that can’t be true, can it? The two Bruins were Stan Jonathan and The Chief Johnny Bucyk. They were both household names in New England at the time, and The Chief probably still is. He’s a total freakin’ legend in these parts. He’s probably the most famous person I’ve met, even if I don’t really remember it at all.
My Uncle worked for The Boston Celtics. I shit you not when I say that legendary Celtics head coach and general manager Red Auerbach was the best man at their wedding. Really. Had I been there, that probably would have been what I wrote about today. I think I was too young to go though so I didn’t meet him. I don’t think my Uncle counts as famous, but it is really freakin’ impressive when he shows off his two Celtics NBA Championship rings (1984 and 1986).
I guess when it comes to meeting famous or infamous people I have lived a pretty uneventful life.

I answered today’s daily writing prompt this morning before work, as I normally do. Now I am going back to it with a second post. This isn’t really about writing, it’s just an excuse to post pictures.
What is good about having a pet?
The answer is simple: Cuteness overload.
I mean, really… what more do you need? Go adopt a cat or two. Or three. Meow, babie.
The light coming in through the windows in the back of the house early this morning was pretty wonderful. I just had to share.
No word from the guitar shop today. The guitar looked finished in the pics he put on the bookfayce yesterday but I couldn’t really tell. There was likely some finishing work that needed to happen (file down, polish, adjust the new frets maybe?) that I don’t know anything about. Hopefully I will hear something tomorrow. I can’t pick it up on Wednesday as I’ll be in the office. I don’t even know if he opens his doors on any other days. His website books appointments on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Let’s see what happens, okay?
Two things that I need to do today. One, call a plumber to look at a leak in the old bathroom. Two, I have a doctors appointment after work. I also have 3.5 hours left in my work day. I am just wrapping up lunch now.
Harry is coming home this weekend. How awesome is that? Looking forward to having him around. Also really looking forward to Thanksgiving. The actual holiday we will travel to my sisters’. The following Saturday we will have Thanksgiving Part II (electric turkey boogaloo) with the kids and Jen’s folks. I am really excited about both. Not that I can eat like I used to, but I’ll still love every minute of both days.
When are we going to go Christmas tree shopping? We usually try to do that while the kids are home for Thanksgiving, but I don’t know how the schedules will work out this year. We’ll have to figure that out too.
Have I mentioned that I am absolutely freezing today? Stupid cold. Stupid winter (even though we’re still over a month away from the first day of winter, it’s basically winter already).
