I Said I Wouldn’t but I Did

I was in this zone where I was buying my wife flowers regularly. No reason, I just saw them and bought them and that was it. I was spending too much money on it and Jen asked me to stop. She made it clear that she loved the sentiment, but howsabout we calm it down.

That was probably about a year ago. Today? I bought her flowers again. Sorry about that. I just had to do it.

Question for Myself

There is a question that I am asking myself today. More like a switch statement, for my programmer friends. I am not looking for advice or opinions, I am just mulling it around in my head.

Should I go to the sugar free bakery today and get some sweet sugar free cookies to have as after dinner snacks this week?

Or, should I bake that sugar free chocolate cake mix that has been in the cupboard for a couple of months now?

Or, should I do neither and just work my way through the pile of sugar free snacks I’ve hoarded over the last month or so?

Now, for the programmers… I asked Google Gemini to write me a switch statement in C that asks those three questions. Here’s what it gave me.

#include <stdio.h>

int main() {
    int choice;

    printf("Should I go to the sugar-free bakery, or should I bake a sugar-free cake,\nor should I just eat the snacks I've hoarded over the last month?\n");
    printf("Enter your choice (1 for bakery, 2 for baking, 3 for snacks): ");
    scanf("%d", &choice);

    switch (choice) {
        case 1:
            printf("Going to the sugar-free bakery seems like a good option!\n");
            break;
        case 2:
            printf("Baking a sugar-free cake at home can be a fun and rewarding experience.\n");
            break;
        case 3:
            printf("Indulging in your hoarded snacks might be tempting, but consider the nutritional value and long-term effects.\n");
            break;
        default:
            printf("Invalid choice. Please enter 1, 2, or 3.\n");
    }

    return 0;
}

Sometimes Sports Make Me Sad

Last night was a crappy night for me being a sports fan.

The Bruins played their first ever game against the Utah Hockey Club. The team formerly known as the Phoenix Coyotes. They lost 2-1 in overtime. That made me sad.

Worse, the fucking Yankees won the American League pennant last night. Thanks for nothing, Cleveland. Now, with the National League pennant still undecided, we are left with a choice for the World Series. Yankees vs Mets or Yankees vs Dodgers… again. Could there be a worse scenario?

Yippee.

Home Again

We are back home. We did the annual leaf peeping drive. Success. It was a little past peak everywhere we went, except for around the lakes region. It still looked pretty fantastic though.

We didn’t pull over very much so there aren’t a lot of pictures. We did stop for gas and bathrooms a couple of times, and one stop was at The Willey House on route 302. I have a few pics from there, both film and digital.

It was a nice drive. I enjoyed spending the day with my wife, the love of my life. Any time we can just be together is a thrill for me and time very well spent.

Road Trip

Get ready for lots of pictures of gas stations today. We’re going on a day trip up to the mountains to look at colors on the trees. It’s probably past peak where we’re heading but that’s okay. It’s the journey, not the destination.

Safe travels, internets.

Head for the Mountains

I didn’t think we were going to try to do any leaf peeping this year, but after talking to Jen a few minutes ago I think we are going to head North and try to do some leaf peeping tomorrow.

I just put the digital camera’s battery on the charger. One of the film cameras is loaded with a roll of black and white film. That won’t do. I need to put some color film into the other camera and then maybe take them both. Two films and a digital make three cameras. Yeah, that works for me.

Chances are we won’t stop anywhere and all of our peeping will be from inside the moving car, but that doesn’t matter. Turning a day trip like this into a photo-trip is nice and all but the real point of it is to just spend some time with the love of my life. That’s the real treat.

Film is Fun

I feel stupid over how giddy getting film scans back makes me. I am such a doofus. I am such a nerd.

One roll had a sad surprise. It was actually the same roll as the picture above. It wasn’t from Salisbury Beach though.

I took a film camera with me to my father’s for Father’s Day. I took a few really bad pictures and then promptly forgot about the whole thing.

The scans today included four bad pictures of my father. Two just sitting at the dinner table next to my sister. One had a bad light leak. Where did that come from? The other two were him seated with my niece and three nephews surrounding him. Again, one had a light leak. How? In five rolls of film shot with my Nikon FG-20 there were a total of three photos with light leaks. Or was it four. Whatever, very few. How? How did that happen.

Anyway, back on topic. Those picture of my father are probably the last pictures I ever took of him. Seeing them made my happy and sad at the same time. I miss my dad.

I warned you that the pictures were terrible.
