House of the Dragon

The teaser trailer for the Game of Thrones prequel on HBO, House of the Dragon, has been released.

Am I interested?

I don’t know.

I always said that if Arya or Tyrion got wacked I would stop watching (this list was later amended to include the wolves as well) and neither of them will be in this as both characters would be approximately -200 years old.

Do I want to sit through a Game of Thrones story that doesn’t have Arya or Tyrion or any of the Stark kids’ wolves?

I don’t know. Probably? Maybe? I am not sure.

This teaser doesn’t really excite me at all. Maybe we’ll have to wait until the show actually starts airing before I decide if I am interested or not.

World Beyond: Spoiler Free Review

Here’s a spoiler free review of the season two premier of Walking Dead World Beyond…

It’s just so…. Gimple, you know?

A full season getting from point A to point B followed by PSYCH! Fooled you.

It’s not a bad episode it’s just…. Gimple, you know what I mean? It’s so Gimple.

Baseball

The Red Sox are down 1-0 in the second. The Blue Jays are spanking the Orioles, the Yankees are scoreless, and the Mariners are losing.

Come on, Red Sox. Let’s get it together.

I asked my father if he has any clue what happens if we end in a four way tie. He hasn’t a clue either. I doubt anyone does.

We had a FaceTime call with Harry and we are hoping to have another with Bellana. Jen and I have both closed our exercise rings, which is awesome. We’ve got two episodes of The Walking Dead tonight (one from the main show and one from World Beyond), Jen and I are caught up on Ted Lasso and The Morning Show. I’m up to date on all the shows I’m watching on my own.

I haven’t played guitar at all this weekend. I need to, soon. I did get a flu shot yesterday. I’m qualified for a Covid-19 booster starting Thursday, so the flu shot was kinda like practice*.

The Red Sox are still down 1-0 after 2.5 innings. Not worried at all**.

And that’s where we are right now.

* No it wasn’t.

** Yes I am. I’m totally worried. I’ve been a Sox fan since the 70’s. The multiple championships since 2004 haven’t cured me of all of the heartbreak.

Star Wars: Visions Spoiler Free Review Part 3

I just watched the fifth episode of Visions. Allow me to add it to the review list.

  • Episode One: Yes
  • Episode Two: No, emphatically
  • Episode Three: Okay. Not bad, not great.
  • Episode Four: Yes
  • Episode Five: Yes, but maybe not quite as Yes as Episode One.

Thursday Morning Musings

It’s September 30th. How the hell did we get here so fast? Yesterday and today the outside temperature when we woke up was cold enough for jackets. It just sucks. Covid ate two summers in a row, but they both flew by so fast anyway that I feel like we would have missed them even without Covid. Crud.

I forgot to mention this yesterday, but yesterday was the 11th anniversary of our buying this house. Our 11th Homeownerversary, if you will. I didn’t do anything to celebrate then, but I did today. I went downstairs to do laundry. While downstairs I looked for leaks and water on the floor. I didn’t find any. Oh happy day. I think there is probably some water under the floor tiles in a few spots still, but nothing visible. I need to run the dehumidifier for a few days to clean up the hidden stuff (in theory at least. Will it work? Who knows).

We are going to see the kids this weekend. Bellana asked if we could bring up some Fall clothes for her. I offered to wash everything first. Big mistake, Robert. There is so much laundry to do. So much. Mountains and piles and piles and mountains (I am exaggerating, yes, but there is a lot of it. A lot). I hope to have it all done tonight.

We missed the new What If last night. Jen was tied up at work and by the time that was wrapped up and dinner was done Harry was busy with homework. We’ll try the watch party thing again tonight. Last night we were going to mess up the tradition by not having burgers, but we can fix it tonight. Jen suggested veggie burgers. Consider it done.

And now, on to work. Happy Thursday, folks.

Star Wars: Visions Spoiler Free Review Part 2

I snuck in another Star Wars: Visions episode this morning so I will add my super in depth, spoiler free review to the list I started the other day.

  • Episode One: Yes
  • Episode Two: No, emphatically
  • Episode Three: Okay. Not bad, not great.
  • Episode Four: Yes

Star Wars: Visions Spoiler Free Review Part 1

I just started watching Star Wars: Visions. Here are my spoiler free (actually, content free) reviews of the first few episodes:

  • Episode One: Yes
  • Episode Two: No, emphatically
  • Episode Three: Okay. Not bad, not great.

More of these super detailed reviews will come as I watch more episodes. Stay tuned.

What to Watch

We are done with Ted Lasso, I think. I’m caught up on Archer and Titans and What We Do in the Shadows and The Walking Dead, though all of their seasons are still going. I’m a couple of weeks behind on Supergirl which has improved a little after their mid-season break (so far at least).

Star Wars Visions is out, and Foundation has just started. I want to see both of those. We had started Invincible before Bellana left and I want to finish that. We haven’t finished the last season of Mrs Maisel (sp?). Maybe I can finish that for completeness sake. I haven’t seen Doom Patrol though I’ve heard that’s pretty good.

Is there anything else? I’m just wondering because a little part of me wants to restart The Walking Dead from episode one and re-binge the shit out of all of it again before it ends. That might be happening…. And it might be happening tonight. Well… starting tonight. It’s been so long since Shane has asked me if he can ask me something, or tell me something, and Carl hasn’t been told to stay in the house for ages, and there’s all the things and stuff Rick has been doing.

Yeah, that might be happening.

ADDENDUM: We are not done with Ted Lasso. We thought season two was going to be 10 episodes long. It’s actually 12. We have two more weeks to go. Happiness.

Ad Fail

Ted Lasso is not my favorite TV show right now but it is clearly the best show.

Jen sent me a video of what looked like an early version of the show. A little 4.5 minute thing. Same premise, same actors, same character name. I thought it would be cool to see where the idea started from

I watched the whole video.

It was a commercial for NBC coverage of UK soccer.

Im so disappointed. The best show on TV started out as a fucking commercial. Fuck.
